Definitely normal transmission noise in fourth gear I would have to say. I live in a semi-rural area and this year there is a ton of road construction so it seems like I am always riding around 35 to 45 mph and in fourth gear, I have to say that the noise that has been normal in fourth gear has subdued with extensive use and as such it is simply a break in issue.

Just noticed the tranny whine for the first time today on my way to work. Radio off for the first time since ownership as it is now broke (different thread). Reminds me of the old Muncie rockcrusher, an aptly named gearbox from my 60's muscle car days. We thought it was cool then to downshift and make all the dogs in the neighborhood howl. BTW the muncie was regarded as the most robust manual transmission on the planet.

If you don't like noise maybe - just maybe you should be riding in a car.

Noise - Wind, Radio, Pipes, the pulsing of a v-twin and trany...

I guess you could get a Goldwing with one of those really big ass windshield so you don't get wet either....

Just sayin...

i like noise just fine web hair.... i dont like rattling, chunky, metal clanking shit though. and i did a mod to my pipes this past week and wow. tunes out the 4th gear blues.

stay tuned i will write a thread on how i modified my exhaust, a litttle louder, and deeper, and not too loud unless i want it too be....

i have about 8000 on now and the noise is receding. i also did an exhaust mod that i am very happy with. that helps too.
