Begin rant -

When I NEED to know how far I can go on the fuel that's left in my gas tank, the damned display switches from miles to go to "LOW FUEL". I already know I'm low on fuel due to the bright little gas pump light that comes on the digital dash.
It can't be that hard for a programmer to fix this at the Mother Ship and then add it as a flash to the Digital Wrench so all the Visions can have it fixed for nothing the next time they hook up to it.

Rant over. Thanks for letting me vent!

I agree, total pain. I think if you toggle through it will give you the miles to empty for a split second before reverting back to low fuel.

Great rant Luke!  There should be a 5 second  "Low Fuel" alert along with the icon on the dash.  After the initial warning, the digital display should default to "Miles to Empty".

I usually never let it run this low as I am worried about burning up the fuel pump.

Not crazing myself about the take over effect. A flash is a good idea, but does it really have to stay on constantly until you refuel?

This annoys the hell out of me too, especially since it starts happening around the half tank level when the bike is leaned over on the side stand.

I was just reading our fuel pumps like to be covered in fuel, and we should go below a quarter tank.
If true, maybe it is good we get annoyed, because we need to fuel up now already. (o:

Or maybe they should relocate the fuel pump, how lame. No fuel pumps like to run dry but c'mon, any cars or other motorcycles have this unwanted feature ?? Not any I've ever owned. That being said I very seldom let it get that low but it has happened...........

I'm guessing that it doesn't show the miles to empty at that point because it is never accurate! LOL

The LOW FUEL display complains worse than my ex-wife when I told her she could NOT have any more money. Best money I ever saved!

On mine the low fuel message switches to miles to go after a short time. 2008. If you dont touch the info button. The little gaspump light stays lit, but info switches to range. I never go below 1/4 tank on any of my vehicles. Especially on hot days. Electric fuel pumps use gasoline as a coolant. Adding cold gas to a hot fuel pump can cause things to fracture in the pump. the lower the fuel level, the hotter the pump runs. You have to fillup sooner or later, why not sooner?

I think it's a liability thing, the computers not that accurate and the last thing mother Vic wants to do is have someone run out of gas when the computer still says you can go 4 more miles.

When I first started driving ( 1973 ) My dad told me " Boy, if you run out of gas and you have money in your pocket, you're a fool" It has rung true three times since then and every time I have a near experience I hear those words ringing in my ears......................

I think we should get either a readout or voice alert that states something like "In xx miles you will be pushing your Vision" or something similar.

I don't actually "plan" on running the tank that low on purpose. It usually happens when I'm trying to make time getting back home from a lunch ride that turns into a 200+ mile ride. I guess I'll just have to stop more often LOL :-)

I hate it when that happens. Dang bike has a mind of its own on a nice spring day.
