Fedex delivered my S1L2 yesterday at work. Unfortunately the mufflers are still there; and I'm 50 miles away at home since I rode my Vision yesterday and had no way the bring the mufflers back home. Will have to take the truck (ugh) sometime next week to work; just to pick them up and bring them home to install.

Have to have stuff delivered at work these days since the unwashed masses like to steal items being delivered right off my doorstep occasionally.

The S1L2's also came with a Victory "performance filter" but it doesn't look too healthy; seems that somehow the wire mesh has rusted and left spots of crumbly rusted metal all over the filter element; am not installing this thing in my intake; less the chance of debris being sucked into the engine. I'll just go buy a new one; not sure if I need it anyway though since I already have Lloyds top air filter installed.

Question: has anyone had their ECU reflashed with the needed S1L2 map; and also are still using a Fuel controller after the fact?

I have the Dobeck JetKit Fuel controller installed and it is currently set for a aftermarket filter and aftermarket exhaust. I can set the Dobeck to mimic stock ECU settings; and I am wondering if it would be worth it to have the Victory dealer re-flash with the S1L2 map; and then for me to add more fuel if desired to give even more pull on acceleration and WOT.

Should I re-flash or just continue to use the Dobeck with the S1L2 mufflers and Lloydz top air filter? Thoughts?

Never used it but I've read that the dealer reflash dosen't do much of anything............ been using PC-V's on everything..........

if all you are doing is changing your pipes, then you shouldn't need to change anything in the programing. Especially since you already have a fuel controller that's set for performance filters and aftermarket exhaust.

Well I also have the Lloyds top air filter as well. I'll stick with the Dobeck Fuel controller for now and see how the plugs and tailpipes look after a couple hundred miles or so.

Initial recommended base settings that the Dobeck was programmed for (Vision with aftermarket exhaust and air filter - stage 1 modifications) was set at at 3.5 (cruising) 2 (acceleration) and .5 (WOT)

Right now I have the Dobeck set on 3.5 (cruising) 2 (acceleration) and 2 (WOT).

Just got done cussing and bitching at the OEM stock pipes, myself and the exhaust sealant putty that I had smeared all of the muffler/mid pipe union after I had reinstalled them; from my test run with the Thrush muffler mod. I didn't know that chit was going to be like a frikken weld practically; after it had dried.

Thank gawd for penetrating oil, and lots of it.

I'm going to sand off the rest of that dried muffler putty from the mid pipe outlets before installing the new S1L2 mufflers. Not going through that tug -O- war crap again.

I didn't know that the S1L2's were straight through (like the thrush). I thought they had baffles in them. Not a show stopper; can't wait to get them installed. Need to recover in place though first, with a couple of beers... before going back out and finishing the job.

Got them installed and finally figured out that trick to the Saddlebag lower access panels (removal and reinstall). Fired her up. pipes sound deep in low rumble at idle, but can't give a good report until I take her out for a run. Unfortunately I have ingested quite a few beers now so have elected not to run up and down the street with them (new pipes). We'll see tomorrow :-)

the S1L2 is baffled, just with a fairly long spiral louvered wrapped baffle. They aren't much louder than stage 1 pipes and probably quieter than your Thrush modified pipes, right?

They are good pipes and sound OK. But I think I'm gonna try the Thundersticks next, I want something with a little more rumble............

Yes, they are quieter than the Thrush pipes. Although that is what I wanted. There was just too much resonance behind me with the Thrush, although they had a good sound.

I do look forward to seeing how the tone develops with the S1L2's.

I also like the aesthetics of the pipe. No ancillary heat shields attached with straps; and I like the better crafted exhaust end as well.

Is there a market for stock OEM Vision pipes? I had drilled the back of them out with the 6each 1/2" holes and cut that angled end plate of of it; but other than that; the OEM pipes are in great condition with only 12K on them....

???

So I got a chance to tear up my locality today with the new S1L2 pipes.

First impressions; they seem to be quieter than the drilled out stock OEM muffler ends that I had previously; at cruising speed. They do have a nice bark when you're behind them and rev the throttle, but it's not annoying or really noticeable when you are in the seat. So that's good... for a Ipod/radio perspective.

Second; there's an irritating spray of rusty moisture from condensation; that emits from them when you first fire her up. I ddn't have that issue with the stock OEM pipes. I do hope that soot eventually seals up the surface inside; so the rusty droplets/spittle ceases. Since the are new; I hope that this is a temporary case.

The pipes do look good though, and I hope I stay attached to them for the long haul.

That would be pleasant ..as long as they don't sound like Honkers. And just the thought of them getting louder over time,,, I digress now.... the DR aftermarket exhaust on my DR650SE gets loud when the packing starting to deteriorate inside... necessitating a repack. Hope the S1L2 sucker's do not require a repack!

First thing I did with mine was mask off the ends and paint the inside tip with barbeque flat black-32K and mine sound great-just enough bark for me.

Yes, I may just spray them ends with BBQ paint myself. I did it to the OEM exhaust after drilling it out; it looked better than the sooty, dirty chrome on the inside of the chromed tailpipe end

The S1L2's sounded really good going in to work today (50 mile highway run). I'm liking them. And the bike seems to be more "alive" (hard to put into words), but I think it has been unbridled a little. I need to get my camera set up and zoom back and forth a couple of times; I have no sense of what it sounds like when it's at speed and under load. I must find out.

I'll post a link to the video whenever I get it done.

They do sound better under a load. I let my buddy ride mine by me at about 65mph, they sounded good, not too loud.........

Before you spend more money stand on the side of the road and have a Buddy make a few pass?'s. Our bikes have so much gear noise when ridding you don't get a true sound of whats going on behind you

This is so very true. I know my S1 L2's are making some nice bass behind me... but I can't hear it at all. I do get a nice low drone at speed... but am really anxious to hear what they sound like to traffic adjacent; and immediately behind me.

If you have a camera with decent video & sound, you can set it up on a open stretch of road and ride past it. I plan to try this soon as I know the pipes sound great from off the bike, but it is hard to get a true feel for the sound when your riding it. Either that, or as others suggest, have a buddy ride it by you to see how it sounds.

I left the acceleration and WOT switchpoints alone. Currently they are set at .5 and 4 respectively. I am still trying to get a feel for the settings; just haven't had a good day and weather where I could find a unused road to play with the unit.
