Westchester Co., NY | I have always felt the VV brakes as merely adequate. And I am now getting a slight vibration from the front brake when slowing from 6th gear speeds down to 2nd gear corners. The vibration only comes towards the end of my braking. Any suggestions for different pads that help slow the bike better? Or ideas of the cause of the vibration? Thanks. |

| Are you only using front brake for slowing from 70-80 down to 20-30? That's a lot of heat if so.
May have warped your front rotor? I'm a full time twisties rider and have no vibration as of 82k miles. May want to have them checked |

Central Maryland | The brakes on my Vision work extremely well. Currently on the OEM pads. I plan to try sintered (have the pads already, just waiting for the OEM's to wear out). |

Central Illinois | I went through my OEM front pads in about 15 k miles and moved over to some EBC type HH front pads. I definitely like the new pads better but have no idea about longevity with them. They only have about 1500 miles on them so far. My OEM pads felt "wooden" to me. |

Taylorsville, KY | I have 25k miles on the original pads and they feel the same as they did when new to me; they're only approx half worn and feel adequate for the bike 2 up and loaded down. |

Central Maryland | It's interesting how some of us seem to be satisfied with the OEM's, compared with others that seem to perceive them as inadequate.
Is it because of our varied past experiences with braking perception of other motorcycles?

West Salem, WI United States | I have always heard people refer to Victory brakes as "wooden" but I guess I don't know if they should feel any different than they do. I've only ridden a few bikes. A V-star 650, Kingpin and an ST1300. I was coming home from work last night, rolling along about 65-70 on a straight country road. Coming up to a stop sign I wanted to practice a hard stop, no one anywhere around, so giving myself plenty of distance I clamped down hard on both front and back brakes, not quite hard enough to engage ABS. I came to a stop much quicker than I anticipated, I only have 5k miles on the brakes/pads, but I stopped quickly and straight, felt good to me...

North Billerica, MA | My Visions front brakes were worn down by 1/2 in 6k miles. I replaced them with HH pads and they show very little wear in 3k miles of riding. I do agree that for such a large bike, the brake system could have been designed with a much stronger bite. Merely adequate is a fair description. |

Your front pads can be wearing uneven. With a 5/16 allen pull the calipers off and look. If they look even lay a straight edge on the rotors and see if there flat.
EBC hh pads will stop you a good ten feet or more sooner. Front P/N FA261 HH Amazon has them for $37.95 I believe |

Central Illinois | That's close to what I paid for mine, but don't forget you need 2 sets to do the front and you still need to pay for shipping them to you. I think my total was close to $85. |

Pittsburgh, PA | i know this isnt important. but i noticed my friends' 2010 gold wing has the same front brakes and same brake pad part number as the vision... he has no ideas with his brakes.. i didnt get to see his rear brakes |

Manchester, CT | +1 on EBC. I didn't realize how well the braking system worked until I installed the EBCs. Granted, I didn't feel the OEM pads were inadequate but the EBCs are like vice grips in comparison. The pads are inexpensive and very easy to change. You may want to consider doing a swap out. |

Waterford, NY | I have a 2009 with about 25k miles (original brakes). As I was approaching an on-ramp with multiple merges, I was accelerating to merge, w/o looking far enough ahead to see that the traffic ahead was stopped. My bad!!! I quickly executed the "four paws" and came to a screeching halt and stopped within an inch or so of the stopped vehicle's bumper in my face (but not without having turned the wheel slightly enough to gently lay her down). With the adrenalin induced grip, I wound up lockng up the rear brakes, but they performed flawlessly. With the tip-over protection and convenient grips, I was able to rather seamlessly upright the old battleship and be on my way. Morale of the story... always scan ahead so you don't have to rely on heavy braking! |

Westchester Co., NY | Sorry for the delay in responding back to everyone. I went on vacation with the family and the hotel didn't have Wi-Fi.
I always brake with both my front and rear brakes when coming down from speed. I will check for any unevenness when there is a little more light out. But in the mean time I will order the EBC HH pads and give those a try.

Central Maryland | Sintered brakes will transfer some the heat to your caliper, I like how they work on my Rocket 3. No brake fade. A lot better than organic pads. |

Glendale, AZ United States | I have the EBC in the front and OEM in the rear since no need to replace those as yet. I have an 09 with about 25K as well. I am personally not a fan of the brakes. You grab a hold of the front brakes and the whole front end has a tendency to dip forward, especially at lower speeds. I cant speak about the ABS system since I don't have it on the 09 and I come from a BMW background where the brakes are just the opposite and somewhat on the touchy side. You can never have enough stopping power as far as I'm concerned and will take "touchy" over "woodlike" any day. Vlad. |

Gainesville Fl Home of the Gators | If you really want to improve your brakes. Then you need to go with bigger rotors. Those hard pads will help a little, but make a bunch of noise, and eat up parts. Here is what you really need

Westchester Co., NY | A question for kevinx. According to the link the rotors are just for the Cross models. I believe the Vision and Cross models have different forks. So would they fit? And when you say the sintered pads would eat up parts do you mean just the rotors, or other parts as well? And would the wear be much faster or just a bit? |
