I have found that I feel the heat more when I wear shoes and not boots. They make fairing lowers that are supposed to help.

The lower air deflectors can be turned to bring air in and help to disperse the engine heat and cool your legs. Or you can move further North...

you'll get a ton more responses on this issue, but the simple solution is the lowers which work like a charm while moving. Personally I do not use them as I do not find the heat an issue like some do, but I also always wear boots and at least long legged jeans, but on long trips, chaps. There is plenty of floorboard to move your feet around to stay out of the blast. But to settle the concern, get the lowers now and enjoy...

I was wondering the same thing, alot of heat at 90F + temps. I don't have the lower wind deflectors but I'm thinking about them........

Either lower air deflectors or boots. But both is the best solution.

Lowers for sure. I'm on a ride in Arizona from SoCal which means we had to cross the desert Thursday. Temps were close to 100F. Turn the lowers in and you can blast enough air at freeway speeds to blow your feet off the floor boards Ok, that's an exaggeration but the wind definitely disperses the heat. The worst thing for me on my Road Glide in the summer was the heat. I dreaded it. The Vision I'm pleased to say has no issue with heat when using the lowers.

Buy the lowers. They are one of the best accessories you can add to the Vision.

Either lower air deflectors or boots. But both is the best solution.

I ride almost every day and last year San Antonio had a record 59 days over 100 degrees.

I use my lowers in the morning turned out in the cooler mornings so I do not have to layer up. (earlier this week is was 55 degrees on the way to work) On the way home that same day it was 92 with the lowers turned in.

The lowers plus my 12 inch high Chippewa snip toe boots make a great combination.

Lowers seem to be the common answer but there was a post here about a year back where a rider removed the aluminum inner cowls and cut 1" off of both sides (following the same lines of the panel) with a dremel. This in turn eliminated the 1" of blockage over the front cylinder and oil cooler created by the panel overlap.
So it really boils down to how many $$ you want to spend or how it looks or effort you want to apply. I tend to do like some others and just stretch my feet further out and forward on the boards which works for the most part. In all reality all big twins get hot in those temps at slow speeds

Is cutting one inch of the alum enough to make a differences? Seems like such a small mod to make a difference between being cooked and not.?

Ark if you look at the "overlap" on the oil cooler and front cylinder by the cowls, yes one inch is enough. I believe the member was from AZ who did the mod I mentioned. There is a post on here somewhere about it with pictures. I would personally only cut from the vertical edges of the cowls to eliminate the overlap and not cut the upper or horizontal edge, but 1" should be plenty.

I would ask those who have actually rode with the cutting the cowl mod to see if there is a major and worthwhile difference. If you don't like it you might end up paying just as much to put it back if you have just gotten the stick-on lowers. JMHO.

Lowers help out tremendously. Was just in 98 degree humid weather and they worked great. Didn't have the lowers last year.....what a difference with them.

In conjunction with the faring winglets, the lowers work very well for all types of weather. Heat, cold, windy, rain. By adjusting, you can control your comfort while riding. Highway pegs are also useful for getting the heat off your legs.

When you cut the one inch of the inner fairing the addiional air going thru the radiator does two things. First, it allow more air to flow helping to cool the engine. Second, the greater air flow is cooler on the left leg. The thermo dynamics, is more flow collects less heat per volume of air, but with the larger air flow is the same as slowing the air and collecting more heat. It works well for me here in Tucson

I held out on the lowers until a few weeks ago, and even though it's a lot of money for some plastic...it is worth every penny. And I am cheap, so that means something. The lower deflectors are curved on the front edge, so when you pull them in, it scoops air and blows it right on the heads. It's a huge difference. I just wish I had them for the last two summers, it would have made a lot of rides even more enjoyable.

I've just put the lowers on myself and can't believe how well they divert and funnel the air.
I've only been able to ride with them in cooler weather so far but it nice to see hardly any
movement in your pant leg at 70mph. But flip those babies in and OMG your calves are blasted with
air.

I guess that has to be my next purchase - after cams! Is there a set that matches for the Midnight Cherry for the attachments or are they all just black?
