OK guys, these came in yesterday and it seems they are spot on. Tomorrow we work on the legs and jigs, and if all goes as expected, we'll be full bore on these in a matter of days and should be able to start delivering them in powder coat in as early as three weeks nd chrome in about 4 or so.

Would you guys also be interested in contoured slip over marine grade vinyl rack covers with an elastic perimeter? Thinking of making these too but would appreciate everyone's feedback if that's something that would interest you.

My question is if you already have the factory rack, will this use the same mount or holes or will it require new holes?

Hey there Ray, and thanks for your interest. It will of course use the OEM mounting holes as I'd never make something requiring owners to fill existing holes in body panels, or require any r'edneck modification' on any part of their bike to use my parts.

Nice job ! It's not in the budget right now but I'll save this in my file.
Just a thought, have you ever considered incorporating a set of LEDs on the underside to act as an extra brake lamp?

Are you speaking of like a protective cover so you don't scratch the chrome? If so, yes if it is reasonable.

Thanks guy, I appreciate everyone's input.

The cover will simply be a marine grade exterior vinyl with a soft backed underside and shaped like the racks. It will wrap slightly around and under the outer edges of the rack with a 'lip pocket' so to speak in the front and use an internal bungee around the rear sewn inside the hem to hold it onunder the rear of the racks. Then you simply out your gear on the cover, protecting your chrome or powder coat as much as possible from marring from bags and such. My upholstery guy patterned them today, but only when he does them and knows his time/materials costs will I have a price for you guys.

Targeted list in chrome is mid-upper $400 range. Black powder coat mid upper $300s, with custom vcolored powder coat like midnight cherry, Charcoal for the SSG, and the new ocean blue upper $330s-low $400s (very expensive custom powders) but closer to the gloss black. Remember though, these are only hopeful guesstimates at this point. I will of course do my best to keep them as low as possible, plus you guyds get 10% off on my stuff if you're a registered member.

Will, have you given any thought to making the "legs" just a little longer to get the rack off of the trunk surface a little more? The stock Vision rack is HELL to clean under because it's so close to the trunk lid surface.

Just wonderin', Luke

We'll be playing with that this afternoon when we work up the jig. It is seriously being considered, as well as maybe just raising the front slightly.

Great work.
Do you have a stock one on a bike there to see how they look with the stock legs? Just a thought since I have a stock one now but like yours.
Will standard SS standoffs work as legs with them?

They will have the legs already welded on them and will fit into the stock location as a direct bolt on replacement. I'm actually meeting with my welder today to make the jig off of a stock rack, then we'll have the positioning to weld our legs onto them.

Hey Will,
I like the idea of protecting the finish with a contoured cover. I can already see the chromed Winged V on my SSG!

Registered where?

Looking forward to understanding the legs like others. I have not purchased the stock Vic luggage rack because of all the negative reviews and fit and chrome quality.

What are the demensions of these racks, they look bigger than the Victory job and that's a good thing, then we could use some decent size bags like a Decker tourpak supreme.......................

Will, you can put me down for a slotted rack in gloss black and a cover. $ well spent IMHO.
