Was out riding this morning and ran into a fella on a nice looking RoadGlide. Took off down the road and nailed it it in second gear, he walked me. I ran up to about 130 in 5th gear and he was about 10 bike lengths out front of me. I waved him over and he told me about his engine, a CycleRama prepped 103 with 129 HP. Now mind you I have a Lloyds 106 that makes 115 HP. Now how much is that 116 kit ???

Your bike with a 116 will be about 15,000.00 less than his and will leave him in the dust

Jeff to be fair it was a 2009 RoadGlide, cost about $20,000.00 Now add the $7000 in motorwork, Hmm $27,000.00. I got my 2008 Vision for $18,500 out the door and and spent about $2600 on the Lloyds cam and top airfilter mod, CFR slip ons and a PC V plus Lloyd himself tuned it at Daytona. So I came out with $21,100. Yeah so I got a liitle bit of extra $$$ in my Vision too. But the Vision sure looked better.......

I would just leave the cammed 106 and do a N2O kit for the "special occasions." Just keep your finger off it until you absolutely need it.

Good Idea, plenty of places to hide a bottle on the Vision.

XRSteve that 129 out of a 103 HD is impressive and NO2 would fill the bill for added kick, but I would go another rout. With what you already have I would add a set of 11:1's with a pair of those MSD coils and would have 127/125 all the time and when I need to refill the gas I'd just pull in and fillup with 97 octane, nuff said.

Unfortunately there is no 97 octane around here. 93 at best, Yeah there is some 112 octane down the road near the old flat track race track but it's full leaded and will kill the wideband O2 sensors I have for the PC V. I wonder how much compression these heads can stand on 93 octane with no detonation ?? Dosen't lloyd say he can get near 140 HP out of his 116 with just lightly cleaned up ports?? How about with big valve heads ??

Sorry big fella I meant 93 and the 106 can handle 11:1 easily on pump gas without pinging especially with the MSD coils. PS I can't get 97 around here either.

Thats great to know. too bad we can't get 97 octane no lead, it might could tolerate 12.5 to 1 and all big twins love compression for power. Sometimes their starters don't though, hahaha............Thanks for the correction.

Anybody actually use the spray? Do you have to make it wet? Or does it do okay dry? $350.00 is about lunch and a tank of gas nowadays, so it's a pretty cheap way to whupass in 10-15 seconds at a time or so, seems to me...

Yeah well think about this. An HD 103 that has been over modded to get 129hp. I wouldn't ride that bike too far from home. HD has enough problems with their stock 110 much less with a motor getting 1.25hp per cubic inch. I am aware that there are some great performance shops out there but that is pushing the tolerance and reliability limit imo.

Ride safe,

V

I bet he has to keep octane boost in his saddle bag and doesnt like 100 degree days. I also bet its a blast to ride when all is well.

You're right about Harleys and engine mods. Friend of mine modded his up to about 125-130 hp and couldn't keep head gaskets on it.

Yeah, maybe true statemeents and maybe not, ya just never know what the other fella has in his pocket. I was talking to some guys I know down at a local bike shop, most HD guys some sportbike riders, I'm only one of two fellas that frequent the place that ride a Victory and the conversation boiled down to something I already know: You can get into an arms race on these things and seek out the best builders in the country, you may end up with a 9 megaton bomb but you can't use it. You can go overboard with all kinds of weapons, motorcycles included..............I may be wrong but I believe a 135 HP Vision would give you all the performance you'd need AND you could still ride it and just fill up with 93 Octane and enjoy.

VisionTex had a discussion with a Victory engineer who said that the bottom end of the stock 106 (pistons/rods/crank/crankcase) is engineered to handle up to 150 horse power.  You would have to mod the heads, intake and clutch to match.  V-Tex asked the question because he had wanted to have the first nitrous Vision from Lloydz.

Normally aspirated BUILT HD 103's do NOT make 129hp! It was either a 120" or larger, or forced induction.....

I totally agree. I am sure the cammed 106 is more than enough power 99% of the time. I little shot of nitrous is always fun for "special occasions". Just remember that there is always somebody out there that is faster.

This thread reminds me of when I owned my 96 Trans Am. I didn't lose races often. But when I did I immediately buried myself in the Summit Racing catalog and emptied my bank account. Performance upgrades are an addiciton. I personally wouldn't go for the 116 unless I was drag racing regularly. It sure would be fun on the street though. I would get into trouble haha.
