You may need more time on the charger or try another/new battery

Don't forget to check all the connections.

Check the ground (black) connection on your battery. Mine was loose as a goose, when I brought her home....

Fast clicking is 2 things usually the battery is still not juiced enough, or the connections are not tight.

Make sure your battery is charged well, if you try starting your bike and the battery only has enough power to just barley turn the engine over it can be very hard on your starter. I've heard of guys burning their starter out due to low voltage.

Patience is a virtue. No patience, boost it.

It is a distinct possibility that your battery terminals are corroded. You'll have to pull them if you need to replace the battery anyway. Scrub any corrosion off the post and connectors with a dry wire brush if they're corroded. Dab a little Petroleum Jelly on em after you brush them off to prevent future corrosion. I would start there and look further. The fact that your hearing clicking is a good thing. It means that you solenoid is kicking which means that your ignition seems to be working. If everything looks clean; then yes, you'll likely need a battery. Snag that sucker and take it a parts store for load testing. A bad battery will either never charge (shorted cells) or has basically worn out (low capacity) which will charge but will die very quickly on a load tester. (Just put that out encase they try to screw you over at the auto parts store). If she's not charging after you've made the checks, then don't keep trying. It really can result in damage. As a "bar-hopper" would check all this first. As a part time "Tourer" I would definately change it out before the next riding season starts.

I went through two batteries on an ATV before I realized that my charger was bad. Duh.

Once you have that figured out, another good idea is to use the switch off the trunk light so that it doesn't come on when you open the trunk. If you need the light you can turn it on manually when you need it, but the default should remain off.
