If you can get over the fact that I am not a professional actor, director nor cameraman, here is a video for the middle brake light modification from KansasGuardsman.

Please let me know if I messed it up. If so I will try to correct it and or make it better.

Here is a link to the tech thread.

Here is a link to the video.

P.S. I know I need to remove the sticker on my V Panel. It is looking bad around the edges after 11 months of riding. It comes off this weekend.

Hey Paul,

Nice job on the Vis-ectomy (snip, snip)!  I'll also be making the Kury 4710 mod shortly.

Classy opening slide on the video!

Tom,

I am going to remake the video in 720p format. Youtube.com likes that format better and it will look better. It will take me some time to redo the video but this is a good start. I am still trying to figure out this video conversion/editing stuff.

Those two snips hurt me more then the Vision. The whole time I was thinking, "Oh my God, what if this breaks something!"

Those are the best pictures I have on the laptop.

I plan on a video for the Kury 4710 mod as well.

Ride Safe!

Looks good..

My guess is that Victory turn those lights off to bring more attention to the ones flashing..

Would it overload the circuit to connect the top lights to the middle to make the turn signal more
noticable?

Radioteacher! THANKS!!! They didn't fix it on the '09 either. Now that I know FOR SURE which wires to cut, I'm goin' for it. I can certainly appreciate your consternation when it came time to do the snip!

Blue Demon,

KansasGuardsman has been running the mod for six months. Without the "blinker on" the brake lights would light anyway. It should not be an issue.

Great job- This takes the worry out of which wire was it again?

I do have a problem with the color coated ones, I am color blind red and green!

I will be doing the snip this weekend!

Thanks!

Oh.. I don't think that the circuit will get overloaded with the cut...

I think that the mod is great, but has stated "More Lights = More Better!"

I was wondering if someone was to make the top 2 lights flashed (per side) vs just the top one to make THOSE more noticable.

I wish all six tail lights lit up with the brakes and when you turn your blinkers on, the three on the left or the three on the right side of the "V" would flash while the other side stayed steady.

Here's my main beef with the stock set-up:  Imagine coming to a 4-way stop and slowing down with a car right on your tail.  You hit the brakes and the bottom four bulbs light up.  As you stop, you decide you're going to turn right.  You turn on your turn signal but don't move.  To the tailgaiter behind you, it looks like you just came off the brakes because your middle brake lights just went out.  He looks to the left for traffic, creeps up and, crunch, you just got rear-ended.

There are a couple of instances related on this forum about Visions getting rear-ended at a full stop.  I'm always on guard on my motorcycle at a full stop but I think the Vision brake-light system is confusing to the people behind it.  A Tour model has 8 running lights going all the time (with the trunk) and if you turn your blinkers on, the only brake lights available are the bottom two.  I've followed some Visions around for a couple of days at a time and trust me, the last place people are looking is at the bottom lights of that bike.  I'd rather have two running lights and six brake lights than six running lights and two brake lights.

I agree, the bottom two lights are very low, something a tailgater would not see. I like the mod. I dont know about snipping though. Maybe just back the terminals out of the connector.

I agree. This is why I won't consider this "snip".

I completely agree with you on both of those. Shirley someone will come up with a way to get all 3 on one side to blick while the 3 on the other side stay steady (braked or just running).

OK, good video, thank teach. Question, instead of buying this Kurakyn mod kit, has anyone considered trying to find a double filament buld for the trunk, and then using the existing wiring to make the trunk lights act as brake and turn signals? I haven't taken mine apart yet, but I would think that if you could find a replacement double filament buld for the trunk lights, and then tap off the lower lights, you could make the trunk mod without having to buy this 4710 kit. Just curious if anyone else has considered or done this.

I'd like to get one of those Bus STOP signs to come up off the trunk lid as I apply the brakes. But in the scheme of things, the more red light is better and the turn is still clearly visible from the rear. The important thing is the slow down part to get them to back off of you.

Great video on the mod. A simple check on whether or not there might be an overload- just
check the amp rating on the fuse for the brakes lights.Divide the the total wattage of the brake lights and turn signal bulb by the 12v system. That will give you the amperage . Anyone have the
info on the watts of each bulb handy ?

divesharc,

You asked, "Has anyone considered trying to find a double filament build for the trunk?" and the answer is people have looked into it but there is nothing off the shelf for this yet.

Please check out this old thread.

It's a 20A fuse. All the bulb info is on the wiring diagram, pg 510, maintenance manual.

Did the mod friday. Just backed the terminals out of the connector though and taped them up in case I want to change back later.
