Oh, here we go again with tires and how many miles. Do you get better handling and mileage out of your tires if you stick with Victory Oil?

Let me wipe that little bit of sarcasm off your lip. Might as well be tires since the forum is a bit slow these days.

Seems we've moved to rear shock pressure! Things really are slow.Stll, I wonder if you need as much pressure in your rear shock if you run Amsoil 10w40? Just Wonderin'

The man asked a simply question If your only contribution is sarcasm why bother??

exactly! I love that anyone post here as it is pretty dead most of the time. It's like some want the forum to be silent and dead. I love to hash and rehash all things bike. I know tires have been talked about several times before but I forget and I hate the search function so I'm glad topics resurface from time to time. If I have to be at work , this forum is a good filler (when it's active) when there is a lull in my workplace tasks.

I've heard all the supposed pluses, but have yet to see any hard evidence. I'm not convinced that 100% nitrogen is an advantage. Yea, I know, it's a bigger molecule etc. etc. But as Blackjack correctly points out.....it's questionable that you can attain 100% in your tire. Furthermore, "air" in our atmosphere is 78% Nitrogen, 21 % oxygen and 1% other gases. Just sayin'

I'm really not convinced that another 20% nitrogen makes any difference at all. Just remember when you buy nitrogen, the first 78% you got was free! LOL

Oh, and Blackjack, nice comeback. Not great, but nice. LOL

Assuming 78% Nitrogen(N2) / 21% oxygen(O2) and that it's the O2 that seeps out, then when your tire pressure drops from 40psi to 32 psi, all the O2 is gone leaving only the N2. Now when you top off the tire with air, your are now at 94% N2 / 5% O2. By the 3rd top off with air, you are at 99% N2.

I've read much of the same research and I'm not convinced either, was just curious if anyone actually did it and if they noticed anything different.

I'm very much enjoying the Bridgestones and feel they are a great and less expensive alternative to the E3's which are a bit pricey.

Oh and I did order mine from DLP for $285, but because I'm in FL I had to pay the sales tax :-( but I did get them in one day with free shipping so that's something positive I guess...

I do believe that the only advantage of nitrogen to tires is that nitrogen will not permeate through the rubber as easily as oxygen, due to the larger size of the nitrogen molecules.

There are other advantages. It won't expand as much when it gets warm and it doesn't tend to eat either rubber or steel (like in the tires belts). None of the advantages are worth anything on a street driven vehicle. If someone wants to fill up my tires with nitrogen for free, I'm all for it. I wouldn't pay even a buck for it, though.

The first set of E3 went 13k most of the riding was in North Dakota. Iput the 4th set of tires on at 28500. 2 sets of tires in 15000 always check the air but the AZ heat just eats them up. Last rear tire went dark side have over 3000 on it and other than stopping faster at slow speed can't tell the diffference. I liked the E3 and if this tire gets eaten by the heat I may go back to them. For now I am happy with the Potenza.

It was great reading this thread. I didn't keep my 08 Vision long enough to worry about tires. My stratoliner ate tires, four sets in 22,000 miles so I went darkside on the rear. If I can get 10000 miles on a rear tire on the Vision I'll be happy....
