I was hoping some of you folks could help. I got my clear lenses in and I got three bolts out of one lens and I see there is another bolt at the very bottom of the lens. I cant figure out how to gain access to the bolt on the very bottom toward the head light. How did you folks gain access to this bottom bolt on both lenses? My local dealer wants to charge me like 2 to 3 hours to do this swap out and I would rather try and save a few bucks this time. Please any help would be awesome folks..I have never owned a bike that requires so much work to do such a simple things on it. I love my bike but sometimes it frustrates the hell out of me LOLOLOL.

In order to safely do it, without damaging anything will take someone who has done it before 2-3 hours. Which is why they want to charge for that. But you have to remove the side fairings, mirrors, mirror trim, front valence, upper wind deflectors, mirror painted body panel, and last the signal. That is how I do it. I tried short cuts the first few times I disassembled Visions and 75% of the time it turns into a catastrophe and you end up pulling it all of anyways. Do yourself a favor, let them do it, or just be patient and remove it all. As soon as you short cut, you scratch something! we have all done it, if you say you haven't, then I will respectfully call you a liar!

Nightvision thanks so much for your input. I think you are 100% right brother and I will let my local dealer do it for me.

Fourm managers: thank you for moving my post to the right heading. I accidently put it under the wrong heading thread and since you cannot delete on here I was stuck. Thanks...

I ended up "flaying" my front end open without fully removing the side fairings, but everything else mentioned had to come off, not friendly. A small power wrench "may" be of assistance, but you will probably be just as frustrated. Take it your dealer.

This can be done in a little over an hour. I have had my Vision down to the motor almost. You just need some swivels and some easy temperment. Below are the directions but in the tech section on this forum you will find it about 11th down in the 2008 Vision tech info whitch in it is a link to the manual it is in chapter 3 page 13 with the pictures, they wouldnt load here. Sorry Dain, But as a Vic certified tech. I have disassembled and assembled plenty of Visions in my time I have had with them. With plenty of experience I would definitely encourage everyone to do it the safe and easy way, and not scratch or destroy things. We can all short cut things and potentially damage something. The good mechanics go the extra mile to keep from damaging someones pride and joy, and not have to pay money to fix something. No disrespect. I just don't want anyone to get mad if/when they damage something due to info. they got off of the forum. So I make sure I give legit by the book info. 2008 manual page 3.24

Front Fairing and turn signal lens

remove access panel

remove left and right side fairings

then so on to remove lens...........

3.24 is for turn signal Headlamp/fairing.
3.13 is for turn signal lens - no fairing removal needed.
It wouldn't help to remove the fairing anyway. It never gets in the way.

Even the picture in 3.13 shows the fairing still in place.

I'd have to go out and try to repeat the process, but I didn't have all that stuff off, but I did pull the front valance and worked my arm up from the bottom to remove the inside bolt. There is sometimes more than one way to skin a Vision.

Thanks Nozzledog for having my back, nightvision I am sure they show you the long way to do things in the Dealer service manual. I got what I put in the post straight from the 2008 service manual, this is not something I made up. I have done more than one bike for a restore of Vision's. And like Nozzledog said 3.24 is the headlight & fairing. So no disrespect go back and get recertified and look at your manual again dude(its even worse when a Vic tech gives you wrong info). VisionNWrider anyone here will tell you I know my sh!t and won't stear you wrong. Because you don't have to take off the fairing you shouldnt scratch the paint because I think you will be careful right? I took my bike from a wreck took it apart down to the motor put it back together and this fall at my dealership took 3nd place over all HD and Victory and 1st place in the loud stereo. My dealers techs were asking me about stuff on my bike and how i did it because they were new at it and fresh from schooling. Dain

The manual I downloaded says Copywrite 2009 and covers 2008-2010 Victory Vision, including 8-ball, Ness and ABS models.
I found the link either on this forum or theVMC. I don't remember. It was 22 pdf files wich covered 21 chapters and a poster sized wiring diagram.
I will try to find the link.

Wow Dain, nobody was disrespecting you at all. My 2008 manual only shows a diagram of the front end. Call me crazy, but wanting to know where the info was coming from is a way to correct myself. If the info is there, then so be it. But it looks like your insecurity got the best of you. Seems like your competing with others on here, and trying to become a "Big Dog" It's pretty easy to talk smack on a forum. I'm pretty sure I have a great track record with Vic customers. Just glad you weren't one of mine. But Will at Cycleops already proved that theory! Goog luck with the demise of your forum presence....

Thanks Chris! I didn't realize that they had the steel blue in 2008 either! (me being a smart ass!) Maybe they made the 2008 manual during the summer of 2009 or something!

Ok, Just figured it out. The actual model year 2008 manual doesn't give any of that info on pg 3.13. I got to the shop and looked at my 2008-2010 manual that was obviously made in 09 or 10. It does give the info that was posted. So in short I didn't have 100% of the info. But I was still giving the safe way to do things from all of my experience. But am still contemplating returning to school and getting recertified....

Cheaper to just break the old ones out, remove the screws, and superglue the replacement lenses. Buy 2-3 sets, then Just dig out the old lenses to replace bulbs. Still cheaper than 2-3 hours labour (in Canada - about $200-$300).
Use the KISS method - (keep it simple, stupid)

Some 'Tips' for the GLUING METHOD of Installation:
1. Insert the salvaged screws into the replacement lenses, and using wire cutter, snip off the protruding pointed end
2. Remove the screws with no point, and dab silicon in the screw hole, then place the screw heads back in the lens.
3. Use 'superglue' only in the places most subject to stress, and easiest to clean off on your next replacement
4. Use silicon bead or glue tape in areas not superglued.
5. Suggest this method to your local Victory mechanic. That way, they can do this in 15 minutes, and charge 3 hours labor for the job.

Thank you.
