Let me say this...this is a great forum. I've been reading this since January 08'. Kinda stumbled on it after I put my deposit down on my bike. I learned alot about the bike before I received it in May. Was able to get things tweeked before I left the dealership from the info I got on this Web Page. I figure after reading a few 1000 entries in the last 10 month's that about 99% of the people that post here are pretty happy with their bikes. There are a few problems that have come with the bike, mostly warranty items that seemed to have gotten fixed one way or another, some taking longer than others. Seem to be a trend of about 6 things that are a recurring topic visited on a frequent basis with some people acting like they're the only ones that encountered any one specific problem. And of course these are legitimate problems for the owners. To get to the point..Web Master please make a Gripe forum for the people that can't get past the complaining, so they can vent all day and if people want to read that they can go to the Gripe forum. I would love to keep visiting this web page to get advice, roads to ride, Vision mods and paint schemes, fun stuff to share with Vision riders and if issues come up for the first time by all means, I'd love to hear it. But if I have to read for the billionth time how some old fart can't hear his speakers, or some weekend warrior is surprised about the heat coming off an air/oil cooled 106 cubic inch V twin motor, I'm gonna find some other way of sharing info with like minded individuals. Please put a complainers discussion forum so they can vent as much as they want to whomever may want to read, and leave the general discussion area to people that get more enjoyment out of the Vision. This post can be the first one there if you like. Thank you

Um, ya know that you could simply just not read the comments, right? Vice having someone go out of their way to make a forum for complaints or "gripes only". Then they'd have to enforce that too. Maybe they should kick off the users who post any kind of negative comment on a thread not contained in the "gripes" forum? Then you could click on "report abuse" and they'd be canned from the site. I would really hate for anyone special to accidently get forced into reading a potentially negative comment. I know it's irratating when someone goes on a continuous rant about their problems. Especially when they're not looking for advice, their only looking to vent. I've been there a few times and I've mostly held my tongue. (Yeah, this IS holding my tongue). I don't know of a site out there that declares no negative comments or gripes allowed anywhere but one forum. I'm sure one exists but I don't care to look for it.

Victory2002,

Maybe we could come up with a special forum or even better yet, internet, for you and your friends. That way you could all agree with everything posted and there would be no negative anything about the Vision. Yesterday I read a post here about a member being disappointed in his Vision, he was called a nit wit, told to take up a different sport, and blah blah about how many motorcycles he has owned. IMO the problem we have here is this is the internet, people will say what is on their mind. For you to start talking about people being weekend warriors is pointless. Please see my new thread entitled Vision Facts.

It would appear to me that from reading your post that those gripers helped you get a perfect bike by telling your dealer what needed to be fixed.

Victory 2002 What a great idea. I remember one complainer that had lid problems, a week later he post a photo with 200lbs. of stuff piled on his lid. Go figure!!!! This bike is wonderful but not perfect.

Where do we draw the line between what is a complaint and what is not a complaint? What do we do with all of the posts that are betwixt and between a complaint and not really a complaint? Now then we will need a seperate forum for "Betwixt and Between" posts. Any voulnteers to decide which is which and what is what?

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Bitchin is good if it is based on fact and not emotion. That's a fact.

How about two forums, one documenting all the truths about the Vision and another containing only lies and half truths telling what a great machine it is, oh yea we already have that one put on by Victory itself.....

Let's not get catty here, folks. If you don't agree with his idea that's fine, but we don't have to be snide about it.

I disagree with the idea because I feel simpler is better. You can usually tell right from the thread title if someone is complaining about something. If not, you can normally tell it in the first couple of lines of the post. If this sort of post isn't your thing, then just don't read it and go on to the next one. In truth, it isn't the fact that people are complaining about somethings on the bike, it's the way they complain about it that gets annoying. I just ignore those folks. However, simply relegating all posts that complain about the Vision to a "Whiners' Forum" just because you don't want to read them would do a disservice to our entire community here. As Smitty mentioned, some of those "whiners" actually helped you make sure you had a bike that was up to snuff right from the dealer, just as they have helped me with a couple of small issues I had.

Just my $.02...

Amen brothers. A separate forum would take away all my fun. I love jabbing Smitty and jawing with varyder and pollo. And when you root around in all those 'words' there is often a lot of wisdom. Remember, most people won't bother even commenting unless they care about the issue - either seriously, or just to poke someone in the ribs. Either way, reading it is your choice.

Good Idea...the main Forum Page could list the options -

     - General Discussion

     - Tech Q & A

     - Tech Reference

     - Vents (not air handling accessories)

Let's vote

I am more amenable to keeping things as they are and those that need to vent indicate it in the title (ie, "VENT: My dealer dropped the ball" or "GRIPE: Victory won't warranty my windshield". My experience has been that a Vent Forum tends to encourage/foster more off-topic and abrasive, and off-color behavior.

I wasn't aware that there was "name calling" in one of the other threads. There's no need for it. I will investigate.

How about a "Rainbows & Sunshine" forum?

Seriously though....the title of this forum is "General Discusion".

You say "I would love to keep visiting this web page to get advice, roads to ride, Vision mods and paint schemes, fun stuff to share with Vision riders and if issues come up for the first time by all means, I'd love to hear it." Well....isn't that we are already doing here in the general discusion forum? So basically you want a different forum for issues that have been discussed after the "first time"? What happens if someone comes up with a solution to an issue after the seventh or tenth or fifteenth time its discussed? Do they post this solution in the general discusion forum or in the gripe forum? Or...how can advice be given to a gripe if the gripe can't be discussed in the general discusion forum?

I'm not attempting to sound sarcastic or anything. I'm simply taking your "gripe forum" idea to the next level of thinking. Pointing out some basic problems with it.

I will side with you in that sometimes some posts can be a little aggravating to read. Suppose you could say a bit of a downer to the day. But you need to look at these types of post a different way. Look for ways to come up with a solution to these gripes. True, there are some folks who have issues that there are no solutions for. But it really isn't that difficult to simply ignore these types of folks.

Ok...enough blabble from this corner....

This website is very much like the Vision itself. It is a great site run by some nice folks and it's membership is great bunch of people.......but it also has a few issues. The Vision is a great bike made by a great group of people and owned by a bunch of nice people.......but there are also a few issues. I can live with these types of issues, don't need a gripe forum.

Hey Victory 2002, What part of Northeastern Pa. do you live?
I'm in West Wyoming.
No gripes here with my 08 Steel Gray. For being a new model bike, there were some quirks,
but taken care of under warranty.

I got most the facts from people that weren't ranting about how crappy the bike was. Just bringing up problems and possible solutions. Your right though, who am I to not want to hear the old bitty's crowin about their butts hurting and how they got taken advantage of. Keep em comin'. Turn the site into one big B****ing blog. Just thought I'd bring it to some peoples attention that it seems that's where this sight was heading, if its not already there. And from some of the responses, some of you can't hold back...you'll bit** about anything!
I will, like others suggest, try to weed thru the ranting in the future. But truly, some of you are real downers, and why you picked a bike that doesn't bring out any pessimistic feeling that I can see is beyond my good natured and optimistic way of thinking. And this will be the last gripe I write, hopefully. Just a suggestion, thanx for your responses.

Hey Wjoel, I'm from Wallenpaupack area. Some beautiful riding around here. Send me an email when you have some riding planned. Maybe we'll be able to meet.

I was thinking a 'Vent' forum would be nice.  It would also save me time...Because, I would probably never go there!

Personally I like things the way they are. If you don't like something, don't read it. Seems much easier than having a separate forum for multiple themes and subjects. And if you think about, it always has the potential to turn into a bitch session anyway, no matter where its filed. Imagine if someone writes something about popping, and someone else wants to gripe about their problem with popping. Does this mean they would have to go to a separate place to vent.

Write what you like, vent how you like, praise as you will. I read what I enjoy and don't bother to read what I don't enjoy. Its not brain surgery. But then this is just my opinion. Maybe I should be writing this in the "brains surgery" forum. Or is this complaining? Or is this just venting? Where do I go?????

Victory2002 might have a point, BUT perhaps it would be much easier for folks to make more posts about their rides, mod's, good roads they have traveled, etc... Then the gripe posts would be minimal. I know I can get sucked in occasionally and in fact may be guilty of a post or so (lol) that could be perceived as griping. Perhaps some folks just read more into whats written. Regardless maybe just more ride type posts would cure the issue? Maybe....

If I may suggest, it is very rewarding to post a way to fix an issue. I recommend it to everyone.

Rather then post again and again "I do not like blah blah blah......" Try starting sentences with "This is how we can fix the the following issue ......"

Come on an give it a try!

I'm with Jeff...K.I.S.S. It seems to be working fine for me. There are hundereds of threads that date way back that I will never read...just like the new ones that come out when they mean nothing to me and are not interesting. It takes 20 seconds to read a thread starter and determine if you will follow the replies.
