Richmond, Virginia | I know about 2 weeks ago I posted that i was putting on my new rear tip over protectors (chrome). When i got to the dealer to pick them up, they had shipped the wrong product.
Well, I just got them and will install them this afternoon. Since Im an internet moron, and cannot figure out to upload photos on this site. If any of you want to see them I will be taking before, during install, and after photos. I understand from Victory that I am one of the first people to get them. So, if you are interested, email me directly and I will email you back the photos until i can figure out how to upload my pics on here.

New Castle Delaware | I ordered mine from the dealer on December 5th and they came in yesterday. I put them on this afternoon. Very easy, it took me about 15 minutes each. Hardest part was getting the snap ring off the passenger floorboards without letting it fly across the room! They install with that silicone that Victory just loves to use. I will try to post some pics tomorrow after it sets for 24 hours. It really makes a big difference! They look great! |

Southeast Iowa | Picked mine up today and installed them this afternoon. Not much to it.........clean, glue, set on top and clamp. Do to an error on my part I lost one of those little detent balls under the passenger floorboard. Anyone know where I can get one? |

Atlanta Area | Got mine in on Monday, but it has been too cold to put them on. I'm afraid of that glue not setting up properly. It hasn't got much above 45 degrees at my house most of the week. The covers look nice and seem to be of decent quality. I've got the floorboard riser blocks, I'm wondering if that's going to be an issue. Maybe I'll try putting them on tomorrow.... |

Richmond, Virginia | Good quality metal chromed. Was slightly worried they would be cheap "plastic chrome" covers but its all solid metal. Will install tommorrow when the heat is on in the garage. Its 22 degrees outside now. Will get some pics. Havnt read the instructions and looked at the rear floorboards to see the dis-assembly instructions, but from you guys doesnt seem too difficult unless something apparently flies across the room.. I looked on the back of my covers the production date was 11-24-08 so these things must have come right off the assembly line and into a box out the door.. more later |

Southeast Iowa | If you bought a pair of these make sure you test fit them before you start. My left side fit great but the right side was a different story. The rear leg of the cover did not lay down properly and did not cover the grey, it was about 1/4" too high. I found that firm but gentle tweaking (by hand) was required to get it to fit properly. Also be aware that the rear part "leg" of the cover is V shaped and not flat like the rear tip over. The only place the silicone will make contact is where the bevels meet. Do not use too much clamp pressure! Don't expect the silicone to stick if the steel springs back after the clamp is removed. Since I'm an avid woodworker I have over 200 clamps to choose from, I found Masking tape worked well to clamp the legs of the covers. Hand spring clamps or micro bar clamps worked well for the others.
Good news! I found the detent ball I lost when I removed the right floorboard. The little sucker popped up and out then rolled down the rear tipover and "into the bike" This morning I magnatized a small pick and fished around for a while. Turned out it was hiding on top of my swingarm where it bolts to the bike. She's now back to gether and looking fine! |

Richmond, Virginia | Good information. Will have to pay a lot more attention shortly when i go to attempt the install. Im still not certain what a detent ball is and what im removing it off from. Havnt had time to really look at the instructions yet, all this holiday parties office stuff and ho ho ho cheer is getting in the way of my Vision experience... I was going to go out and get some spring clamps today thanks for the info BigVic. |

O'Neill, Nebraska | Any pictures yet? It's good to hear that the chrome is not plastic....I'm not put out that glue/silicone is used to attach them since there really aren't many places to 'bolt them on.' |

Southeast Iowa | The detent ball and spring sit under the passenger floorboard. It is that ball that makes the little "click" when you raise the floorboard up. VaParadox
The ball sits in a socket which holds the floorboard in its upright posistion. When you pull the pin to remove the floorboard the ball will be free, when you lift up on the floorboard the ball may come out and could roll (as in my case) A good practice may be to put a rag between the floorboard and the bike. That way if it does come out it will not roll into the bike like mine did. This is not neccesary on the kickstand side of the bike......if it comes out it will just roll onto the floor. No need to remove the spring, it sits in a pocket and is not going anywhere. Sorry I don't have any pictures, it is not complicated and not much can go wrong..............unless you loose your balls! |

Rockford, IL | Wonder if liberal usage of some 3M VHB double-sided tape would be a better option than the glue? Properly applied using the adehesion promoter wipes it should hold as well as glue. And if you ever decide to remove them the cleanup would be much easier.

Richmond, Virginia | Just installed my rear chrome tipovers it was SIMPLE took me about 20 minutes. No stress great fit. The price is $229.00
order part #2876573 fits 08-09. Well worth it in my opinon. They are real chrome not plastichrome. The fit and finish is very nice
and they lay flat on top of the original tip overs and wrap around the sides leaving little if any of the original visible unless you sleep under your Visn. I have emailed a couple of you who wanted to see the photos, and they promised they would post them on here for you guys to see. So check around for new postings and you can see the pics or email me directly and I will link you to the album of photos from start to finish. Mine layed flat on all surfaces so there was no need to even use the 8 clamps I bought today. It was a flush fit.

Pocono Mountains of PA | One warning on the "C" clips that hold on the rear floorboards. I put the relocation extensions on and found the the clips have a tendency to become less secure on reuse. I lost one of my rear floorboards. I spoke with anotherVision owner that had the same thing happen. One of the dealers in my area has even started replaceing the pin and clip with stainless or chrome socket head bolts and nylock nuts. I've done the same and the floorboard seems tighter and more secure.

New Castle Delaware | What can I say VaParadox I like chrome too. lol. I ordered the Ness clutch and front brake reservoir chrome covers with flames and the chrome License plate holder last week should be here by Thursday. The lowerair deflectors went on pretty easy. I followed all directions plus used the 3M Cleaner on the location of the brackets so hopefully they will stay on.

Linwood, MI | I'm not a huge fan of a ton of chrome (I hate having to polish it; would rather be riding  ), but those do look nice. My only concern would be how well they'd hold up if the bike goes down, even during something as slow and simple as slipping in gravel on a turn on a city street. Would a little spill just rip them right off and ruin them? |

I was concerned too that the chrome would be destroyed the first time the bike went down. It is hard to tell in my photos but the chrome stops just short of the outter edge of the original unit. The pavement will still hit the original tip over before it damages the new chrome UNLESS the bike goes down so hard it does more concerning damage then what the tipovers can handle. I can take some detailed photos of this if my explanation doesnt make any sense. let me know, but i feel pretty confident that once you have them and install them, you too will see that they are pretty well protected. O'Neill, Nebraska | Looking good....it sounds as though these cover the top of the tipovers. With this in mind the lower portion would take the brunt of any contact with the ground. I'm not one to 'show off' the tipover feature so no worries here.
PS... how much is everyone paying for these? |
