I know the cam upgrade really increase's the hp and torque but I am wondering if there is a possible down side such as increased risk of burnt valves ,I am guessing the lift is not much if any greater than stock since you use the stock springs so it must be longer duration on the valve's opening which got me to wondering.Maybe KevinX or some other motorhead can enlighten me.I guess the reason Victory doesn't use this cam grind is because of the air nazi's I mean EPA.

Duration, and overlap, and timing are the big changes to the cams, and the odds of burning a valve are about nill. Several people are approaching the 70K mark with this upgrade, and not a single problem to date. I have said it before. This grind is the Holy Grail of cams as far as I am concerned. As long as I have been building motors; I have never seen such a great all around performer that makes no sacrifice in other areas. The folks that designed this grind are the best in the biz, and Vic just wished they could have come up with something like this

Considering joining a kevinx "Cam party" in Omaha. What are the pro's and cons of doing the cam upgrade without upgrading the exhaust system? Is the real performance upgrade only seen when both mods are done? Is popping still an issue with upgraded exhausts?

I have been quite frankly I have been surprised at how well the upgrade works with a stock pipes. A little less on the top, but actually stronger in the low, and low mid then the more open pipes. If you do twisties this combo pulls real hard off the apex. Stop light to stop light stock pipes work great. In a real drag race enviroment the open pipes are going to win.

Thanks for answering Kevin.I have seen the before and after performance gains and they look awesome on paper BUT after watching a cammed vision spank an 09 goldwing I know the real world performance is even better than the dyno shows The cams rock Now to get rid of the fuel shutoff at 120

Ok..I know that is has been covered, but...if I save my pennies, and the next time I have the oppurtunity for this upgrade..what besides that work(the upgrade), will I need to do? In other words, any other adjustments, etc?

Well if you have kevinx do it you need nothing else. He supplies the cam, fuel controller, intake plate and all labor. Quick and simple.

Like Frank said. If I do it all you need to do is provide the bike, and the money. I would love to do another Dallas party in the near future.

Cool...also, might be a dumb question, but..does the upgrade, and I am talking KevinX's, mean that I would anticipate any additional maintenance down the road? Meaning adjustments, and such?

Only to your throttle hand and perhaps some kind of lotion to prevent wrinkles from forming around the smile on your face!!

Guess that means your still happy Juan*LOL*

The care, and feeding of the bike remains just like it was when stock, but you will find yourself taking more trips to the store etc. Because it is more fun to ride

VERY!!!! So much, that I don't even care if the wife knows I just spent another grand!!! Just don't tell her anyone, lol.....

Seriously though, the bike feels so much stronger than stock. I really noticed the difference during my 3 hour ride back home. She pulls like a raped ape between 3,000 RMP to redline in all gears!!

So yes, yes, yes, very happy my man!!

08 is $1150
9-10 is $1800
Best way to make sure there is another one is for you to get the ball rolloing yourself. Need either

One 08-Two 09
or
Four 08

As minimum for the trip

I'm still thinking about it . . . I have a little bit of a drive in what could be colder weather. Few questions:
- What is the date and time for Omaha cam party?
- What is turn-around time for '09?
- Does this void warranty?
- Will I really have a huge smile on my face . . . ie is performance really noticable?

Date will be determined once I have the people comitted to it, and we can come up with something that works for us. Time will be schedualed by the participants.
Turn around time is everybody gets in, and out the same day. I can get an 09 done in around 4 hours at this point
Warrenty.....Only thing visable is the controller. Other then that nobody would know unless you tell them
There are several dyno charts already posted around, but on average HP increase, and area under the torque curve are up a whopping 27%; so yes you will notice it for sure

I have been following the reactions of people from all over the country who have had this done. And between this site and the
VMC site I have yet to find a negetive write up on the cams or the cam parties that Kevin has hosted. I'm Stoked!!!

Good luck finding anything negative, about the upgrades, or Kevin.
For me it was money well spent.
You will thank your self over and over again.
Just do it! It will clear your mind, so you can ponder the next project.
