So a very qualified buddy of mine went to the new authorized Victory Dealership opening up here in Richmond, Va. He asked the service guys when had they taken their certification courses to work on Victory bikes.... here was their answer.

Commonwealth Motorsports in Prince George Va.

"What certification courses. We aren't taking any we already know how to fix bikes"...............

Add to this that they are an existing multi line dealership with a poor customer service reputation already, and suffice it to say NOT THRILLED.

One of the reasons i chose my Victory was because it was NOT in the line up of all the other bikes. I paid
a higher price for quality and in turn I expected a higher grade of service which I had until my dealer shut his
doors leaving many of us without any place to get bikes repaired and serviced. I/we have been waiting to see a new dealership. The news and excitement quickly faded after hearing their comments..........

Wondered where you had gotten off to Mac, glad to see that you're posting again.

I was beginning to think that the furniture business was just another innocuous looking CIA front, and that you had gone off to depose some tin pot dictator or oversee a drone deployment project in one of the lesser "stans"; thus leaving the rest of us to wonder what was happening to all the cool stuff from Vic Marketing that the UPS man was leaving on your front steps.

Sooooo, let's start saying how crappy the new dealer is before they even get started. I must say thanks for posting the comments to get a jump start of a bad relationship between the owners and the dealer.

exactly. I've talked with the GM and they seem to be on track to promote the brand. Commonwealth has been an area mainstay, albeit, under the name of Burcham's up until about 5 years ago. I don't like it anymore than anyone else that they are a multibrand dealer. But they wanted to pickup the Polaris brand and Polaris told them they had to take Victory also. I'm working with them so that we might get another VMC chapter started here, but we have too many hard heads in this area that no one whats to get on the same page.

They can do training courses and get certified all on the computer with ever going any place but work.

Think about this if you were a tech you would go to school in the winter or off season. So would you or a dealer of seven tech have the money to go away for two or even one week to learn more. Hotels and eating out is not cheap.

So when I worked at Harley dealer we would do courses on the computer and if me passed then we would become certified get a badge and a increases in pay.
None of it mattered when Lay off time came

There is one Vic dealer a few miles from my house. The next closest dealers are about an hour+ away. The local dealership is Victory/Polaris/Yamaha and they do much more Polaris/Yamaha. They keep 2 or 3 Victorys in the back room. I've asked about the 30k mile service as that seems to be the costly one. Their answer is that only includes an oil change. Once I get my Vision, I'll ride an hour to a "real" dealership unless it's an emergency and then I'll probably try to use my towing service.

A "real" dealership is a rare thing among Victory at this present time, so you'll find a lot of composite dealers. That's not a bad thing as some make it out to be. Some of your "real" dealers have good mechanics from various brands so folks bring their Harley, Kawasuki, etc to your "real" Victory dealership. The sad part about this original post is that it all started with heresay. Commonwealth Powersports as I mentioned earlier, is a mainstay in the area and won't close their door any time soon like the "real" Victory dealer did.
