On videos they sound pretty similar, any riders who have these installed have any words of praise or complaints??

Ok then, I dont have either on my Vision but have heard both in real life. I prefer the CFR exhaust note myself, the Thundersticks being a bit raspy. I had the Thunder Headers on a Harley a few years back, pulled them off and put on a Boarzilla. Dont know anything about the performance of the two or lack of, just that the CFR have a throaty deeper sound than the Thundersticks to me.

I've got the CFR pipes and had a chance to hear the thundersticks on another vision. I really wanted the thundersticks but trying to get the original heat shields back on was becoming an issue. So, I got impatient and went for the CFRs. They are very deep sounding, but over the last 2000 miles they have opened up a bit and are slightly louder and have a bit of rasp to them. My biggest concern with the CFRs was the volume, and they turned out not to be loud at all, of course this is subjective! They are present at idle and have authority when you get on it, but when cruising you can talk over them very easily. I thought they were too quiet at first, but after having them for awhile, I've decided I really like the volume and the tone.

If you have any specific questions, you can PM me. If you want to see pics, search my username and you will see pics of my bike with them on.

i have the T-sticks. Love them. like everyone else, you do your shopping and listen to every pipe you can. I liked the sound of the tsticks more than the CFR's....its funny, but i thought about CFR's what MKULTRA thought about tsticks...i little raspy and tin-ie for me. Since we all like what we like, make sure you find a way to hear them bothe before you buy. Enjoy. The heat shields for the t sticks are a challenge, but was able to get mine on solid as a rock using a 2 1/2" exhaust clamp, they have been on for 12000 miles + no issues. pics in my gallery.
good luck

Bix,
I asked a person on another forum about the CFR pipes, and what programmer/program they had on with the pipes. I was told that they just had the pipes. They stated they did not have a programmer of anykind, and the bike was all stock except for the pipes with no popping to speak of. Is your bike the same? Do you get a lot of popping?

Anyone know if the exhaust input end of the thundersticsk are flared or straight? All the pics I've seen look like they'd match up better with the stock heat shields if they were a inch or two shorter.

Sorry for the slow response, I didn't see your post. I am running my CFRs with the original mapping. There is some popping but it is really minor. I might get one backfire on an upshift per hour of riding, it seems to be really minimal. The CFRs over time have changed in tone quite a bit, they are a little louder, and have a bit of rasp to them, but not tinny. I really love them the longer I have em on. They are loud enough to give it character and bark if you get on the throttle, but at 60mph you can talk to the passenger without yelling over the pipes.

Just got my CFR's installed, nice low rumble at idle and low roar at WFO. NO popping or backfiring so far and the first 20 miles I was trying to get it to pop. ( smile ) Original mapping and stock air cleaner................Looked very closely at the exhaust pipes/ports while bike was on the work table, I have no exhaust leaks, miracle I guess, 6500 miles...................steve

I just got home from Charlotte, 750 miles, 2 days. One small pop on a upshift from 2nd to 3rd. Really wouldn't have noticed it except I've been really listening for the first occurence. Still loving the CFR's got compliments everywhere I went...........They rock..........

The CFR's are a great muffler... nice deep tone.. I think the Ness big Honkers have a deeper roar... But i definetly think the CFR's are one of the best mufflers on the market rt now. I have very little popping .. only at low rpms when it loads up a little.

CFR is supposed to be developing a full length system and will discontinue the slip ons. They have around 30 left........... Maybe at dicount prices, I got mine for less than retail..................

I just installed my Thundersticks on Thursday. Very low ballsey rumble at idle not tinny at all. I think they are really loud but in a good way. Before people would hear my stereo first then turn to look at the bike now I get their attention from the get go. I think I like them without the shields it makes the bike look slimmer and they are easier to clean. I get no pops on downshifts but do get a backfire once in a while on upshifts between 2nd & 3rd but I got that before on my S1L2. If you want loud and beefy these are for you

I really like the CFR exhaust. I am running Atom Bombs on my vision. They are by far the best bang for your buck.

The price is now right on them but I don't think I can use my fluted tips on them, I love the tips so I think I may go with the atom bomb when I get back from overseas. Send them off, get them ceramic coated and an autotune and pcv and I'll be set. Set back about $1k that is.
