There's the good ole' Virginia I've come to love and know. For awhile there, you had softened and were using big words like "inexpensive" and such and "if I went to Alaska". Nice to see cheap and lazy return. Stick to your guns!

OK Chris, I know you are respected poster here and I certainly appreciate the good information you share with us fellow Victory riders. That being said, I take exception with your comments about us Dark Siders being lazy and cheap. I am retired with a nice pension and Social Security and my wife has a good job as well. Money is not a problem. As far as being lazy, not real sure what you mean by the comment, I've never been accused of being lazy after working in sales for over thirty years with half my income based upon commission. I simply feel safer with a car tire on the back of my ride. This is my third car tire, two on my previously owned Honda Valkyrie and one on my Vision. I've got close to 45,000 miles total with not one negative experience. Better rear braking, better traction in the rain, and yes the run flat insurance just to name a couple of advantages I experience. I have searched high and low to find any situation where a car tire caused a death, let alone an accident on a motorcycle. In closing we're all entitled to our opinions and if you don't feel comfortable on one, then don't have one put on.

BTW, on Monday I'm having a Bridgestone Battlax installed on the front of my Vision.

After all the whining I here against the darkside I put a potenza on about 1200 miles ago. Damn thing stops on a dime. tried to skid at slow spee wet surface almost went over the handle bars. Went through the twistys around Kernville wife asked that I slow down as she was getting car sick. Corners are not a problem. The speedometer is off 4 mph at 84 mph the GPS says 80 but the E3 was off 2 mph at the same speed. I have some anxietywhenI do high speed corners because of all the gloom and doom I have heard from none darksiders. Nothing has happened yet. I remember the fist time I scraped the bike on a corner with an E3 same anxiety when the floorboards get close to the ground I pull my toes up waiting for the scrape. The back does not jump around as much on ground concrete as the E3. I think as the newness of having a CT on back wears off I will forget that it is even on. Right now I am looking for problems and differences but I am very satisfied with it now. As far as being cheap how cheap is the thrush mod and if engineers get everything right why are there recalls .

I ran DS on my C90

Everyone said I was crazy. But you have to try it before you can crap on it.

It worked good for me and lasted a long time. And the braking is much better than a MC tire.

I could scrape the boards with the car tire never a slip or wiggle.

If you do a lot of straight long haul highway runs a car tire cant be beat.

I put on a CT and was VERY disappointed. I was absolutely positive it could NOT handle anything like a MT designed by experts just for motorcycles, but was I wrong. It defies logic, but so does a bumblebee.
Yesterday was another beautiful SoCal day for riding, so I put on my Nomex britches and hit Glendor Ridge Road. Again, very disappointed. After all my preperations, the damned thing didn't explode!
I've only got about 5000 miles left on it, and can't wait to see what the inside sidewalls look like when I take it off. I'm. SURE they will be all mangled and I won't believe how close I came to death. (I feel another disappointment coming on)

Just joined the darkside on wednesday. I will try most things once, and twice if I like it. And I like it.

Hey gray, can you post a pic of the battle ax on the front. I'm concerned about the clearance between the tire and the fender. I heard that all tires of this size are not the same, someone lost a fender. But as I remember the battleax is the way to go...
Are you gonna run it backwards?

140/70 rear Battlax fits, 140/70 front Metzeler does NOT! It was me who rubbed a hole in my fender. I think you can get away with the Battlax not rubbing in the same size because it is a rear tire and a little flatter thru the middle. Specs show a 1/2" height difference between the two.
What was the reason for putting a rear tire on the front again? Will a bias rear tire last as long/longer than a radial front tire? Are they stronger? Cheaper?
Pros and Cons people, please!

+1 on all the posative's. I feel safer in the curves. Safer stopping in all conditions. Safer in the grass & sand & rocks. Get a better ride. Safe with a flat tire, put a hole in one with a road hazard, all I felt was like it was just low.Bridgestone G019 Potenza 185/65-16 (I have a trailer hitch. Got my start with car tire on a 650 Burgman, couldn't take a trip without haveing to change a rear tire or haveing to change it while out on a trip. I like to do miy on work. Then in Kansa City I got cut of in traffic on the interstate, Hard braking & excellent rear tire traction saved my life! Never be with out one again.

What nozzledog said about the Battleax. I do not plan on running backwards as what I've read it doesn't seem to make any difference. Living in southern AZ, we don't get much rain so the tread pattern directing water shouldn't make much of a difference.

IMHO -
Shorter stopping distances
Smoother ride
Better rain management
Less down time
Fewer times disassembed = Less chance for mistakes
1/3 the price for 3 times the mileage

Ha Ha Ha Ha - damn, you 'geniuses' are funny !

Thanks for the laugh .... ROFLOL

You forgot to mention the better fuel mileage with CTs .... LOL - KILLS me ....

But I'll stick to real tires - especially in my mountainous riding.

Never saw a bike in 53 years in a showroom with CTs. Wonder why ????

Maybe guys with CTs don't know HOW to ride ????

So many questions - sigh ...

Like 'BRAKING' - how does a CT make for better braking when 70+ % of that is done with FRONT tire ????

... at least by people who know HOW to ride.

I think it's all about being CHEAP. Or maybe just providing amusement! Yeah - that's it !!!
