New Castle Delaware | I am not positive about this but I believe he now has an adjustable intake listed on the website for $100.00 and that is replacing the previous one. Maybe someone else can verify that for you. |

Rhode Island | I herd the new one he is waiting on inventory to release is quieter without giving up function. The Ness one listed above is even louder than Lloyds was.

Pittsburgh, PA | the ness one is louder than the Lloyds one? i had the lloyds 1st one and i thought it was loud and to be honest i thought it was cheaply made. a foam sponge between two prices of metal. i still have it, and it i hold it up to the sun light i can see right through it. |

| If you could not see threw it you would not get air threw it. When you check your air filter on your car or if you do you put a light up to the paper to see how much like you can see. Poor light old filter.
Lloydz came across problems with the foam filters and was changing them. |

Pittsburgh, PA | i cant see light through my new air filter on my 2011 vision. but it is oem and not a high flow air filter. when i mean i could see light through the Lloyds foam top air filter i mean , i could see You through it ! LOL.. if you were standing in front of it and i looked through the foam you can see right through it.. I noticed on my 2008 vision when i removed the air filter to sell the bike the intake area where the air enters the engine inside the frame were all dirty! This is part of the reason why in the 3-4 months of owning my 2011 Vision i did Not reinstall the lloyds air filter. cause i personally dont think it did much for "filtering" the air... i do want another top air filter. but if non come out soon i will just get the Arlen Ness top air filter. it at least is a air filter at least according to how it looks compared to the replacement high flow front air filter. |

2 mi from Jim Beam n KY | Air doesn't flow through top plate. Its more about smoothing out turbulence inside the air box. You don't need heavy filtration in the top plate like you do in front of the air box.
Some folks don't have a noise issue with the Lloyds top plate. Some do, and I'm one of those. I hate the thought of giving up the performance, but I'm about to put the stock plate back on. And I have L1S2 exhaust! |

Id be curious if you ever do look inside there to let us know if yours is/was dirty as well.. mine was pretty bad. i find it interesting that filter is no longer made as well. i want to install a top filter on my 2011 vision since one of the PCV maps are made for my set up (s1l1 mufflers with a high flow front and top air filter) right now im just running my PCV with the s1l1 and Stock air filter. at least the ness top filter is actually a filter made of the same material the front high performance filter is made from that victory supplies in their performance kit. |

Based on Lloyds reputation, for the purpose of high performance, if that plate needed a high flow (volume) oiled gauze filter for engine protection, I believe he'd have put one there in the first place.
Due to the location, the filter is subject to accumulating a ton of road dirt and grime, which means I have to remove the panel to vacuum and clean it more often than I'd like.
Now I have talked myself into accelerating my plan to go back stock. Now I can't sleep in on Thursday.
Sorry, my .02 grew into .06. Ya'll carry on carrying on!!

it was my understanding he actually had the intent of the top filter being the oil guaze type but his shipment came in damaged according to old posts i read from 2008. so he then went to the foam filter so he could release the top filter. like i said im solely basing this on what i read on forums. all we know now is its NO longer being made. So does that have something to say? i mean, was it the best it could have been, since something improved is already coming out 3 years later.? |

But someone on here said the Ness top filter is Louder than the Lloyds one? i did notice the ness top filter looks to possibly have a larger opening compared to the 2 circles on the lloyds filter that i have. |

I just recently installed the Ness intake plate along with big honkers, and a PC V w/AT. I don't have anything to compare the noise to since I've never had the Lloyd's plate, but I don't really notice any increased noise from the intake plate. However, if the intake plate isn't sucking air into the plenum, I'm not sure I understand the purpose of it. |

I've thought about this too, and I have the VM-1 cams. Let me know if you notice any performance degradation...... ???

| I do think the top filter adds to your performance. I went for a ride of about 250 miles with no top plate and filter the bike was quicker and maybe faster. I bought the ness top filter and front filter off ebay for less then a 100 bucks. Never used the front filter will sell it more then likely. The top filter really didn't add noise to my ride to speak of. Yes you can hear it at stop lights but going down the road with the radio on I can't say I heard it and I don't wear a helmet. I felt I lost power with the ness top filter so I cut the filter out and put in foam that is used for a lawnmower. Still not that noticeable air hissing. I do feel like I gained some power.

Wow, you have MUCH less clutter under there than I have! I have both the Ness top and front filter.... I'm thinking the ram effect with just the Ness front filter should be more than adequate to feed enough air to the cams, but I have yet to hear of anyone doing this yet (keeping the stock top plate with a Ness front filter and cams )

Sir did you do any a/f adjustment or any ecu/ecm control on your bike after installing top air plate? I'd like to do that but don't want all the problems of remapping and all.

Pittsburgh, PA | if lloyd said the top filter adds up to 7hp/8ftlbs by adding a extra spot for air to enter you would think you would HAVE TOO increase fuel.. i noticed on the powercommander website they have a few maps for a performance mufflers with the victory performance air filter. then they have maps for the Ness top filter as well... My point is, if you didnt need to increase fuel with the top filter why would someone like power commander go through the expense and time or creating a map for it? |
