Barefoot Bay, FL United States | Has anyone attempted to put these on their Vision? The folks at Tailgunner have told me they have a set that is 38" long. According to my tape measure, that's just about perfect for fitting them on my "08 Vision. At 38", I'm just about half-way to the tip of the sixgun add-on tips of the S1L1's, when starting at the connection to the header pipe.
Any comments??

Richmond, Virginia | I went down this road with them 6 months ago. After 2 months of irritating communications, (they are not that easy to get technical
information from) I ended up suggesting that my Vision technician call them and ask all the pertinent questions thinking maybe
the gear head hot shot at Tailgunner could relate to him better. Here is what we finally found out. You cannot just replace the
tips of your exhaust with the spinning guns, the diameters are not the same and Tailgunner either doesnt have or is unwilling to make
a connector unit for us to do this with. So the only way you can get the tips is to buy their entire exhaust system and replace the entire
pipe units etc etc etc just to get the spinning tips. I wanted the jet tips for my Vision because I thought they looked better suited
to the Visions design, but the issue was the same regardless of which tips you want. Hope this helps but i moved on. |

They were fun to make. I also made a set for my Dad's Goldwing, as he saw mine, and LOVED them!-------Metalguy

Barefoot Bay, FL United States | VaParadox.....I'm not trying replace just the tips. I think that is impossible, as they don't make anything that small. I'm talking about replacing the entire exhaust, just as if you were going from stock to S1L1, stock to S1L2, or S1L1 to S1L2. The whole exhaust gets replaced. Tail gunner has a 38" complete system, that is finished like the S1L2, as a chrome unit, complete, not just a cover. The last 8"-10" are the exposed spinning sections. |

The Thundersticks not only look good, they are LOUUUUDDD! I watched Mike Schults dial in a set of them. They took over two hours to tune but they sound schweet! |

scotts valley, California | Hey, Mr. Metalguy, I've been admiring the photos of your gattlins just about since you posted them. I am having a friend make me a set with five 1" OD barrels. Do you mind me using your design as a starting point? We started with a sixth in the center like yours, but then he thought he could make spinners out of them, which would eliminate the center barrel. Do you think this will affect back pressure -- even with the kevinx cam? |

Tacoma, WA | I highly doubt backpressure will be affected. I used six 1" diameter tubes, and the stock opening is approximately 1.75". 5 would be no problem. Just to let you know...they did not affect the sound even a tiny bit. Since I made them out of stainless, they have a nice tan sheen to them from the heat of the bike now. I love them! I would send you the files used to water jet out the plates the tubes are pressed into, if you want them. -----Metalguy |

Well if you DID want to undertake this for the group....where do you think they would price? This may be a way of gauging interest??

Richmond, Virginia | Interesting that this topic just re- surfaced again on here. Last month I got an unexpected email from Tailgunner "promoting" their pipes.
When I RE-responded back to them the history that they were uncooperative, hard to work with, and didnt seem interested in making
pipes and tips for our bikes, the guy came back with " NOW I REMEMBER YOU....." Long story short, apparently since I raised so much cain over them promoting their product for our bike when in fact they HAD NO PRODUCT FOR OUR BIKE, they have gotten several other similar calls and emails same as mine SO, they are coming out for 2010 with pieces parts for Visions. See the
squeaky wheel asshole (thats me), does get some grease. |

Tacoma, WA | They bolt on just like the original tips. 3 bolts. Easy. Even I can do it! LOL! I basically used my old tips, and modded them. I guess if I were to gear up to make these, I would need to do it either on an exchange basis, or something. It is why they bolt on, as I used the original tip's parts. No need for open ended tips...-----Metalguy |

I have Stage 1 Level 2 pipes. The stock gatlins will not mount up to my pipes. I guess that counts me out. Bummer.

Tacoma, WA | What tips fit on your pipes now?? Being that I am unfamiliar with what tips' difference, if any, I cannot tell you if they would bolt up or not. Mine use the stock tip's hardware to bolt up. I am a fabricator by trade, and modding things is fun for me. I do it on aerospace equipment all the time, with engineers blessing, of course.----Metalguy |
