Dallas, Texas | With temperatures reaching triple digits in summertime, I was looking into another oil, and found this:
Elf MOTO Sport 4 10W-60 Campione
Has anyone heard of it? And would we benefit from a higher viscosity in really hot weather? And it is JASO MA rated.

| I would be careful..Lots of snake oils out there that are not, in reality, any better than stock Vic oil...But to each his own....... |

Pittsburgh, PA | there is absolutely NO reason to use a w60 oil... NONE.... just about any oil is designed to withstand 100F weather. is anything a w60 oil will delay cold start oil flow to critical moving parts. and may very well created issues with the hydralic adjusting valves. (too thick). the thickness of a oil is not the asnwer to your heat worries... a synthetic oil is designed for this "among other" very reason... that 10w60 is (2) visocity indexs Higher than the oem requires.. i can see going to a 20w50, but i would NOT go with a 10w60... there is Nothing to gain and Only to loose from doing this...
this is the oil i use ALL YEAR around.. give it a read to understand what i was talking about..

If there was a demand or benefit to higher oil don't you think victory would sell it.
Yes in the old days we did but then the motors were not as good an the oil's were very pour quality. |

Central Maryland | Coincidentally; I just changed my oil tonight. Simple as pie on the Vision. Used the Vic oil change kit. Now have 1.5 qts leftover, what weird amount of packaging.... |

yeah it is weird. cause if you buy another kit now you have 3 qts left over! i dont think ANY of the victory motorcycles takes that much oil ..... the kit is a little too universal.. (atvs and what not). |

New Bohemia, VA | no way, no how would I run a 60 in this engine. I did the Amsoil 20w50 motorcycle oil during the trip to the desert and felt I made the right choice. When I returned home, 40 went back into the crankcase. |

actually 0w50 makes Perfect sense..... you get the protection of a w50 but the COLD START of a 0w, and im pretty sure atvs are used in all weather. at least they were when i was knee high to a grasshopper. =) |

Wait now, not that I am going to use it, because basically, I was really just curious, about this oil, and the 10W60 weight. But then again, why is 20W/50, 0W/50, or 10W/40 seem to be reasonable but 10W/60, is not. It would have the cold start of 10W...but a bit more resilient with 60 at higher temps..I'm just sayin'.... oh, and this oil is a full syn from Europe. Recommended in Ducatis.
Like I said, I won't use it probably, but I don't think that it would do any damage, or make our engines explode. |

Well, you can find a case of liters (6) for about $51.99. Still a bit high. |

I think it would make the lifters pump out likean old Mitsubishi but I might be wrong |

New Bohemia, VA | stopped and got gas yesterday then spent about 30 minutes talking Vics and Harley's with a guy that had a Hammer. He's riding a Harley that his dad gave him after his Hammer was stolen, but was asking me how I liked the Vision. Talking about mileage led to an oil conversation and you know what he revealed to me? Now mind you, he was only using HD oil in his bike because it is an HD recommended oil. But he told me that he read an independant test results that revealed that....hold on...that the best oil that comes out on top is....AMSOIL!!!!! He was wondering why I wasn't using it and I think I disappointed him when I told him I didn't see the difference in my motor whether I used Amsoil or Rotella. But I did tell him I'm also going to stick (no pun intended) with the Victory oil from here on out with 3,000 mile oil changes.
