I've added another 5,200 words for your reading pleasure..or pain. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

So that you won't have to scroll, here's a direct link to the new installment:

http://gadgetguru.com/Victory%20Vision%20Blog.htm#Day%2014

As always, comments, both good, bad, indifferent or sarcastic are welcomed.

This chapter is a bit different from others and I hope you enjoy it. While it's a lot of work, it's truly a labor of love.

One thing though, my back is aching and my vision (not the bike) is blurry from starring at the computer screen and taking all night typing this chapter...I'm more comfortable now taking a Vision on a road trip than I am staring at the computer screen for a few hours. People who know me and my love for computers are most likely laughing at me around now.

If anyone in my area is interested in a ride Tuesday after lunch, let me know as I need a vacation from the computer. If my Vision was like Michael Knight's KITT, I could call him to pick me up. Okay, I'm now going nuts and heading to bed.

Happy Reading!

Andy

Andy,

If you are looking for a great time in the western mountain states you have to goto the VTX Range Riders Coloradical that has been done for the past 6 years. It is a growing event and last year had nearly 500 people attending. Dr. Gregory Fraiser wrote an article about the 2006 event for Rider magazine and had a great time. It is open to all brands and types of bikes and the LOCAL VTX riders group that puts it on does a great job with many different guided rides at no cost. I'm posting the link here:

http://www.coloradovtxrangeriders.com/rideinjuly/rideinjuly.htm

Check it out, it's based out of the Denver area and is always during the week of the July 4th.

Thanks Travelin'Man. This looks like a good pick. I'll get in contact with them. I've been in Colorado in July before (a long time ago) and it's great, cool riding weather.

Wouldn't it be nice if Victory management started putting together some Summer tours of us? It would be great to have an organized ride/event that would either start or end at the factory.

Any thoughts on this idea?

Well done, little bit of reminiscing going on. I call it a head clearer, put the order right in your own mind.

So, is "Slick" a good name for the bike? Not, Oil Slick, just Slick.

Slick, it'll do! Good manly name! unlike the other feminine style I've heard lately on here. Then again you could give it a name like they used to give Vans. SLICK & RETIRED!

or what my wife calls me,,,,retarded. I don't know why, but every one knows I'm officially retarded from the Marine Corps. They forget the Marine Corps part, and just call me retarded, and I know they don't mean mentally handicap, because thats not democratically correct.

Pop the champaign corks...The name of my Vision is now officially: Slick! Not Sick, but Slick.

While I've never named a bike before, this will be a fitting tribute to an old riding buddy. (If you joined this thread late, here's how the name Slick came into play: http://gadgetguru.com/Victory%20Vision%20Blog.htm#Day%2014 ). Something I didn't put in the blog about him was that he was well known for shooting album covers for Willie Nelson, Dr. Hook and many others. And, he loved his bikes.

I'm thinking about where to go with the blog and there are two subjects I'm considering tackling. They are a blog about taking the Advanced Rider Refresher Class and, since I follow the financial markets, a story about what's going on with the motorcycle manufacturers these days as due to economic conditions, high-end luxury purchases are not doing very well. I've already done some research on this topic and have found some interesting observations of the current market.

As you guys know, I love riding and writing. Are you guys interested in these topics for future posts? Your input is welcomed.

How about some of them stories from the playboy mansion? That tends to lend to better reading. How do I get that job?

Finally got an opportunity to read your latest installment. Just wanted to say thanks, Andy, for all the work you are putting into this. Your story is very enlightening and entertaining. It's great to see so many on this site as enthusiastic as we are about our ride.
Ride safe, have fun.

Thanks guys...I'm having fun here.

I have another piece ready, but it's only 1,300 words...1,377 to be exact.

Here's a teaser:

"There's something different about pressing the gas pedal on a car and rolling-on the throttle of a well engineered, big bike. I don't care if you're driving a sterile Mercury Marquis or a firm-suspension Ferrari Testarossa, they don't compare to riding a heavy, high-horsepower bike and leaning into a turn and knowing that inertia and centrifugal force are keeping us propelled forward and upright. We're not rocket scientists, but we know the basics of movement and balance. It's more than the wind in your face or being exposed to the elements, it's a feeling of...well, control. We slow before curves, start our lean and accelerate at the apex of the turn. When you're driving a car, you steer and press a pedal. Although we are riders, we are truly driving and controlling the bike with not only our hands and feet, but with our bodies as well. When leaving a curve as we roll-on the throttle, we slowly straighten up and enjoy the feeling of catapulting through space."

So guys, should I release it now or wait?

VOTE HERE!

Wow, that almost brought a tear to my eye. Do you really "slow before the curves"? Dang my negativity! I can't help it, I was born and raised in a blue collar, hard working factory town. Wheres the stories about the playboy mansion mentioned by poot? That O.K. I'll think of a good yarn and see who salutes it.

I think he's ignoring us again. Thats all right almost over my sickness, should be able to type hysterically again. Instead of gettin' all bent up in the Queen's English. I too was looking for bikini's and brew, maybe you have to request it like a game. You know like "Oh great typist in the sky, ye who make these typed letters appear so eloquently before me, please place upon us a good typed story of bikinis and brew!"
Whatcha think, did I play enough to the great typist ego.

Hey Po,

Sorry about the lack of Playboy Mansion stories, but I don't want you to create bunny envy.

But, there is a new post and this one is quite different. I'm looking forward to YOUR comments.
