Has anyone ever had this happen to you? I was gassing up at a station in Sioux Falls on my way to Sturgis this year. When out of no where a guy walks up and starts checking out my Imperial Speeder. (the rocket bike from starwars). We talked for several minutes, then the dude says yeah I realy don't like your bike. My BFF that was with me on an (Ultra) say to the guy "Who asked your F*cking oppinion anyways"? I just smiled said thanks. We watch him walk away anf the a**hole gets on a friggin Nomad, with the awsome tassel package and rides away. Almost the funniest part of the trip.

I wuz raised with the expression: "If you can't say something nice - don't say anything at all ! "
So your 'admirerer' and your BFF were both wrong - IMHO
Personally - my experience with the SPCSHP has been all positive - nothing but good things said - often from HD guys/gals. And my thought is that anyone who goes out of their way to look - is doing it because they like what they see - and want a closer look. Negative comments would be out of pure jealousy and envy.

Shortly after getting the Vision, the wife unit and was strolling around town. At a traffic light, a redneck in a raggedy white ford pickup with a big harley sticker pulled up beside us. He looks over and asks "Who makes that thing?" I told him Victory. He said "That thing is sure is ugly." I told him, "yeah, but it rides great and I love it." After the light turns green and we pull away, the wife says "That sure was a mean thing to say." I told her, "Just consider what he drives and rides." She saw my point.

Nice comebacks.....for those rare occasions when needed.

"Well it is good that I didn't buy one for you!"

"Good thing I didn't buy it for you!"

Or the long version...
"I work for Jay Leno show and we are going to give away 100 Vision's for our Christmas show to members of the audience. I was going to give you tickets to that show but since he rides a jet engine powered motorcycle you would not want them anyway. Ride Safe and Have a good day!"

He - "Man, that's an ugly bike!"

Me - "Whew, I was hoping you'd say that!"

He - "Huh?"

Me - "Well, after looking at what you're riding it would make me sick to think we liked the same thing!"

*Snap*

Rode to Pikeville, KY one day and visited a HD dealer to get a t-shirt for a friend. When I came out...there were about 6 HD's guys milling about...trying NOT to look at the VV. I asked them "What do you think?" and one said "Is that a Spaceship or what?" My reply was "let me show you" and I turned the key on and brought the windshield up.....and they all gathered around to see the goodies that a REAL American bike has. We do have a GREAT HD dealer here that and my wife and I visit often. The VV does get a LOT of attention from most riders....and I was talking to one person and he said" I was told to NOT try one out unless I could afford it because I would buy it right on the spot!" Now thats a testimony from a HD person!

Thats what I usually tell anybody that asks about my bike Don't ride one unless you can afford to buy one.
Once you ride it you'll have to own one. I'm proof did a test ride on Wednesday and bought one Friday and left for the west coast Monday. Neveer been happier with a bike either.

My thing was a back pack and I see now it is "cool" to strap one on your back. I don't have the room in the Vision that I had on the TCD but my balistic black bag strapped on the back seat is a back rest and has more stuff than I could ever need, what ever happened to the "shirt on your back"? No matter how you ride....

Ride hard, ride fast, but above all - ride safe...

I also ran into several inept Harley riders this year at Sturgis. While my wife and I stopped on the Needles highway for a cold drink, a leather clad (new leathers) Road King rider came up to me and asked how I liked riding a Batmobile? I took off my gray leather jacket (used to be black... years ago) and looked him straight in the eye and said... " If it is good enough for Sonny Barger... Its good enough for me!" He looked at me and said WHO? His friend grabbed his arm and told him to sit down and shut up! PRICELESS!!!

I find it interesting that folks feel compelled to express a negative sentiment. I think they must be compensating for somethning.
