Hand controls defective

Don't say anything negative about the Vision on this site. Members tend to frown on that.

After 10,000 miles I agree with you on afew points.  recall #1 and #2 were taken care of by my dealer prior to my taking delivery.

Recall #3 made my bike run really great and I'm delighted with the reflash.

The radio reception doesn't bother me as I use an mp3 player and it works great.

The dimple and cover alignment issue were addressed by my dealer.

No problem with my IPod cable.

Hand controls work perfect.

Cruise works perfect.

I can ride hands free down straights and around curves and the bike tracks dead on w/o and shimmy or shake whatsoever.  I take it that that means no cupping.  At the rate the tires are wearing, it appears that they are still good for another 5k or so.

NO belt noise (ever) and the belt hasn't been readjusted (as far as I know).

I don't smell gas after fill ups.

We have the same dealer and  I believe they are GREAT.  They have addressed every issue I've ever brought to their attention at my convenience. I'll tell ya what though.  IF I had a problem with a dealer, I wouldn't post it on the net unless I wasn't planning on ever returning to the dealer for his assistance.  If I was a dealer and someone was posting negative things about my service, I may give him/her a special place on my fecal roster.  I wouldn't want my dealer to post negative stuff about me on the net w/o my knowledge so .....

I didn't buy the bike from Polaris.  The people I handed my money to are the people I deal with.  In fact, a year ago when I paid my grand deposit, I first went to a polaris dealer that was only 15 miles from my house.  I thought their attitude SUCKED.  I researched dealers in this area and found Randy's to have a very high approval rating with their customers so I drove 65 miles to Randy's and have been satisfied with their service.

THERE.  I've made positive and negative statements.  What's it worth?  About the same as my vote was worth 2 days ago.

No complaints here about Randy's. They have done the right thing for me. What had me start this post was the " create a gripes post ". To make myself clear, I have had very few of the problems listed above and the ones I did have were taken care of for now. I can only speak to the issues & enjoyments that I read on this forums and others like it. I think people that read my posts believe that I hate the Vision and miss my HD, for the record, I do not hate the Vision. As far as missing the HD, not really. I understand now more than ever that unless your Vision has changed your life you are an outsider, whiner, and HD lover. All one needs to do is look at the first reply to this post. That pretty much sums it up. Feel free to post that I should go back to brand x. You will be missing the point.

After renting the Goldwing, BMW, and HD for the weekends to determine which tour bike best suited my riding style, my decision was made after a 30 minute ride on the Vision...it had the "Fun Factor" that the others did not possess...my 09 has had the reflash and it reduced the number of exhaust popping, radio reception? Don't care as I use the IPOD Nano, even though I had to purchase a $40.00 connector for the Victory IPOD cable so my 4th gen. Nano would charge...no big deal, issue fixed, no other issues whatsoever...and my dealer here in Nashville knows me by name and always asks me how I'm enjoying my Vision and my Big Dog...I haven't ridden the Big Dog since the Vision purchase...and if I'm having any issues...Now, where's my damn reverse! Oh, it's on backorder...

Everything in the list is fixable. The "Boo Hoo" or "Poor Me" attitude of some posters for some rather minor irritations that are covered under warranty may not be fixable.

Man - I would hate to believe that I would even think of anything but God's Beauty as I ride. Do some of you ride all day thinking - "Oh Great - What is that sound and is it covered under warranty?" Fix the problems - and ENJOY the Ride.

I smoke, I drink, I chew, I swear, i don't work out, got a streak of lazy in me, piss money away, can't stay married, my feet hurt, my back aches, my eyes ain't just right anymore, got one yellow big toe nail, and I leave the lid up. No recalls that I am aware of but I might be pushing my luck.

Funny thing but it seems people still love me. Maybe that is the reason why I love my Vision. I can relate to it. Neither one of us are perfect but we are lovable.

Holy crap, Minnow! You're my long-lost, unkown, twin brother!!!

@ ruttrow - By titling this "Vision Facts" you imply that all Visions have all these problems, and that just isn't true. In fact, I only know of one person here that has had all those issues. As far as that last one, making a broad generalization of everyone here based on a couple of folks is not a "fact".

Some of you will be happy to know this will be my last post in this thread. I did not imply anything using the title I did. As I have explained it is only what I have read on forums and they were not all posted by 1 person. I listed dealer support and had someone call me out on my selling dealer, I never said my dealer, or called him by name, IF, ( and I have not ) had a problem with my selling dealer it would be brought up to him face to face not hiding behind a monitor. People can read whatever they would like into anything they would like. Have a nice day.
Mike

Well, here's my take:
Stalling recall #1 Voltage Regulator - ?
Stalling recall #2 Ignition Switch - ?
Stalling recall#3 Reflash & Loose Nuts - half hour at dealer - never had a stall for any reason
Radio reception does not exsist. Maybe it's because I'm in Chicago. - radio fine in town. I have 10 cd changer for road trips
Exhaust popping. See recall 3 - no popping - ever
Dimple in saddlebags - no dimple
Saddlebag alignment - no mis-alignment
Ipod cable defective - don't use
Hand controls defective - don't care
Surging Cruise Control - no surging
Cupped tires after very few miles - tires still perfect at 6000 mi
Belt Noise/Pulley alignment - no noise
Windshield distortion - no distortion
Fuel smell after fill up - no smell or dripping
Dealer support - excellent
Polaris support - just sent me a goodie bag

I guess I don't qualify as a bonefide Vision Griper because THE VISION FACTS aren't facts for many of us.

26,700+ (s)miles and loving every minute of it. I've had some of that stuff on my list, still do. But this bike is phenominal in every regard. I'm sorry some have had it worse than me, and hope you will get it resolved. Those with positive atitudes will still say as they say, and those with negative atitudes will stay the same. I've notice some strangely concocted atitudes from the complainers and their responses, but I won't share my thoughts here. It is a shame that JAM and Miles put a lot of effort into this site and it has become a series of complaining, not informational mind you, but down right complaining. We don't need a seperate board, JAM already did that, the Victory Riders. So far not much complaining over there, but that is how this one started also.

The real beef I have is to those who complain, do you make a sincere effort to resolve these problems with the dealer or Victory, or do you take your atitude with you?

If you find a better bike with HD, sell, sell, sell and go with HD, most don't care what you ride, just ride what you enjoy. If you find one better with Honda, sell, sell, sell and go with Honda. The continual complaining, and yes I've had my share, just makes this another board among many. I think that Vision riders are a cut above the others, pioneers if you will. If you can't take it, get rid of it.

I'm heading out on Tuesday going to Texas, pushing 1,600 miles in little more than 24 hours is my plan. I've not looked for one dealer along the way, and don't care if there isn't any. I've got almost 30k on my belt and I'll change it out Saturday before I go, but if my dealer don't have one, then I'll use it until I get back. I'll have 16,000 miles on my rear tire when I get back, cups and all, but still got tread that I'll live, or die with. NO GPS, or back rest or foot pegs or heat wings or.... Just my iPod, maybe a new CB,.... there's one you left off your list.

Oh, and I'll push another 1,600 miles back in just over 24hours coming home. I don't expect to be worried about all the nagging warranty issues, but just, as it was put early, I'll be thinking on God's Creation. That's why I ride and I'm so glad I can do it in VISION FASHION, as there is no other that can even compare.

Just a few more post to go and I'll leave to all to you... Peace Out!

I think Mikes point was that folks DO have issues with heir Visions and they hardly consider it griping. I'm positive if you go to the Harley Forum you'll find the same. Folks do tend to look for an outlet when they have an issue. It might be to simply vent, might be for confirmation they aren't alone, or simply to express their experience. Unfortunately on MANY forums (not just VisionRiders) there are those who absolutely, positively will not stand for anything negative being said about the bike, will defend its honor like some over protective mom. I guess there isn't anything wrong with that either, unless it becomes personal. Here is MY take: Too many folks JUMP to conclusions about post often times jumping to wrong conclusions/assumptions. Now I know its not real manly for a guy to ask for clarification of anything, but perhaps it might cut down on some of the inaccurate perceptions. Some probably think I hate my bike based on replies, nothing could be further from the truth, YET it has had a lot of stuff mess up and I have posted about it. SOME of those "things" others have expressed similar issues with, some I have been alone. Regardless the info is here for ME to get answers, or for others to be aware of. I kinda like that the forum provides a place to share both the good and the bad, but I also find it a bit distasteful to be attacked or see others attacked for daring to comment negatively. Just my thoughts.

A Harley site I am familiar with is v-twinforum.com. It is a great forum. They have a forum for Victory also but are basically a huge group of Harley riders. They bitch about everything but are quick to defend their love of Harley's.

Over 6000 k in just under two months and I have went in for a couple of recalls only because I received the notice in the mail. Not an ounce of trouble. I am thinking that some of these "cronic" complainers have not owned a bike(s) before and are living in a dream world. A bike is a mechanical device and requires some simple basic maintenance to keep it at 100%!!! Give your Victory some love and attention and she will treat you right!! Happy biking.

Plumley,
If you were to pay attention to most of the list, there is nothing on there that is a "Maintenance" item. They are failures or flaws from either poor quality control on the suppliers side to Victory or even poor quality control after assembly. I personally have a great bike. I have not had the issues that others have had and i do nothing but get on her and ride. Wash her when i can and of course the preleminary minimum for maintenance.

No problems here either. I had the recalls done just to be on the safe side but have not had one single defect as listed above. Of course I only have 5500 miles on is in 5 months so I suspect they could still happen but I doubt it.

Now if I could only stop everyone from asking me questions at the gas stations! That seems to be the biggest defect of this bike is all of the attention it garners. As a fellow rider I definitely feel for those folks that are experiencing these problems because I'd probably be miffed about them.

They just don't happen on every bike.
