New Bohemia, Va | My brake pads are shot and I don't have a dealer close, so I'm going to the metric dealer and see if they have polaris cross-references. I found something online that says honda has the same, and some other after markets under a different number so I'll give it a try.
As for the rest of you, has anyone gotten brake pads for your Vision from a LOCAL metric dealer? |

| I got my EBC pads through Higgin's Victory dealer. No more squeaks when I stop. Had an aircraft tow vehicle with squeaky brakes back in NM. Won't say how I cured them back then just that squeaky brakes drive me nuts since then.....

Midlothian, Va. | My '09 Vision has squeaky brakes also (16k) and it's driving me crazy. I always thought OEM's were the best choice but I'm open for something better. |

New Bohemia, Va | well, at 16k it is pass time to change for them, front, rear or both, depending on how you engage them. I not really open beyond OEM, it is out of necessity, I'm on metal to metal and it reminds me of my old ford pick up. Since there is an "industry standard" for almost anything I figure such be the case for brake pads. Several Part# for Honda cross reference to a marshall cross-reference to the polaris part#. No Harley, only Honda, Marshall EBC, Vesrah... so I'm hoping to find them easily without going to a Victory dealer. |

San Antonio, TX | I am using the ECB pads. The Front Vision pads are the same as the back of one Honda and the Back Vision pads are the same as the front of a different Honda motorcycle.
Just look up the ECB numbers and you might find a dealer that has them. I ordered mine online.

Midlothian, Va. | Never have been hard on brakes mine still have a good 1/8" of pad left. Think I'll just remove them blow out the dust and put on some lube. Still have the original tires on (40/40) and I had no problem or fear of taking that trip to the Keys last week as the tread is just about on the wear bars. Going to Myrtle Beach on the 17th and will replace them with a new set of Metzler's that are in the garage before leaving for Helen on the 2nd of June. I would like to know the Honda part #'s for their pads because I always had good mileage and no squeaking with them.<br />

New Bohemia, Va | I'll have to call you easy rider. I replaced my first rear brakes right at 15,000 miles and front went around 20,000 something. If you are getting that good wear on your tires, you are doing better than most, way better.
Seems EBC is the ticket, Front: FA142, rear FA196. Honda's number is Front 06455-KFR-701 (maybe 702 now) and Rear 06455-MAH-405. Don't quote me on that, I just called one place, Commonwealth Cycle in Prince George and they only carry EBC for brakes, period, no OEM and they only have the rear. I'll have to stop by Ultimate Cycles to see if they have them, they won't answer the phone. I hear they are a bunch of slackers, but if they got the part we'll do good. |

| STOCK brake pads are cheap junk. Get the sintered pads you'll stop ten feet quicker. They last as long as factory pads |

Ruskin, Fl | I needed brake pads or I was off the road. EBC pads had to be ordered. The Honda dealer crossed referenced the EBC number and sold me pads for a Wing. Fit perfect. Much better stopping over stock pads. |

New Bohemia, Va | ...well here I sit, the rain came while I was working on the bike. The front left bolt that holds the caliper to the fork would not come out and I was in the process of drilling it out. I've got the head off, and the caliper off the fork, but I don't want to pull the lines. Soooo, tomorrow is another day, finish the oil change (Rotella 5w40) and hopefully finishing getting the bolt out. I just love these intimate moments with the Vision, I'll be back drilling on 'er again tomorrow if the weather brakes (no pun intended, well maybe, ok...) |

| 38k my origional are just now coming off. what have others gotten? I am surprised by some of the short intervals. Most of my riding is pretty aggressive in the mountain, hard into the turns, hard out of the turns. |

Ruskin, Fl | I was on metal in the low 20s. Heard the bad noise rolling backward down driveway with engine off. Didn't damage rotors, thank heaven. That's why I didn't wait on EBC pads. I was off the road. I liked the Honda pads, made by Nissin. |

New Bohemia, Va | The 142's and 196 are HH, and when I did my look up on line it didn't show the 261's, but they are a match to the stock. Thanks for the info.
As a side note, my Vision is down, the front left bolt that holds the caliper to the fork was a bear to drill and tap out. I lost some threads so I was going to get a longer bolt. The problem is that it is a 10X1.25, nearly impossible to find with an allen cap head. I'll have to try fastenal Monday, but my guess is they'll have to order it. I don't understand why automotive fastners are so hard to find, or why they have to use odd ball sizes for things like this. |

inch and a half or the equalivant to it in mm, probably 35 to 40. The hole goes all the way through and I can cut if it is longer. Any ideas? |

From the sucession of cross-ref I came up with the 142 and that is incorrect. Thanks for the info marc, I got the right ones today FA261HH for the front. I got it right the first time with the rear FA196HH. Now to get my bolts today and be ready to ride by the rainy weekend. It never fails, bike breaks when the weather great, which is okay, because I work outside, and get it done just before the bad weather hits. |
