Thanks very much River/Arkanzeye..... I've done around 7,000kms and it's not got any quieter (unlike Arkanzeye), so I'll take your experience with the compensator to my dealer....He's a pretty good unit, so if that's an option for the Aussie models, I'm sure he'll take it from there....

Dropped in to the dealer today, he called the National Service manager, and he had indeed heard about it. He has just received a shipment of compensator springs from the US to install in any 2011s awaiting sale and is sending a couple to Sydney. The clatter is not something Victory want potential customers to hear, for obvious reasons  Thanks again, River. Maybe we're not as paranoid as some Rocket riders think we are .....
ps I also came to the Vision from a Rocket, and if yours is/was significantly louder, I'd check for a problem with the Rocket
