I'd try to talk them into throwing in a warranty for you. It being a demo bike there's no telling how many people took it for a test drive and how hard/bad they road it. Do you know how many miles are on it? If I were you and set on the hammer I'd look to see if I could find any other hammers out there for the same price, that way you can compare miles, upgrades, paint, etc. You might find one with the extended transferable warranty still left on it.

Puddle Jumper, three questions for you: 1. Where in IN do you live (don't need specifics just city or nearby major city) and, more importantly, 2. Have you met or linked up with a GOOD, SOLID mentor in your area? Finally, #3. How tall are you and how much do you weigh? I ask #1 because I'd recommend you also Google the dealership for reviews before buying from them. Not knocking Victory in any way (I own a '12 Vic CCT), but dealers are out for two things...assisting you and making money...and not always in that order. Additionally, I have family in Southern Indiana. I ask #2 because that is probably one of the MOST IMPORTANT things you should do after completing the MSF Basic Riders Course (or the ABATE Course) and BEFORE buying your bike. I ask #3 because these things (along with the price tag) MUST be factored into your bike choice. Does the bike you're currently looking at have FORWARD MOUNTED controls? If you're tall (Six feet tall or more) you'll find any bike with controls in the "standard" mounted position will be uncomfortable. But guess what...a mentor that KNOWS YOU can help you with this advice and can provide you with honest, upfront assessments for you.

Is the dealer "Complete Outdoor Equipment Co."? There are 2-3 reviews about them through an immediate search on Google.com. The reviews are all about tractor equipment though and none on motorcycles. No matter, ensure WHEREVER you buy the bike from, they've got a CERTIFIED MOTORCYCLE service department and CERTIFIED Victory mechanics. ALSO, here is some information from the Indiana BMV for motorcycle endorsements on a drivers license: http://www.in.gov/bmv/3015.htm Taking the Basic Riders Course will WAIVE the requirement to take the state skills test...you'll probably just have to take the written test.

As far as finding a mentor goes, get online to Facebook and look up some Indiana motorcycle organizations. You'd be surprised at what comes up when you type in "Indiana motorcycles" or "Indiana Victory owners" or something like that. "Victory Motorcycle Club Indy Chapter" may find you some results as well. The Victory Motorcycles website says there are 3-4 other dealers within an hour of Terre Haute including "Indy Powersports Inc.". Most (or at least SOME) of these Victory dealerships are hosts for their local Victory Motorcycle Club (Victory's version of a H.O.G.-Harley Owners' Group). Being a member of the Potomac Victory Riders here in the D.C. area, I can say they're always friendly and willing to offer advice and tips in your Victory motorcycle purchase and skills developement...

When you get a moment, go on FB and search for "Victory Motorcycle Owners Group". Besides the Victory Motorcycles FB page, this is probably the next best thing to use (besides www.thevmc.com) to find other Victory owners. As stated earlier, check with your local Victory dealer (Complete Outdoor Equipment Co.?) and see if they host a Victory owners club. If they don't, it's VERY likely that one of the other ones do...even if they are 60 miles away (smile). The group I belong to meets at one of two locations from 20-50 miles away from my home...

A friend of mine bought a used Cross Country from them. He was very happy with how he was treated. I've been in the shop about a half dozen times, talking with the manager. I think they had a few growing pains when they took over the Victory line from Don, but everythings seems to have been straightened out. They have a fair selection of bikes and accessories. If I lived closer to Terre Haute, I'd have no problems buying a Victory from them.
