I know this question wreaks of Goldwing and Ultra accessory nonsense, but I have been spoiled on previous bikes including an Ultra and Fatboy...

My question relates to the Kruzer Kaddy and the mounting options. I understand they offer a custom mount option for the Vision that in some way utilizes the left-side clutch MC mounts. I guess my "question" is if the clutch mount option is a real advantage compared to their improved bar-mount option...

My question is for those that have played with the Kruzer Kaddy and (preferably) have tried the different mounting options.

My leaning for the time being is to go with the traditional (larger) mount putting the holder on the outside of the bars. I pose the question to get some 1st hand experience. I am leery of the clutch MC mount option, mainly because I tend to prefer an option that is "behind" the controls and more subdued.

This ranks up there with the best oil for a Vision IMHO but I wanted to ask the question since there is a ton of experience here!

I started out with the traditional bar mount (both behind and in front of the bars). Forward of the bars, it was an awkward reach. Behind the bars (rider side) it was a good reach but got in the way of.....everything. Too cramped. I discovered the clutch housing mount, talked KK into selling me a raw version which I had powdercoated black (my bars/controls came black from the factory). Easy mount and it's in just the right spot. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't hesitate on the clutch housing mount. (If you happen to have an '08, it's almost impossible to use the traditional bar mount anyway.)

For me the traditional mount on the outside next to the clutch works great. I have zero issues with reach even with my short arms.  You can see it if you follow the link in my signature.

I have one on each side mounted to the outside. Never had any issues. I have a gps bridge mounted that would allow inside mounting even if I wanted it. The outside mounting keeps everthing out of sight. If I have tall bottles in them, they only block the mirrors where my hands are reflecting back at me. Older model Visions with oval bars do require longer bolts.

That is what I am debating- the traditional mount vs. the clutch MC mount.

This is on a 2013 so the "new version" clamp would work fine for some reason I can't find any good pics of either the traditional clamp or the clutch MC mount to see for myself.

I am leaning toward the traditional clamp mounted on the outside of the left bar with the thought that the mount, holder and cup would be available but out of the way.

If anyone with either mounting method but especially the clutch option, some pics would be greatly appreciated!

What do you need to order to mount it on the Vision? E.g. Their custom bracket. Nozzledog could you post w pics of yours please.

Here is a picture of my standard mount.  You can see I added some foam around the bar to give it a good secure (and non scratch) mount.  BTW, I've over 23K miles and the mount is solid.

I honestly don't care where anybody mounts it. The clutch mount works well for me. Here are a few pics. (I don't have the mirrors mounted anymore but they ARE for sale.)

Kruzer Kaddy. Noemtz sells the chrome version on his site (as do some others). Nobody seems to sell a black version so I had to convince the KK home office to sell me a raw version (no coating). I sent it to Witchdoctors to get p/c'ed. I tried to convince a few places to carry the black p/c'ed version but nobody wanted to bite. If I had access to a good, inexpensive p/c'er, I'd buy a bunch of the raw ones, have them p/c'ed and sell them myself. I think I paid around $16 including shipping for the raw bracket and nut/bolt kit. (I already had the cup holder part.)

I prefer the TOP mount - well, when I was younger. Nowadays, the best is the UNDERMOUNT, with the Co-Pilot on TOP.

That's the kind of s**t you have to deal with as you approach 70 ... I'm sure you youngsters will work out your best mount method.

Appreciate all of the comments and feedback...

Looks like the traditional clamp in in black ala JS5 is what I was "envisioning" and what I would prefer.

For $110, I'd hope you like it! That's a lot of scratch for a cup holder.

Especially if you consider that you would still have to buy the Butler Cup System for another $50.00 or so. Sounds like a lot of scratch for a small piece of machined aluminum and a couple of small fastener parts.

I have a Butler system I had mounted on the Gold Wing. I'm going to machine an adaptor so I can mount it on my right side because I have my Zumo 550 mounted on the left side. Looking at the Kruzer Kaddy, I believe I prefer the Butler system. JMHO

I agree it looks more finished than the KK setup but I can deal with the KK setup just fine and spend the $140 difference on a hell of a lot of gas. If I was able to machine my own parts, I'd think about it.

Nobody told you because it can be a delicate subject for some... Just figured that if you had gone 50+ years without a mount, something wasn't working anymore and you either needed to get some Viagra or enter a monastery...

Seriously, I just prefer a cup of coffee on the way into work. Had a Kruzer Kaddy on my Electra Glide and Fatboy and thought they were pretty darn handy and well built. Yup, the Vision runs well without one and I have no intention of adding any cup holding farkle on the Concours but some strong black-and-bitter would be a nice addition to the morning Interstate commute.
