You should be able to blip all you want although I don't see the advantage or value in it except to make noise. My vision gets enough attention without having to rev it up.

OK, somebody needs to explain the blipping of the throttle, but at the moment, I don't quite get it?

Blipping: the practice of snapping the throttle to keep the engine running when coming to a stop or while at a stop. Generally required on non-efi systems but mostly a habit that sounds kool as the engine makes a "rapping" sound.
A few people were experiencing stalls when doing this under a limited set of circumstances and rider style dependant.
It never happened to me but I know others that it happened frequently.

Never had that requirement on any of my Non-efi systems. Most of my exhaust systems have been quiet systems, so I guess I never got into it. However, that S1L2 really has my mind a goin'.
thanks for the splanation.

SUCCESS!! I can now blip at will!! Seriously though, I took the long way home from the dealer today (about 170 miles) where I knew I would have plenty of red lights. No more hesitation or stalling. Somehow the download also seemed to make the transition from first to second much more smooth. Also, on the throttle then off the throttle used to be very "herky-jerky" (I'm sure that's the technical name for it), now it is as smooth as butter.

Anyway, I'm now a happy camper. Your mileage may vary...

Still wondering if mine got done correctly. It never died for no reason before, but now it does. I may have to have the dealer try it again.

Got mine done last Friday...

VERY noticable improvement in smoothness and acceleration with S1L1!

Still getting a minor pop on deceleration occasionally.

So far (about 350 miles) mileage is about the same as it was.

Had the reflash done a couple of hundred miles ago. Everything seems the same to me, but than again my bike ran fantastic to begin with. I did switch to full synthetic at the same time and do notice shifting it smoother.

Had mine done today, there appear to be noticeable improvements.

1) There is a significant reduction in vibration during throttle roll-on.
2) Acceleration seems to have improved.
3) There is much less "jerkiness" in response to chopping the throttle in traffic.
4) Overall vibration at constant speeds over 3000 rpm also seems to have lessened.

Admittedly this evaluation is from a less than 5 mile ride to work but so far I like it!

My dealer, Southern California Victory in Brea, had me in and out in less than an hour, and I was 30 minutes late for my appointment. Good job guys! Thanks.

Just picked my bike up today from the Dealer. After a 30 mile ride I noticed a major change in lower gear shifting smoothness and power. She leaps with new power from a dead stop in 1st gear, shifts way smoother and into 2nd, smoother and into 3rd, smoother into 4th and offers more power all the way through 5th and 6th. S1L2 and I was hoping the popping would be eliminated but she farted with authority from 5th to 6th (something new, in the past she popped in the lower gears.) Still making gurgles and little pops but in different spots as before. Am going for a ride tonight and will know more then.

I can't believe all of the diverse responses from nothing to very positive.

I will be driving to CycleDragon on Saturday to get mine flashed and I hope I get positive results versus the no-ops.

After mine was done, throttle seemed more responsive..but I have the pipes popping on decel and accel every so often and I never had it before. I will probably take it back for a reflash. If it wasn't a recall I would have never had it done, the bike ran beautifully before.

Hey Tim,
What I am noticing with the responses is, if you had stalling issues with your bike (I did), the flash cures it. If your bike was running perfect before the flash, then you didn't notice any changes. Makes sense to me...

Except for mine. Mine runs better, but now stalls after the re-flash which it didn't do before.

Interesting. I am the only guy in the poll who doesn't 'KNOW' I have had the re-flash. Since my bike runs fine, is it possible the dealer did this for me during a routine service? Of the 11 'not installed yet' - how can they be sure? Just curious....

No big deal to tell if you have the proper reflash.  This is called a computer file that is stored in the ECM.  The numbers and dates inform the tech what version is there.  If you had your bike in for service since Sept 26, 2008, you may have had it done.  The dealer should have made a note and informed you of it and there should be information for your records that the SAFETY recall was done.

Thanks, David. I have NOT had my bike in for service since early Sept. I have never had anything from the dealership regarding any 'recall' since April when I picked it up. I shall have to chastise the fellow and get-r-done. Add me to the "Not Done Yet" column.

Seems to me if youve had different pipes and or air cleaner work done and they changed the map for that, the reflash should be a mute point. Im just saying that the reflash i had done for the Big Honkers has already replaced the stock map. Guess i will ask that question when i get it in for the 10K....im there now but the dealer is swamped so.......

How are people getting the flash done on Saturdays. I was told that Victory would only let the dealers download Monday thru Friday. Supposedly Victory uses Sat. & Sun to upgrade the system. Anna if you are reading this let me know something.

To do an OEM/stock reflash, you do not need to go through victory. So you can do that anytime you want. If a service report was generated from a bike and the file sent in during the week, then polaris can send the authorization key back anytime during the week. Then you can flash that bike anytime you feel like it. There is no "download' involved. The file is already in the Digital Wrench, you just need to have the authorization code to unlock it. Big HONKERS, I do not have any information on. If the Nig honkers use one of the Victory fuel map files like the Stage 1 level 1 or Stage 1 level 2, then you will need to have the safety recall done. I seem to keep beating my head against the wall or people just dont know how to read. This recall is a safety issue and nothing else. It is not designed to reduce decel popping or backfiring, its great that it does help some people, but if your bike stalls, and you wreck and end up in a hospital or worse and your bike has not be reflashed, then the blame lays with the rider since Victory has sent notice and informed people not to ride the bike until the safety recall is performed.

Mike,
If your dealer installed your Honkers and did a flash (charged you money for it), then you need the safety recall. There are only 3 flashes available for the Vision:

1. The stock flash (available free anytime you want it)
2. The Stage 1 Level 1 flash
3. The Stage 1 Level 2 flash

Your dealer probably did the S1L2 flash which seems to be the popular choice with the Honkers.

Victory now has updated/fixed software for all 3 flashes. So no matter what flash you have, you are entitled to a free re-flash of the same type that is on your scooter now.

Hope that clears it up...

We are just looking for information if it bothers you that bad then please do not respond. I have had my Victory a couple of weeks, prior to that I owned numerous H-D's so I am not familiar with the Polaris product line. BTW I do know how to read.

The only change I noticed is the bike was producing a wee bit more heat after gtting it back today (I think). I say I think because our outside temps ahve been in the 30's to 50's the past few weeks and when I picked the bike up today it was in the upper-mid 60's so it might have just been that making it feel warmer.
My bike did NOT have any stalling, or popping issues prior to going in and is bone stock.
