Took my Vision's seat in to get recovered today (leather). Seams were tearing, two inches on the left and just starting on the right. May get it back on Friday.

I am buying a new seat. Mine is torn in the same place. I might get the old one recovered or I could sell it for a heated shell of a seat.

I took it to a local upholstery shop called "The Upholstery Guy" here in Chino Valley. Jim does custom upholstery for the auto restoration crowd and comes highly recommended by the crew at KewlMetal.

Cool, though I no longer live in SoCal.

Will start looking at the local upholstery shops this winter

Got my Seat Back today and I must say that I am pleased with the results.

The first picture is what it looked like, the rest are the finished product.

I'm assuming leather, it looks great! What is your bikes color? Start right now with LEXOL and hit it about every 350 miles or so to keep it supple and weather proof, might consider a sunshade so the Arizona sun doesn't turn it weird colors

The pics on facebook are great, for those that want to see the seat on the bike. Great Job Rusty! By the way, I love your bumper stickers, my wife was the first to notice them in your pics and was just cracking up behind me. I thought she was seeing something odd about your seat and then she said "check out the stickers on the truck". ;-0

Original quote was for $500.00, when I picked them up Jim said it didn't take as much leather as he first estimated so he only charged me $425.00 out the door.

Nice work but that is an outrageous price. I have bought entire custom seats for much less. I would pay $200-250 tops for a recover in standard leather without any custom panels (snake skin, gator, etc...)

Matt I would agree but you obviously did not see the pictures I posted to facebook. I tried to post them here but ran in to too many obstacles. The FB pics show that the two passenger panels were also redone. Another point is that the seat on the Vision is much larger than most other bike's seats and takes not only more leather but more time. If you can get your seat done at a lesser price more power to you.

I went to the Victory Ride at Star Island Victory today and everyone there said that it was a great price and excellent work. Also, had I thought that the price was too high I would not have had Jim do the work.

I am the Customer and "I" am very happy with the entire exchange.

I spent last night saddle soaping the seats and back rests and then mounting them on my Vision. Today I took her out for a short ride and love the feel. the seat is much firmer and the rider's (built in) backrest really does support my back now. I was actually toying with the idea of getting the add on BR but now I don't need it.

Going out for about 500 miles tomorrow, that should be the real test.

Don't get me wrong, the work is fantastic in every facet. What people charge for labor these days is astonishing. But I'm a cheap bastard if you ever met one, my wife always says "you want to pay 1/2 of what things are worth." Well maybe things just cost twice what they should? It is very sweet looking.
