If you do not have one of these on your Vision order it .

It makes the bike easy to lift ,adds strength to the frame and bolts on very easily

If I lower my bike I would consider it. Seems a bit pricey for a bent piece of steel though.

It really helps the bike in pothole type situations.

that would have to be one hell of a pothole for a skid plate to provide protection for!! hell you hit a pothole that bike your probably going to need NEW wheels as well... Ill up my insurance policy and risk it.. LOL

It aint all smooth ashphalt in the world of roads . Like I said it makes the bike easier to jack up it ads a base to the frame and if you hit a speed bump it makes sparks

I guess I'd get one when they make a two-wheel drive Vision. I see ZERO purpose for this device. Sorry, JMHO... be careful how you ride. My guess is if you "have to use it" you'll have other problems as well.

It depends on what ride you are planning.

You planning to do something worse than going to Hyder Steve? Again, just my opinion, I wouldn't purposely subject my Vision in a place that would need a skid plate.

Worse? Going to Hyder is one of my favorite trips!

Am I planning something more challenging? Yes.

Well, I didn't mean it in the context of a bad trip, just rough roads. Keep us posted, I still plan on doing something heavy again, maybe not as intense as what you have done, at least not yet.

I'll pass. Seems like more to clean. And I think it pretty much makes the fins on the bottom of the crankcase pretty much worthless.
Probably a must have for a lowered bike, don't see a real need for a stock bike. In my opinion of course.

Not sure on the regular Vision, but the Ness should come with it stock. I would go as far as saying it is a NESSesity. I can't tell you how many parking lot speed bumps I have taken out with my bash plate. I guess you could question if the added bulk of the skid plate is what is causing the bike to hit, but I would rather not find out.
It has saved me a lot of worry as well when that errant rock has flown up making that wonderful 'CLANCK' sound on the now armored underbelly of my favorite ride.
I've spent $180 on less.

+1. Hell if its such a problem I should get a skid plate for the transmission of my Honda accord. It's completely exposed and Very low to the ground!

I can understand it some would rather wedge 2 X 4s under a Vision than add this plate that makes it easy to jack up on a Craftsman Motorcycle lift

Sorry I ever suggested you add something that would make life a little easier.

Ignore the Ness bash plate forget you ever heard of it .

It's not a bad idea, I just wish it wasn't so pricey. It seems like a lot for what you get. I put myself thru school building drilling and blasthole rigs and I can tell you that would have taken me about 5 minutes at most to make.

Vision owners pay 100.00 for one of these

To pay 180 for a real piece of steel

seemed ok to me

I realize people pay crazy prices all the time lol. I've owned a HD for years. Still do. To be honest I'll probably buy a skid plate one day, I like the fact it strengthens the frame.

Now that is a good idea. Had not considered the jacking advantage. Also you can never trust the GPS on telling you what the road conditions are.....that pothole did not seem deep to the duck that crossed it....

The price is good if you only need protection once. My travels do not always go down roads known to me...
thanks for the heads up Trekwolf....

I might get a bash plate. I have bottomed out in Parking lots on speed bumps.
