Our illustrious member Varyder/Cap't Nemo just passed 100k on his '08 Vision.

Now assuming he got 40 miles to the gallon average, that's 2500 gallons.

Now assuming he had to pay $3.50 a gallon average, that's $8750 since 11/17/07.

I just can't think of a better way to spend $8750, can you?

Canada is a 'net exporter' of gas, yet we pay MUCH more. I have 30,000 miles on my VV or 750 gallons.... @ $5.50/gal US = $4,125 so far.

And for me to run my 100k miles it would be 2500 x 5.50 = $13,750

And no, I can't think of a better way to spend more $$ than CHRIS ! I can only hope I enjoy it as much as he ! Chris - you give us all hope that our VV treats us as well as yours has treated you. Keep on racking up those miles and memories ....

Varyder racked up about 60K and Nemo got the other 40K.  Not sure how legit that is for one guy claiming 100K.  Congrats to our favorite schizo.

Mark H must be be close by now also.

Yah - back when we sold it 'by the gallon' - somewhere in the last century - our gallon was a few 'ounces' bigger. Just to confuse us ....
Today I gassed up in Point Roberts - a U.S. piece of landlocked United States of America - and paid $1.07/litre acording to their sign (not $/gal). Same stuff 10 minutes away in Canada was $1.57/litre (supreme).

And how many of you know that there is a 'tiny' piece of isolated U.S. Territory surrounded by British Columbia - no direct road to the U.S. - complete with Customs (US & Canada) - and any American wanting to visit ANYWHERE else in USA has to travel thru Canada to get there?
Turns out - our forefathers weren't too bright when it came to Geography .... (at least we kicked you out of the bottom piece of Vancouver Island (our capital city of Victoria)
"Lesson Over - sorry... "

'Yeah Cap'n Chris! - 100k ! ... keep on motoring ... come and see us! I'll make the bed in the guest suite myself!

We visited there many years ago. Pretty neat little twist of geography. Of course, that was a couple of decades before 9/11. We actually arrived by boat, and I don't really remember any special port of entry event. We never left the marina though.

Sir, you bring up a tragic and troubling time between our two nations. For who can forget the awful atrocities perpetrated upon our land by a British pig. (No really. A pig. In the garden. That's why it has that name.)

A tragic event for our family. I will have you know that I have tattooed on my chest "NEVER forget the Pig War!"

Which, as I'm sure you will understand, is a real conversation starter at the swimming pool.

You see, if not for the Pig War there would be no Point Roberts!

Disclaimer- I may have had to sit through approximately 9000 papers, presentations, dioramas, collages, paper mache' maps and horrible, horrible skits when my kids were in school. It seems that the assignment of ANY TYPE of homework was immediately followed by the cry, "Hey! Let's do the Pig War! No one has ever done that!".

Whereupon I, and every parent I've ever know, would respond the only way possible. By gently weeping and wondering if suicide by 'kid-friendly safety-scissors' was a possibility.

It wasn't.

It was more like 80/20 but who's counting. I'm thoroughly pleased that this crazy purchase a little less than 4 years ago would still have the same appeal and it's actually grown. Many more Vision riders now carry the torch and it has recently broken into the "bad boys" arena. My contribution has only been that this machine can pack on the miles and sharing that it can. I believe someone out there has surpassed 100,000 miles a long time ago, but just doesn't frequent any forum. Many more of you have brought to the Vision the versatility of the machine and the canvass it has for unique paint schemes. Oddly, it seems it has just been broken in despite mileage and I fully expect that in another 4 years the Bentley will roll 200,000 with very little work required. The minimal upkeep of this machine is a plus, but it also substantiates a theory I have. If you ride it often, it will have fewer problems, because machines are made to use, not sit. I see the upcoming year to be filled with some general maintenance, like bushing and bearing replace, I need a rear pulley and shock, and perhaps time to do a total shakedown if I can let it sit long enough.
Thanks all.

This summer we also visited San Juan Island on the SPCSHP - and went to both the BRITISH and AMERICAN camps - so we know about the "Pig War"!

Typical American started it: "The Pig War began on June 15, 1859, when an American settler named Lyman Cutlar shot and killed a trespassing pig belonging to Englishman Charles Griffin of the Hudson Bay Company. "It was eating my potatoes," said Cutlar, who had already warned Griffin to keep his pig out his potato patch. "It is up to you to keep your potatoes out of my pig," was Griffin's reply.

CHRIS - "200,000" ???? - WOW - at my rate, I'll be 97 years old when my VV hits that - hope I'm driving, and not a jar of ashes in the trunk!

Many folks ride in support of our soldiers, I've got one of my own, my son. He's standing on the block in May wondering what he'll do with his life. Five months later he's a defender of freedom, trained for the front lines. A dramatic change in life as we knew it, but's all good and very proud of him.

Yeah, I got ratted out, I put it on that other site on a post which some here frequent also. Around 80,000 miles 'ryder went incognito and wasn't coming out until that milestone, I wanted to see if anyone picked up on.

I got to find out more about this "Pig War" we didn't study that in "ginny" history, you know we started it all, you know, the rest of the nation.

I've rode the oldest road in America from Jamestown to Williamsburg, Greenspring Road. The cool thing is there is a Nelms Lane off of Greenspring, my last name, and my mother's maiden name (a variation, that is).

I need to learn more about "when Canuks owned guns".

Oh, and aren't those "bigger" gallons referred to as "Imperial Gallons"? It must have had something to do with that crazy old British Empire thing that the sun used to never set on.... LOL!
