OK, so Im looking for the best bang for the buck. I want good sound but not so loud I wake the neigbors.
What are your opinions? I have heard the Thunder sticks, but cant find where to buy them. Then I heard the Adam bombs, also nice. Then I saw a fellow visioner make his own out of a stock set, removing the baffles. Im more confused now!!

I have been debating a change too. I just want a little more sound than my S1L2 Victory mufflers put out. Problem for me is I need to source the heat shields to make that happen. But I will watch this thread closely.

Money is a bit tight. Maybe after I sell the 1" lowering stuff I have.

Nascar6 is an option....simple recore of stock pipes. Sounds real nice

I like my Ness Honkers, only loud when you roll on the throttle.

As for the Thunder Sticks...pretty sure you can get them from Lloydz

S1's are pretty quiet for sure.
I have been thing of blocking off the cross over cause I feel we have a 2 into 1 right now. I barley hear any thing out the left side and that side never pops.
You can listen all you want to the exhaust on youtube but you hear to much motor sound and not true exhaust sound.

I put my money on the D&D slip ons and haven't been disappointed. Love the sound, not obnoxiously loud, definitely louder than stock, but no metallic valve sounds from the exhaust like some have, just a deep mellow rumble.

Take a 1/2" hole saw and drill out the baffle. I did my stockers and sounds great and took about 5 minutes... Another thought...

I used this method here:

http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=12324&po...

LOVE it.....I had aftermarket pipes but didnt think they were loud enough.......these are plenty loud when your getting on it.....but mellow out when your cruising....can still here the radio just fine but its got good bark.

Phantom, what do you mean drilling out the baffle?

That little hole down the middle of the exhaust, if you take about a 24" extension and I think a 1" or 1.5" steel hole saw and run it down that tube you will come in contact with the baffle wall. When you do, drill and it will knock a hole in it opening up the flow. Right now the air comes down the exhuast and then hits that wall and flows over the outside of that tube (where you just inserted said hole saw), that tube has little tiny holes in it to release the air (and it's usually packed with something like fiberglass) to dampen the sound. When you drill out the baffle more air goes down the exhaust pipe and less air into the fiberglass and out the little holes.

if that makes any sense. Either way you get more noise that way and it sounds pretty good...

I did the thrush mufflers like listed earlier and really like mine. If you do them and twin sucker kit you will need the stage one ecm flash to get you gas mileage back up. The power increase is great over stock.

+1 on Atom Bombs. Nice growl when you throttle. Reasonable rumble at highway speeds!

I just did the Witchdoctor Muscle mufflers. Loud when you get on it, mellow enough at cruising to just barely hear the valves and transmission. Cost $200 plus shipping, plus refundable core charge. Easy enough to do at home if you have the time. (I didn't, so I took it to the dealer.) No other stuff needed when you do the install. Other than noise I can't tell the difference from stock.

If anyone near Moravia, IA.....or is willing to ride.....its really easy to "unbaffle" your stock exhaust. Ride it over.....we can do it in the garage.....a little cutting.....a little welding....not a biggie.

I bought my Vision used . Atom bomb exhaust equipped. To be honest, I think I might like it to be a little louder.
