Well I don't own a Vision yet either....

After 14 years in the Navy got into the Computer industry in '91. Programmer, Analyst, Developer, Manager etc.. Retired in 2002 to have fun. Buy'n sell guitars, own and operate a recording studio, tune motorcycles, take vacations, work on websites, do some IT Consulting.

Now I'm working again as a Business Process Analyst for Skagit County, Washington.

Las Vegas, Nevada USA baby!
Last weekend at Las Vegas BikeFest I met some Vision riders. They didn't seem to even care if there was a Vision-Riders forum. They're part of a local Victory Riders group, so I think they feel their need of relating the Vision rants and raves, and problems, and chats is good enough with the group they meet with in person.

I grew up on a grain and livestock farm right here where I now live. Family still sends about a ¼ million turkeys to market every year. (My bike money came for that)

When I was growing up trucking always looked much easier then farming full time. Therefore I have been trucking most of my 30 years since High School.

I bore easy so I have played radio announcer and board operator from time to time over the years. Plus, have done all night and day marathons on air to help raise money on listener supported radio stations. Even was once the manager of a Christian radio station for a very short time.

I have also played P/T cop for a local town. Which means I got to look cool while directing ball game traffic, and ride alone and catch drunks late nights. (But hey they let me turn on the whooper) .

I also played advertizing salesman for 6 months. Being a salesman is harder then I thought.

I also have rebuilt a few wrecked cool cars and tried to sell them at a profit (doesn't always work… but least I came out ahead more then I come out behind.)

Own two storage buildings. (No work, just got to collect the money … which is worse then pulling teeth)

In my trucking career, I worked half of it for a large office furniture company. I went to a lot of furniture shows with the booth and furniture. Once that was unloaded and setup I would then cleaned up truck and tried to park it near the show to advertize.

I also built a rolling showroom on wheels. I looked damn good I think and people loved the idea of bring the showroom to their office doorstep.

The furniture gig was great. I met and got to talk to and learn from people who were anything from desk-jockeys, to buyers, to the CEO of fortune 500 companies.

Trucking and shiny trucks have always been in my blood. I have had my trucks in the centerfold of trucking magazines, my picture (as bad as it is) pictured next to an article about trucking, or furniture hauling.

Right now I just try to truck and look good. I am burned out with all the media junk and have worked hard to make people not print my opinions in magazines.
As I said I am just burned out and people expect much from those who get their fat heads in print.

Right now
I JUST WANT'A RIDE!
And try to spend more time with my family.

To you radio guys.
I have a daughter who has her dad's radio bug. Plus, she's great on all aspects of TV.
I am bragging now.
She's a good looking blond who refuses to let her good looks and hair decide what she will be.
Right now during her last year at IU.
She's an afternoon music director. Does some live radio. Does radio and TV marketing. Plus, she now is directing 6 PSA's for a local PBS TV station.

She's going places!
Not using her looks and doing all aspects of Radio and TV is making her a well-rounded and valuable person.

Hey I said I was going to brag on her didn't I?

My wife?
Mother of an overgrown kid (me) and 3 boys and a girl (mine also).
She's has about 12 different jobs at a large rock and sand company. She's good at everything she does so they just keep piling on different types of jobs.
Least the pay and benefits are great.

She too loves to ride!

Ok so I talk too much!
Next time don't ask questions.

Where's Buckeyes Bar and grill?

I'd like to stop there when I am on the west coast.

I agree to keep the post going to continue to collect up as many as we can, but my assessment that only at best 30% to 50% will ever even so much as visit this forum. I would venture to say that the other 50% - 70% either never visits any forum or will be a part of another forum exclusively. Just my unscientific input, I would say we'll get about another 50 or so of the newer folk before this post fades into post land. According to the membership list there are currently 851 members and of those only a little more than a 100 has posted, a whooping 12%. Still by far the best and most fun one to date, come on chime in.

On Average, 3 new members register everyday.

I enjoyed your post very much. A man with a rich history and wonderful family. I'm sitting at a desk in San Diego near Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego listening to the Marines counting out cadence as they run. I hope they have good families too.

Just thinkin' Shawn - maybe we could get our "Webmaster www.Vision-Riders.com" buddy to add a "What Do You Do?" section to the 'User Profile' screen? And maybe you could review this thread and update the profiles of all the users who have responded so far?
Just thinkin.....
Of course, guys like the 'Indiana RoadRunner' would require an extra couple of pages, and some 'unmentionables' would need censoring, but....
And Webmaster - we would need a 'search' function to review the 'backgrounds'. Just thinkin......

Times are tough right now. My early retirement has taken a backseat to survival. Does not matter what they do in DC. This is America. Best place to be, bar none. We are Americans! No one else in the world has a will like us. We WILL survive because that's what we do best. We have our differences in good times, but we come together in bad. That's what makes the US the best place to live. We make all others jealous.
