Quick question. Just bought a new 2011 Vision Tour. I have no use for the tour pack and will most likely sell it. Does the bike come with the color matched cover that goes over the mounts for the TP, or do I have to order that separately? Seems like a $23k bike should, however that doesn't mean it will. Bike is in route to me from the dealer. Waiting patiently... ok maybe not so patiently.

Ride safe,

Jim

$99 color panel. Your dealer can get it for you.

what color did you get? maybe i'll sell you my cover. I always have my tour pak on. Since they dont make the street version those covers may become valuable at some point. like the back rest deal.

I believe it is the Sunset Red. Dealer stated on the website that it was crimson, but it clearly looks like the Sunset. I will verify tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up. I want to get it ordered so I can get this monstrous TP off! LoL.

Thanks,

Jim

You will soon miss having a place to store your helmets and jackets, and you will lose 2 speakers too.

I bought the insert but haven't as yet used it.
It is sitting in the bottom of my sock drawer.

If I ever decide to ride only locally, then I might take off the trunk.

I recently took the trunk off since the wife was unable to ride for a few weeks. I really enjoyed the looks and the ride...kinda felt like a new bike...or like I was cheatin' or something. But I will say, as much as I liked having the trunk off and mounted like a trophy on my garage wall, I really missed the cargo space for my computer and other things needed for work. But now the wife is able to ride again...so it is back on and I have more space than is necessary, that is for sure!

you should have gotten a 2012 instead of a 2011 they came down 3k on the list price. Great bikes hope you enjoy riding it as much as I do my 2011. Have had it just over 10 months and it has over 20k miles on it so far.

But the 2012 doesn't come with some of the standard items the 2011 did such as heated seat and electric windscreen.

Sunset Red is a color available for 2012 models. If your VISION is 2011, then you need the crimson panel.

Thanks for the info.
I noticed that the chromed front tip-over was replaced with a black one and the HID headlight looked to be deleted as standard equipment too.
I certainly wouldn't want to give up the on the fly adjustable windscreen.
The wife likes the heated seats.

I ordered my panel from the dealer. I use it frequently. The gf doesn't ride when it gets below 50 degrees. When she quits riding for the season I take the trunk off. The bike handles differently. It is a bit more nimble and less affected by side wind and truck turbulance.

In the spring I put the trunk back on for the gf. I don't mind it at all because I miss the two speakers and extra cargo space anyway.

Check closely with your dealer..A lot of rumors are on this board about what is and what is'nt on the 2012 vs. 2011 as standard equipment..The only difference I am aware of is the black bars and black front tip-overs. Heated seats, grips, adjustable shield etc. are all still standard with the 2012. Have seen or heard nothing about HID headlight.....Had I known the 2012 was going to be about $2500/3000 cheaper I also would have waited...But I love my 2011 Silver/Black Vision....Good Luck

I got my info from the Vic website. Choose a 2012 VV and customize it to see the differences. Once you add up the extras it is about the same price as a 2011 model. I was initially mad once I saw the price drop, but once I did the research I was happy again

Well I just got my new 2011 for $16399 + TTT. So I can't complain. As for the TP, I am a solo rider and love the clean custom look of the bike without it. Concerning the color, I've found a few 2011 Sunset Red Visions listed for sale. The pictures posted clearly show the Sunset Red paint. I am checking with the dealer now to confirm the color before I order the cover.

Take care and ride safe,

Jim

Your going to have to get one and have it painted.  If they don't make a street version of your model then they don't have a color match panel

V-rodder..The dealer that sold you a Vision is one great guy or not interested in making much of a profit....$16399 is damn near giving the bike away even with the rebates....What was your total out-the door price????Be honest.....The color makes a huge price difference also...Thanks

Ah... Thanks for the heads up. Yes it was a great deal. Been looking at Visions for 4 months waiting for the right deal. Had settled on an 8 Ball for $15k but then at the last minute saw this one.

Thanks again,

Jim

$16399 is way less than I paid for mine in '08. I'm jealous.

Does the lower price of the 2012 decrease the value of our '08's~'11's?

John Frey is correct I had to purchase a black panel and the paint from the dealer, because I could not purchase a pre painted panel. I was told by the dealer that they discontinued the crimson color half way through the season.

Yes he was giving it away at that price. At first he hit me with about $900 of dealer prep fees, etc. That's about what I figured would happen. So I said thanks, but I'll just get the 8 ball. He calls me back 20 minutes later and says, $16399 total. I do have to pay VA sales tax and titling, but that's it.

The lower price of the 2012's is a result of trimming some accessories to get the price down. I do believe if you spec a 2012 to the same level as a 2011, they are very similarly priced. The biggest issue for devaluation is the $2500 rebate imo.

Thanks for the heads up on the color. The pics of the bike really look like the Sunset Red. So Vic replaced the crimson with sunset then?

Ride safe,

Jim

You got one hell of a deal, if not almost un-believeable...I know the cost basis to the dealers and the mark-ups minus factory incentives and you stole that bike.....The dealer you got it from will not stay in business long if that deal is the norm.......I hope they sell a lot of others at a profit or good luck.....Ride on and enjoy my friend......
