Hello folks, I have just registered with your forum after a few years of reading about this bike called a Vision. I purchased our Silver/Black vision this past Saturday and thus far am really impressed with his machine. I come from a BMW K1200Lt, a terrific bike that has carried myself and my better half across this country without a minutes problem, really liked the bike. I sold the bike in preparation of the new k1600 or the New Goldwing....Well they have been released and the verdict was a No for either one of them. The K1600GTL really is not a bad bike, I certainly enjoyed it but my better half said she felt like she was getting beat to death back there, the complaint I had being 6'4" was the seating that came on that bike, felt like my knees were going to drag the ground, not such a good riding position. So we went and tried out the New Goldwing, another nice bike however I was cramped and the biggest kicker to me was that here is a redesigned bike (Not) and they did not put that 6th gear in there...
So off we go and look at the Victory Vision, yes it is a V-Twin, Yes the pipes have that rumble sound to them but man I sure did enjoy driving that bike, The SO did not get any more wind than the LT, I have room to stretch, stand, bend and about everything else.. Had the stage 2 put in and a few more accessories, mirror, carpet, heel shifter, Utopia backrest on the way and have got Blue Tooth on the way, so I do hope the communications work well, will be September when it arrives. Just wanted to say hello, have enjoyed reading this site and look forward for more reading.

Welcome!  There are several BMW guys here and they can answer just about any questions you may have.  The Vision is BY FAR the best big guy bike ever built.

I have the Arizona peg adapters along with the Kury pegs and it's a must. I'm 6'3" and can stretch out while riding. Only problem is the guy who makes these for Arizona Vic only does a few at a time. I took me about 2 1/2 months to get but well worth the wait.

Appreciate all the information, coming from the LT, there is alot of room on this bike to stretch, couldn't possibly think of having more. When I recieve the rest of my accessories we plan on taking the bike out on some good runs. Then I will see if anything else is needed. I had also forgot to mention that we had the power ports installed for our heated gear as well. Can't wait to try that out this winter/fall here in North Carolina.

You might at some time consider installing the lower wind deflectors.
Turned in, they help shed engine heat.
Turned out, they let some of the engine heat keep you warm on cold days.

Welcome aboard.......literally! I know folks of all sizes love the vision, but us tall riders know how bad it is to be cramped up on a so called big touring bike. The vision is a tall man's dream, nothing like stretching those legs out, leaning back against your sweetie, setting the cruise and just sailing down the highway. ;-)

Some swear by the lower deflectors. Being long legged I don't seem to feel the so called extreme engine heat that others complain so much about. You will have to make your own judgment there.

You will love using heated gear with this bike. I have ridden throughout winter here in Indiana and rarely need my jacket liner turned all the way up. The wind protection is phenomenal on this bike and the charging system will easily handle heated jackets and gloves for two up.

Being long in the leg you may want to have the dealer order a pair of the toe scuff guards that go on the lower part of the front fairing right in front of the rider platforms.

Get yourself an Ipod gen3 or better and the extended harness so you can permanently install it in the right side saddle bag out of the way. It will stay charged up and is always accessible from the radio controls. Radioteacher has provided a very helpful Ipod guide you can look up here on the forum for setup and control features on the vision. To me it beats radio, xm radio, CDs or any other source of music on a long ride. Don't use one of the Ipod touch models that have a hard drive. They don't hold up very well with the vibration of the engine and road shock.

Buy the small air pump for the rear shock, from the dealer or any small quality bicycle pump that can fit neatly in the saddle bag. You will find the need to adjust the shock air pressure from time to time and an air compressor is a no no here. Very easy to over pressure.

Many get very good tire life with the E3s but air pressure is critical. For many of us 41 psi front and back seems to work quite well. I'm getting about 15k rear and 21k on the front with about 75% of my miles 2 up.

If you are inclined to discuss oil options and filter options, don't ask until you've done an extensive forum search on these topics. Believe me there is far more that you really want to know about oil on this forum. ;-)

Do a search for "service manuals" and you will find links to electronic versions that can be downloaded and saved on your computer for future reference. I don't think anything newer than the 2010 version is available at this time but 99% of it will apply to your 2012.

Most of the annoyances you will discover about your bike have remedies that have been addressed here on the forum. Just do a quick search and you will probably find a solution.

Lastly, if you can't find an answer or just want to start a topic just start a thread. This is a lively and entertaining place to hang out. Don't wear your feelings on your sleeves though, mostly we are a bunch of middle aged or older folks and we say what's on our mind most of the time, not to be mean, just to be honest. Life is too short to beat around the bush. You will find no shortage of help from a whole bunch of good, down to earth folks.

Enjoy!!

I also came from a BMW LT. The Vision is much more comfortable for the taller riders.
