I figured it had to be something, tell him to line up and lets take it up to the Jackson speedway which is a 1/8 mile drag strip. With your new cams and controller, you could really shame him in person, not just on screen.

Funny you should mention that.  When I took a picture of the dyno sheet from the AVR, I e-mailed that photo plus the dyno video to a Harley buddy of mine at work.  (The guy who turned me on to the Vision in the first place.)   He printed out a copy of the dyno sheet and passed it around the HOGs for show-and-tell.  By the time I got home, word was out:  DFWTV (Don't F*** With The Vision).  He made a point to mention that I don't even have the rev-extender yet.

The guy who pissed me off is a jerk who was ragging on another guy for leaving Harley and trying Victory.  The "other" guy originally had a V-Rod and wrestled really hard with buying a Vision but eventually bought an Ultra.  He has had the Ultra for a year and it has been a maintenance money pit.  He is sick of Harley and is going to either get a Vision or a Cross Country.

I was riding into work early last week (before sunrise) and I came upon another bike just before the onramp and closed the gap (a fire engine red Road King - The Jerk!).  He saw me coming (not realizing it was me yet) and when we got to the onramp, he nailed it.  I was hovering at 3000rpm, knowing he would jump.  I eased up into his 5 o'clock position, hung there and turned up the Clearwaters (we were headed for 80 mph on the onramp).  I could tell the instant he realized it was me.  He immediately backed down and eased in behind a pickup doing 65 (the speed limit).  I waited for him to pass the truck but he never did.  I swung out past him, set the cruise at 70 and flashed him a big ol' "V" with my right hand as I went by.  He never moved his head.  Priceless.

Thanks Joe.

I am old enough to truly believe "you can't please everybody".  Since that's the case, who is going to be the least impressed with anything Vision?  Ding-Ding-Ding!...one very vocal group rises to the top (or floats to the bottom, your choice).  There are a lot of great Harley guys that are members of this forum, some of my best friends ride Harleys and they all know exactly where I am coming from.  I have yet to have an ignorant Harley guy stick his finger in my face and say "You're out of line!  Every one of the anti-Harley posters is B.S.!"  The reason they get pissed off is because they know every poster is true and they have no defense other than to get defensive.  I have never put together one of those posters without some knuckle-headed ignoramus saying something stupid and arrogant first.

My only goal with this thread is to look at it from a Vision Rider/Pilot's perspective.  What would fire me up?  What conveys the passion?  How do I tap into the the essence of what it means to be a Vision owner?  I've tried to include the other Victory models but I just can't generate the same energy.  Even if/when Victory finally gets the respect/recognition that it so badly wants and deserves, the 2008 Vision will always be the first modern American bike that flipped the establishment on its head.

The posters are like the bike.  They aren't made to please anybody except those who "get it".  I couldn't be in a better environment.

SongFan, two of my Harley rider mechanics went to Barton's grand opening test rides in West Memphis and rode the new Victorys. Typical Hardley rider deal from both of them about how much better of a motorcycle the Victorys are to ride. They had a blast!! There was Big Talk from both of them about changing brands - for ohhh - about a week or two.... then nothing.

It's tough to worry about being dropped by your riding "buddies" because you bought an "unapproved" motorcycle.

Hey Jim!

You are so right.  There are two Harley guys at work that have been to FRS Powersports a couple of times.  (One is the V-Rod/Ultra guy mentioned earlier.  The Ultra is for sale.)  I have warned them that they had better be ready for the fallout from switching over.  From an engineering standpoint, they know it's a no-brainer.  I know both of those guys pretty well and they get it.  They know which Harley guys will still ride with them, no matter which bike they are on, and which ones will totally shut them off.  The irony is that the narrow-minded insecure jerks are probably the #1 reason more people don't choose H-D in the first place.

Anyhoo, I can't believe a Harley guy (that isn't interested in the Vision - so he claims) would even admit to looking at these posters.  One of the guys at work got a little spun up about it once and I asked him "How many of the posters have you actually looked at?"  He said "All of them!"  I just busted out laughing.  Priceless.
