A lot of folks over there including me have bought Vics and are quite happy with them but others the main reason for not buying is lack of dealerships and high cost of accessories. I know the economy sucks but there are folks out there willing to buy but the network is holding them back. I ride a fair amount but rarely see another Vic on the road and it's a shame because these other bike forums talk quite a bit about the Vic line especially the Cross bikes and Vision. One member has actually bought 3 Vics (one for the wife) and the third for the off days. I just hate to see Victory losing sales by not having the network. OK rant over I feel better now.

From what I have seen accessory prices are comparable to Harley.

This says the rest (courtesy of SongFan)...

We have enough dealers in the part of the country I live in and while the accessories are high, they're no worse than Honda or Harley. My only real problem is the factorys indifference. If I could change anything, that would be it.

Biscuit, not sure if it is lack of network or not wanting to be a part of "that" crowd. My buddy LOVES Victory, but told me he would never leave HD.

I love the above poster.
Many of my riding friends worry about me when riding alone cross country due to the lack of dealerships.
Nothing that a credit card and a UHaul truck couldn't remedy.
24,000 miles this year traveling through the 48 contiguous States and 3 providences of Canada.
No problems other than an ABS idiot light issue which didn't even slow me down.

This topic never dies even after 11 years. What is your background to be so knowledgeable in what Victory is doing? It can't be that they moved into the number 2 sales slot in North America. It can't be you believe everything others tell you because they would never bullshit you. It must because you don't see other Victorys on the road because you are home typing this crap on the computer. O.o

O.oSorry I've ruined your day Red but I was just stating facts that there are not that many dealers. My closest is 100 miles and the dealer I bought mine from is 360 miles away. Dealers close by don't worry me and you should know why. This bothers some people because they don't know a Phillips from flat screwdriver much less even how to change their oil. Being retired I can ride anytime and in 19 months put almost 23k on the bike. Hope your day gets better.

You go to the FACTORY for service????

I never thought of that - I guess that's why I didn't know about this "take it or leave it" attitude. I just go to my DEALER - and get wonderful service.

Don, I had an issue with a dealer and I called Victory for help. They basically told me that warranty interpretation was the dealers call.

it's an old discussion and it brings to folks excuses for getting brand x verses brand y. When I've been challenged with the lack of dealer support, I laugh and say "So." Yes, if I need dealer support, I had to trailer there, or ride the 100+ miles to get the support. But that doesn't keep me from riding the daylights out of my bike. I really wonder how much a person likes that really rides, or really cares about riding. I know a few folks that are "bikers" and yet hasn't even rode this year except one or two weekends. I just pity the poor fools...

P.S. in support of Biscuit, I'm on the road riding daily and rarely see a Vic, though we have plenty in the area. Most of the time is that folks ain't riding at O'dark:30 in the morning as I go to work or in the evening coming home. There is at least one faithful HD rider that if I leave at the right time I'll pass him going the other way, all winter. Here in CVA, there's a lot of bikes, but not a lot of daily riders, on the weekend, if the the tempature is "JUST RIGHT" they are as thick as flies...

Hmmm. I guess I'm just lucky. My Victory dealer is eight miles away, but that's just luck. That luck is the reason I bought a Victory. I think you are right that Victory would sell more bikes if they had more dealers, because I would still be on a Yamaha if I had to go 100 miles just to see and buy a Vic.

Once the purchase was done, I had the dealer do the first service. It was convenient to have them nearby. I expect to have them change my tires and the belt when those times come. That's all planned maintenance. I'll do oil changes and other planned maintenance myself. If it turns out that I need to have a dealer nearby just to keep the bike running, I will dump the Vic and get something more reliable -- not something with an extensive shop network to keep fixing it. My bike belongs under my butt, or waiting for me in my shed or the parking lot where I am, not in the shop!

About the service, I had good experience there, too. Also, I have been impressed that Victory has listened to its customers and potential customers. They came out with a full tourer -- some liked it and some could not go for either the looks or the small capacity side bags. A couple of years later, Vic put out the Cross Country and Cross Roads, touting looks that are more mainstream yet progressive, and lots of storage. I thought, "if only it had a trunk.". The next year, there was a trunk. The press said that there was a buffeting problem. At the same time, I was looking at the CC and thinking that I would need to buy the optional trunk, heated grips and a taller windshield for my year-around everyday riding. Now the Cross Country Tour addresses that with wind management and a bigger windshield with more room for air flow under it to relieve the vacuum behind it, the stock windshield is taller, it comes with heated grips and the trunk. They threw in ABS brakes, heated seats and HID headlight, too. I think they're hearing us and doing what we ask for.

varyder I agree with the fact they make wonderful bikes. I wouldn't trade my Vision for another brand. I ran a Toyota and a Ford dealer for years so I'm probably spoiled by the amount of service they provide their customers.

Not sure why, but I don't see any Victory's around me either, and I have 5 dealerships all within an hour of my house. Went on the big 9-11 ride last month with about 3,000 bikes, and could count the Vic's on one hand. An hour and a half from my house is another dealer that sells HD and Vic. Sells 25 HD's to every Vic.
Why is that?
It doesn't seem to be for a lack of dealers.

It's the Harley mystique I guess. Like one Harley rider told me, "I would rather ride a broke down Harley than another bike". Go figure.

I never mentioned which forum but everyone is assuming it's HD and it's not. Never owned one and have no desire to. This thing has turned into a pissing contest and it was not my intent to make it that way. I live just outside a major capitol city and the dealer we had gave it up a year ago and while it's no biggie for me it certainly is for others including a friend who would like to own a Victory CCT but doesn't like the fact a dealer is not close by. I'm done with this thread.

I picked up on it, that's why I used brand x and brand y, why? because each brand owner has as much enthusiasm for their brand. Victory seems to be the one brand of them all that misses out on a strong dealer network. BMW is few and far between and they have their die-hards as well. I've attempted to put a finger on those who ride, and that really becomes the single common thread is the fact that we ride. Eash of us have our little world, from how we present ourselves, how we ride, what we ride, how often we ride, where we ride and to whom we ride with. Victory's network is a hinderance to some, but not to all who desire to ride. I'll leave the marketing up to mother Polaris and Victory, and I'll do my advertisement by my riding and talking highly of the brand.

One guy at work says he loves to ride and wants to ride again so he's looking at a Vision. He says I've made a statement by riding as often as I do regardless of weather and that's how he wants to ride also. He looking to get a Vision in the next couple of weeks. The funny thing is, is that I rolled mine out the door on a cold November day four years ago and I've not been off of it since. And, I was just starting to ride again also.

Stand by the brand, let folks make up their own mind.

On the way to trade my Harley one of my Harley friends ask were was I going to get my Victory serviced? My closest friend that really does not like Harleys said "in my shop at the house where we have serviced every bike he's owned. At the time the nearest dealer was 150 miles away. Now there is a dealer in Tifton. My buddy and I do everything to the bike except warranty covered items and computer upgrades. Parts and accessories seem close in price to the other brands. I like having a unique bike that is an attention getter. One of the local Harley sales guy said to me at the gym "If you pull up at a gas station on a Harley and a bunch of Harley guys are there they will come over to talk. Pull up on a Yammaha and the won't" I said "Pull up on a Vision and all their women will come over to check out your ride"

Just how much dealer support does one need??
Dealer is 80Km away
June 08' purchase new vv tour premium
2 days latter in for 800KM service
left next day for 2500Km vacation
spring 09 dealer for new rear tier
june 10 Utah dealer for new front and rear tires
Oil changes donemy self, Call dealer and order oil change kit and have it shipped to thier other dealership which until this spring was not a Authorized Victory Dealer, but 1/4 mile out of my route home from work.
I now have nearly 45000 km on bike, so as far as having a dealer close...... not an issue with me. I do not need to rum to them every day. I purchased a bike to ride, not to be sitting at the dealership!!
I used to own Chev's, now that brand required a dealer close by!!!!!! Since I learned not to own a Chey, even my cages don't need a dealer close by!!!!

Just sayin!!!!
