Kincardine, Ontario, Canada | My trunk lid rattles while going down the road unless I stuff it full to put some resistance against the lid.
I see no adjustment on the latch or lock to pull the lid down tighter. I was thinking of adding rubber bumpers to provide a positive stop.
Does any one have a solution?
the dealer's fix was to wrap black electrical tape around the latch. That worked, but he lock is cutting through the tape with each opening. |

The only problem with stuffing the trunk to put pressure on the lid is it won't seal and you'll have a wet trunk when it rains.
I went to the local hardware store an picked up a 12 inch length of ¼ OD / 3/16 ID vinyl tubing, I cut that into ¾ inch pieces and then slit those (not your fingers) length wise and slipped a piece over each latch hook. It holds the lid tight and no more rattle in fact you have to close the lid kind of hard to make it latch. I did this early last and have had to replace them only once since then. It's not perfect but it sure beats the alternative. Those extra pieces can put them in an empty prescription bottle or empty film canister and store it in a convenient place like the trunk.

Rockford, IL | I haven't taken mine apart but it appears that the latches are adjustable. Looks like if you remove a few screws the inner "liner" of the trunk it will seperate from the outer "case" which will then give access to the screws that hold the latches. From what I can see by looking down in there with a flashlight it looks like the latches have slots in them, loosen the screws and and the latches can be moved up or down quite a bit.

How about grabbing the striker with pliers and giving it an ever so slight bend. Not much, just a 1/16" or so, better to start with a small bend and keep checking the lid until it fits tight. It looks like a slight bend or two outwards should do the trick.
I don't have a problem with my lid, it fits nice and snug. Otherwise I'd be bending my striker and/or adjusting my latch rather than going with the vinyl tubing route. The problem I see with the vinyl tubing idea is that over time there would be a good chance of pieces of the vinyl breaking off and jambing the latch, its a temporary "band-aid" rather than a permanent solution.

So Cal | I sprayed WD-40 on the little metal plungers in the body, reduced much of the noise. I think dirt gets down there and they bind.

Ruskin, Fl | OK, the trunk rattle that my wife has complained about since day one is really starting to bug me now. I just went out to pull the inner trunk and see if I can adjust the latches. Do I really have to remove 21 screws to take this apart? I haven't put a tool to it yet, but just looking at it there are 6 of the larger silver head screws, 11 of the smaller black head screws, and 4 more black screws with a differant style head. Anybody know if all these have to be removed? Also, has anybody had any success with correcting the loose trunk lid by adjusting the latches.

| Ok, here is what I have found out and what I have done to correct the problem of the noisy trunk lid.
The plungers that the loops rest on when closed are spring loaded and when you hit a bump in the road the weight of the trunk lid compressed the plungers and then they snap upwards against the latch causing the rattle. The plunger springs should be stiffer or the rubber seal on the lid should be harder, but they are not. So, what I did was to go to my local hardware store and buy a roll of 3/8" wide by 3/16" thick (they didn't have 3/8" thick or I would have used it) EPDM weather stripping and run two layers of it in the recess that goes around where the trunk lip resides in when closed. This causes enough resistance to compression so that the loops stay firmly in contact with the latches when the trunk is closed. The downside, if you want to call it that, is that the trunk lid now need a firm push downwards when closing (NOT SLAMMING) the lid and the EPDM weather stripping is brown not black. This has worked for me and should work for everyone and it also helps provide additional weather sealing to keep water and dust out. |

| Oh, another source of noise is the trunk hinges, sometimes the blind self threading nuts used by Victory are not fully tightened at the factory and will cause a squeak (not a rattle) while riding on less than perfect roads. |

The large screws hold the seat in the front and the latch mechanism in the rear. Not sure what was still holding it on, but it's off to the hardware store for some weather stripping. |

LaPorte,Tx. | I have found that the speaker covers made the noise I was hearing. Put some double stick 3M tape under the bottom edge of the cover, stopped the noise. |

Montreal, QC Canada | I put a few layers of duct tape around the "U" and it got rid of the rattle. 21 screws was too much at the time. Come winter I will take apart the trunk. |

It's been a over a year now and I have only had to replace the vinyl tubing once but the most important thing is no rattles. Don't bother with the 21 screws the liner still won't come out, i think it mighe be glued down.

the liner is glued in several places on the bottom, my dealer discovered this when he had to reprogram the lock on the trunk so it would match my ignition key
I've come to the conclusion the vision is similar to a Chrysler, good ideas, but they cheapen out on the production |

| I used a length of 1/8" thick x 3/8" wide door tite all around the mating surface of the gasket and problem was solved! 
I have to let the lid know it is being closed, but no more rattles and no leaks!  |

So Cal | I had more rattle from my rear speaker grilles. I repositiond them and most of my rattle was gone. The plungers on my latches were binding also. A shot of WD 40 cured that. The only time it rattles now is when I hit something real nasty. Im not sure but I think the inner liner is bolted to the frame. The screws just retain the outer painted cover? I'll find out soon. Lady behind me decided to go before I did. Her SUV got the tail lights, left side bag and trunk cover.

Hey Stumpy That KIT at Gregory is mine  They are supposed to install it for me on Tuesday.
I'll post after I see how well it works .It'skinda strange to me that mine rattles but my wifes has no noise from the trunk except when going over rough bumps |

| Been hunting the rattle for weeks. Found one of the retaining pins on the left armrest was broken off first. JB Weld on the pin and that is now cured (have a new armrest to go on come winter). Then I found the right speaker box was really loose on the bottom. There is a hook type lip but the cavity it slides into is rather large. So I took a piece of 14/2 electrical wire jacket, cut it to width and left enough to wrap the lip. Thaat is nice a snug now. Also found the upper backrest had a little movement so thats been fixed. If this doesn't cure it Blackjacks fix gets my vote, lol |

I just got my Vision back from the dealer installing this kit and have only ridden about 50 miles on mostly asphalt and I will say in my case it has eliminated about 90 -95% of the noise I had.
