Thank you for the picture. Now I know where to look.

I only had to ride bitch on my buddies dresser about 100 mi to Sundance

This is why I carry an inflatable gas can. Packs really small when you aren't using it.
You don't want folks thinking you are on a lovely outting with your significant other.
Just kidding, but I'd bet they'd sell if available.

Had my Vision at the dealer today to replace the chrome part at the rear of the trunk that the service tech scratched when he put on the luggage rack. I asked the service manager if there were any recalls on my vision. He looked it up on the Polaris site and said no. I then pulled out my copy of this thread and gave it to him. He got back on the computer and started searching again. He then said can I keep this and I said sure. I went to get some breakfast and when I got back my bike was done. The service manager said by the way your your circuit breaker nuts were ready to fall off. He said I guess we better check all the Visions that come in here and thanked me for bringing it to his attention.

Just for information. There is no service recall for the Vision regarding the loose nuts on the Polaris dealers website as of this writing. Unless there is a complete package with parts and full remedy, there usually is not one. That is why i had posted prior on this thread on where the recall was found. I have been remiss in contacting Polaris this past week on learning of the status of the recall notice and why and how it had been released to other agencies prior to notice on the proper site prior to national release.

I checked my breaker, it's tight. Is the reflash different from stock? It runs great right now and I'm affraid to change anything.

Does anyone know what the reflash is supposed to cure?

If you will read the first page of the bulletin, item 2 you will see what it cures.

I was wondering what the unusual and specific rider inputs were referring to?

Sorry. I understand now. The different ways people shift. some blip the throttle before shiffting. some people pull the clutch in all the way and release the throttle all the way before upshifting. Since there actually are a few ways to control throttle while shifting up or down, this reflash is to help address these issues. I personally use the clutch for 1st and second gear, after that, i pretty much dont use the clutch for shifting up or down from that point on. I never have had an issue with popping but out of 4,000 miles i have had the bike stall three times for no reason. Always at a stop or while stopping.

Mine died in a huge line of bikes exiting the Buffalo Chip. Fortunatley she fired up right away. I left the trunk light on the night before, she barely started that morning and that is what I attributed the problem to. Then again it quit a couple of weeks ago and I simply forgot about it. After riding a Road King for a couple of years I was used to hitting the kill switch when riding because of the positioning of it.

I just called dealer and they told me to come and they would do the recall notice whenever I can get there. Gonna do it ASAP. I appreciate the heads up. This forum has been a tremendous help. Thanks Dollarbillwi!

Got the recall in the mail today from Victory. Called the service department and will take the bike in tomorrow after work. The recall does say "DO NOT OPERATE YOUR MOTORCYCLE UNTIL ALL REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED" but I'm going to ride to work and then the dealership after work. After 7000 miles and not one stall I think I'm safe enough to go another 15 miles prior to making "repairs".

Ride Safe, Ride Often!!

I took mine in yesterday and sat there for over 5 hours. They couldn't do the reflash because they didn't have it. They were very vague on what the problem was with getting it. It may have had something to do with the fact that I have the stage 1 level 1 exhaust. They did check the breaker but I doubt they found anything. The stalling I have experienced is not electrical, it's not blipping the throttle, and it's not anything "unusual and specific" that I'm doing. It has stalled once every 500 miles on average (about 10 times) but yesterday it stalled twice within 7 miles. Both times it stalled as I was coasting up to a stop sign. The stalling has always occurred when the clutch is depressed and I am downshifting or coasting. It has never occured while accelerating, cruising or upshifting. I don't think they changed anything yesterday to cause this to occur more frequently. The stalling first occurred on my way home from the 500 mile service which was before the stage 1 level 1 exhaust install.

If you read the last page of the bulletin, you will see that the dealer has to make a service report and e-mail that to a specific site for Polaris Dealers. The service report is a file downloaded from the ECM of the bike. Your bike has to be hooked up to the Digital Wrench software to acquire the file. Just as a note, Yesterday was basically the first day for reflashing Stage setups. My bike has the S1L2 exhaust, so i started with my bike to see how the process works. After about 5 hours, i called Polaris Tech support to see what the hold was. He had just overlooked my message due to the way i started the subject line. He took care of me in about 2 min over the phone and gave me a re-flash authorization number. I stil have to get another Authorization code today, due to an error with my laptop and connections to the bike. One authorization code is good only one time. I told our sales people and service/parts desk that when they schedule this re-flash, to let the customer know that it could be 15 min or 4 hours before getting the code back from Polaris depending on how backed up they get with processing these. But at least the customer knows up front to go and eat lunch or shop and we can call him when its done. Please note that anyone with an OEM (stock) set up does not have to wait for a authorization code.  Any dealer can reflash a stock set up with out having authorization.

Thanks David, that explains some of what happened yesterday. They did finally get the authorization number but still couldn't reflash. I suspect maybe they hadn't updated their Digital Wrench software. I'm scheduled to take it back Oct. 7th for the reflash. It's a 1-1/2 hour trip so I don't have much choice but to sit and wait for it. My dealer has had two service managers since I bought 1 year ago and right now they only have an acting service manager. I wish I had seen your post of the bulletin to print and take with me yesterday. Thanks again for the help/explanation.

Recieved my notice today. I have had intermittent shut-off. It will be nice if that went away.

I had my 08 vision to my dealer-Blue Ridge Polaris for a couple days. They checked the terminal nuts on the circuit breaker-they were tight. They torqued to prpoer specs. They also re-programmed
the ECM after consulting Polaris. When I rode home,it seemed as though the idle is slightly higher.

I had mine done today at BairsInc in North Canton Ohio. Guys, it is unbelievable now. With just the reflash, I can now rev match while downshifting AND (drum roll) about 90% of my decel popping is gone. The other 10% is barely noticeable. The woman and I went for a ride and she even commented on how much smoother the bike feels now. I was happy and then got pissed. Why couldn't it have come from the factory this way. Companies are rushing things to market too darn fast or not putting enough Q&A into their products.

I almost laid my bike down a few days ago. I was pulling out of a parking lot, 10 feet into the turn (feet up of course), it coughed and died on me. The rear tire locked up, I clutch in to free wheel it, try to get her upright and hit front brake (<-- my first mistake). The bike went down more and the rear foot board nailed the back of my calf as I was still trying to stop her. Fortunately I man handled her back up, started and got it home. I was ready to return my VFCIII (sorry Lloyd for thinking it was your box) to the dealer where I bought it and Lloyd responded to my email with the reflash recall. I got the letter today and took it in at 4PM. Seriously, take yours in if you have had it stall or cough on you. Hasn't happened at all to me in the past 4 hours of riding and I was trying to make it do it. I need to build up the lost confidence with the bike since my Sunday incident.

My dealer told me today that it should be in the mail today and to bring it by tomorrow. Lo and behold it was in the mail with that statement. If anything happens on the way to the dealer I'm going to ..... By the way this is a good thing, most of the time I'm telling them, this time they told me first, wooohooo!

I rode mine. Hell, we've been riding them like this for almost a year now. I don't think everyone can trailer theirs to the dealer. You think Vic will pay for a tow? Would you even want to do that? They are limiting their liability...

Trailer? Trailer???? How dare you mention that word around my Vision.

Actually, you can press them for it, I think someone else shared they did just that on another recall that said "Do not ride...."

Made sure the breaker nuts (?) were tight last week, as soon as I read about the recall here. Took it into the dealer this morning. The new download makes a DEFINITE difference in the way the motor runs! My dealer is an 80 mi. round trip. I put an extra 20 on it on the way home. If your running the stock map, I recommend the recall as soon as possible. It idles smoother, it has a little more roll on power, even the trans seems to shift smoother. It's like a brand new bike! I'm in love all over again!!!
