Mishka, I beleive that a rider has to find the bike that fits them. I left a 96 shadow 1100 and never looked back. Trippled my miles, fun and enjoyment of the ride. I look at a 300 mile trip as the start of trip now not something to recover from. Ride one and see for yourself. So to answer the question ..Yes... Its more than I could have hoped for.

So Cal
I would do it again in a heartbeat. You cant beat the handling and drivetrain, in a v-twin. I came off of HD's and my last one looked pretty much like my first one. My wallet is a lot lighter though. Nice to buy something new that looks new and diffrent than what I came off of.

Rode HD's for 30 years and am real happy a friend convinced me to try the Vision. By far the most comfortable ride ive had. My last was an Ultra Classic and there is no comparison in my eyes.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and YES! Very happy with the Vision, the way it rides, runs, looks and handles. I just returned back to riding about 3 years ago on a GL1200. I put 38K on that bike in just two years, though she was old and spent 3 months in the shop. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If everyone else was to quit riding the Vision, it would only prove that it was built just for me.

I couldn't be happier. It is the best bike I've ever owned. and I've had a few. Best looking, best handling, most comfortable, but the best part is my wife loves it, and always rides with me now.
9000 miles since the end of June. I'd never go back. I have owned most everything including Harleys, but the most recent were a Valkyrie and a 1800 Wing.

Las Vegas, Nevada USA baby!
It's perturbing the way "Pegasus" (my Vision) always beckons with some subliminal siren song for me to ride it.
I sometimes make several trips to the store for grocery shopping, just so I can ride the Vision.
Yes, and, it's bothersome that when I am riding comfortably along, I'll have to stop when riding with others because they need a break, and I could just keeeeeeep on going!
Another thing; having to reply to the general public about the Vision is a constant quirk.
I was at Bikefest last week here in 'Vegas, and a HD rider pulled up along side me on Las Vegas Blvd and wanted to get me to trade him on the spot.
Two blocks later, a drunken homeless man walked across a lane of traffic to me, just to tell me he loved my Vision, and to touch it!
There are other minor problems that you will find here on VISION-RIDERS forums, but these are the ones that seem to plague me most. Hope this helps,

Ride a Harley if you like the American name (who cares how comfortable it is, right?). Ride a Goldwing if you're all economy and don't care that the bike is plane vanilla, with NO soul. Ride a Vision if you want the very best of both. If you can pony up the cash: See about that 10th Anniv. bike listed for MSRP from the dealer plug on the home page. They only made 100 of them vice Harley's "Limited Editions" that flood the markets. If I didn't have Jane, I'd be on the phone the minute I seen it posted and flying down for it asap. My guess is that she was gone the first day. Other than that, the only question I would ask myself is which color... Most people on these bikes aren't just Victory riders, they're Vision enthusiasts. This isn't just from talking to others on this site. There's a lot to be enthused about, just ask the mechanics who own them (those are the folks I really took a clue from). I was told in Centerville, Utah (by a Vic. Tech and Visioneer) that he's had several bikes in his garage but he'll always have a Vision from now on. I honestly think that if you buy a Vision and aren't overall happy with it, then there really isn't anything else that's going to please you in the tour catagory either. The last bike I had (and gave to Pop) was a tricked out 05 V-star. It's a head turner with shaved metal, marbled flames, REAL pinstripe work, hypercharger, Cobra pipes, Corbin seat, etc. I never got the attention this bike does in one day. It sure as heck didn't run as good as this bike does and I would have NEVER rode 5500 + miles on a road trip with it. I have a neat pic of some Winger's surrounding my bike laid over on it's tipovers in front of a Route 66 museum. I love demonstrating that (gently). I've never chatted with SOOO many people about my pride and joy at gas stations, parking lots, stopped at traffic lights, etc. BTW, as far as handling goes: I'm going to be riding my Vision through the MSF obstacles. Last time I went through the MSF riders course, the instructor told us that he'd never had a biker make entirely through the course without switching to the little learner bikes or dropping their own in the parking lot. I can't wait to put my bike to the test!

So Iam a vtx rider,I am looking at the v.v.
my question to you all is, what bike did you come from and are you happy with the v.v?

I came from a Victory Kingpin and before that a Suzuki Intruder. When I test rode the 'Pin it was so awesome I didn't even want to get back on the Intruder. A couple years later I test rode the Vision and the reaction was about half that. I didn't mind getting back on my Kingpin, but DAMN that Vision was nice. My wife was the final judge on the whole thing. She loved the Vision. After a couple of months of dickering around with the dealer she finally told me to make the deal because she was never getting on another bike with me if it wasn't the Vision. I picked the Vision up 2 days later...

So, would I do it again? In a word, yes. Without a doubt, in a hearbeat, yes.

Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay!
I have a VTX 1800, in addition to my Vision (see my siggy). I have owned the VTX since May 2007, the Vision since Dec. 2007.  I have 9,000 miles on my VTX, 11,000 miles on my Vision. I have long trips on both. It is like comparing apples and oranges. For some rides, I like my VTX better, for other's the Vision. The Vision has more bells and whistles. It's my Cadillac Escalade. The VTX has a "perkier" throttle response. It's my Pontiac GTO. On the VTX, it has been 9,000 trouble free miles. I had a screw back out of the brake caliper with less than 500 miles on it. Less than 30 minutes in the shop, except for routine maintenance. No recalls, nothing. My Vision has spent over 10 weeks total time in the shop. The Victory is a MUCH more comfortable bike for long hauls and for passengers. My son (11 years old, 5'5" 140 lbs) is not crazy about riding on the back of the VTX, but loves riding on the back of the Vision. I have a Wide Open Customs fairing on my VTX. Son doesn't like the wind on him from it, cause he can't hear the stereo. LOVES the passenger seat on the Vision, can hear the stereo just fine. Personally, I like the engine better on the VTX (I can make that sucker hop. Only performance mod I have done on it is pipes, Road House Duellys), but the comfort and ergonomics of the Vision better. If they would just work out all the bugs (I have an '08. I hope the '09's have improved). I would love to magically put the engine from my VTX in the Vision.

Ditto on the VTX to Vision comparison with the exception that I sold both my VTX 1800 and my GL1800 Goldwing and replaced them with the Vision. Power is one thing, but the comfort of the Vision exceeds the Goldwing and the handling is easily equal to or better than the Goldwing (better lean angles).

As an MSF instructor myself, I can tell you that the Vision WILL make it through the course.  I picked mine up last year on a Wednesday or Thursday, and on Friday evening I was teaching an MSF BRC.  Of course I had to try out the bike on the course.  No problems at all.  I was impressed with it, as were the other instructor and the students, to say the least.

I traded in my very first bike I ever owed, a 2006 V-Stat 1100 Silverado. I put 27,000 miles on it in less than three years, so needless to say I liked it. I am VERY happy with my decision to get the Victory Vision. 8500 miles on the Vision since 5/30/08.

I am very happy.
However, I hadn't been on a bike for about 20+ years before the Vision and that was 750 Honda (little by today's standards).

First day out the driveway I was scared to death! Damn bike felt like I was riding some kind of monster. Once onto the county road I kept thinking ‘WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO!.

I was trying to steer her both directions at once and about wore out my arms in the first 15 minutes.

Once I learned to relax and not fight the bike it got better and better.

After several weeks the bike and I started to become ‘as one'. At first windy days and semi trucks blew me all over the road. After a while I noticed that wind and trucks did nothing. The bike tracks where I want her no matter the conditions.
Cross winds, bike just automatically leans into it without me doing anything.

I love this bike! Once I got past fighting the bike and my own ‘what do I look like' the darn thing made me look good in more ways then I can count.
I can corner curvy roads with the best of them, and unlike my friends with their big rice burner bikes I don't have to drag the floorboards to keep up.

You will have to deal with tourist, kids, other bikers, and old folks at gas stations who will ask questions and take pictures of your Jetson Bike. Plus, the corncob crowd will act like they don't see you.

I take it you're in the market for a luxury touring bike. That being the case, there are an even half dozen bikes to choose from. The Honda Goldwing and the Victory Vision easily top the class, overall, with the BMW taking third IMHO. The Goldwing has larger saddlebags than the Vision. The Vision is more comfortable than the Goldwing. The Goldwing is about 3/10's of a second quicker in the quarter mile than the Vision. The Vision matches, or beats the Goldwing in 4th gear or 5th gear traffic passing situations. The Vision has a 6th gear overdrive, and will generally get 2 or 3 mpg better fuel economy than a Goldwing when riding side by side. Since either bike will generally go around 250 + miles on a tank of gas, frequent stops are not necessary. I can run out a tank of gas on my Vision without getting saddlesore. Not so on the Goldwing. 150 miles on it and I need to get off and stretch. Those Vision floorboards, making it easy to move your feet around, really make a difference. I've lost count of the number of bikes I've owned and ridden in the past 43 years, including a Goldwing, but the Vision is the best one I've ever owned. Yep, I'm happy with it.

BTW, my last street bike was/is a Victory Sport Cruiser, set up for touring duty, which I still have. Before that was a Goldwing, a Kawasaki Voyager XII, and before that was a series of crotch rockets and dirt bikes. The Vision is the best of every other street bike I have ever owned, except for sheer top speed. I don't need a bike that can do 180 mph anymore. I can't think that fast.

Ronnie

I am very happy with my Vision.

As I have stated before.

There should be a sticker that states the following over the key switch when you go to drive off with your new Victory Vision.

Warning: If you do not like meeting total strangers, answering questions about Victory (or parent company, Polaris, stock symbol PII), answering questions on the Vision and it features, demonstrating the motorized windshield, describing or physically demonstrating the tip over points, pointing out the cruise control switches, heated seats and grips, opening the mp3/iPod player area, the gas cap door, and all luggage compartments, providing the price you paid for the Vision, the location of the nearest honest Victory dealer, the free demonstration rides and the bikes top speed, do not buy the Vision.

Please know the engine displacement in cc and ci, gas mileage city and highway do not forget to mention that it is an American Motorcycle. Designed in Minnesota and built in Iowa.

Be prepared: People will check out your Victory Vision at stop lights. (Yesterday a blond in a Land Rover smiled and gave me thumbs up.) Some will even roll down the window to ask a question (see list above) or make comments like, Cool, Wow! *Dat is da Real Playerz!

If purchased: You must also be kind to those who walk around your Vision when you are eating or shopping. When you are asked silly things about the Vision such as "When did you steal George Jetson's bike" or "I saw this in the Batman movie", be thoughtful in your reply since, they might really want a Vision but have to many HD tattoos to turn back now, really do not want a Vision but that is OK and everyone should ride a motorcycle that they identify with, third be embarrassed that they paid more for their HD Ultra Electra Glide but do not want to admit it or finally; they go home, do some research and they might just buy a Vision for themselves.

*I had to look up the "Real Playerz comment" because I had no clue what it meant

Came off an 07 RoadGlide and the Vision is far more comfortable. Now the 99 RoadGlide I had before picking up the 07 would be pretty even with the Vision.
Here is the deal, you need to ride what suites you.
I'm completely happy with my Vision, but I was completely happy with my 99 RG (just got ridden too many miles, lol). The 07 RG had some changes made I was not aware of that kept me less than satisfied with it overall. That is why I looked into the Vision. An 07 or 08 Harley EG would have had the same issues that kept me unhappy with the 07 RG. Wasn't ready for another GW (I've owned 2), but I did almost buy a Rune (wife would have been unhappy being left home).
My advice is if you are looking, take it for a ride and make up your own mind.

Bike before was a 07 kingpin tour set up for taking longer trips. Before that had not had a bike for thirty years. Decision to get the vision happened after my wife and I put on 1800 miles during bike week in Sturgis. Four days after the ride she was still stiff and I didn't like how she was always moving around to get comfortable. Even at a 100 pounds her squirming or even standing up going down the road made driving less fun. One sitting on the Vision ( didn't even start it) and she was sold. When the wife tells you to get a new bike this cool you should not say no! I looked at and test drove a BMW 1200lt before I bought the Kingpin but it felt akward and to tall for my six foot frame.
Love the Vision and think it will be my last bike unless I add another bike so my wife can ride solo. The ride is great even in the cold and the wind that alwys seems to blow in ND.

I am happy except for one thing. I have done everything possible to stop the decel popping (S1/L2) and haven't found the cure.
Last bike I had was a Road King. The Vision was a natural progression into comfort. I love to ride and the Vision provides the power and comfort I desired. I've put on over 10,000 miles this summer and had the best summer I've had in a long time.

I too had VTX that I really liked until I took a Vision out for a spin!!! I got a 08 Vision Street with the IPOD link and Stage 1/L2 pipes, it added some throttle response and HP but does have the occasional decel popping. I mentioned to the dealer and he said the only way that he's heard of to get rid of it is with the Lloyds fuel controller. Has'nt been an issue yet but we'll see.

Good luck...

08 Vision Street (Black)
IPOD link and Stage 1/L2 pipes
Although I like crome I'm thinking about painting brushed aluminium panels completly black.
