All,

I could use some shopping advice! Very good friend of mine and I always exchange Christmas gifts and they're usually bike related gifts.

He just got a 2009 Vision this past summer. It's pretty much stock with no add-ons or other extra farkles.

So, the question is:

What's a good Christmas present for him to put on or use on his Vision?

(Budget is sort of open at this point, so suggest away.)

Thanks for any ideas!

If it's stock, lower wind deflectors, if it fits the budget.

for much less, a shock pump

Try Witch Doctors, everything from Victory home wall clocks to LED running board turn signals. Get him a Vision - Riders hat and shirt from this site. I have both and they are excellent quality. Allow 3 to 4 weeks for shipping/delivery.

The shock pump is a good one and easy at $25

My favorite thing is Darryl Wrays cargo rack (BigD's Custom Racks on facebook)
or a dragon-bobs dashbag
or I 2nd the deflectors suggestion or
rider highway pegs or if he frequently has a passenger, the passenger armrest with built in cup holder.

https://www.facebook.com/BigDRacks/

http://www.dragonbobdesigns.com/

the highway pegs or distributed through Gonzo's Garage I think. the armrests or Victory accessory.

I'd suggest a bike cover. My son bought me one that should fit a Gold Wing but is "just" a bit tight on the Vision and all that dust bugs me.

I agree with what has already been said
1) lower wind deflectors
2) Luggage Rack from CycleOps http://cycleopsusa.com/store/index.html (I have a black winged v, looks great)
3) Highway pegs/nubs from Gonzo Garag https://www.facebook.com/theGONZOgarage/?fref=ts
4) air shock pump is a good idea mentioned too
5) Dragon Bob dash bag http://www.dragonbobdesigns.com/
6) Travel Cover
7) Storage Cover
8) Cup holder
9) Trunk Mirror

Get the 1/4 turn throttle ring for $20. Cheapest performance mod to get. Your friend will think you gave him 20 more horsepower.

All good suggestions. Lower deflectors are a no-brainer #1, particularly when living in a southern state.

Other ideas would be a hitch, wiring harness with issolator if he happens to have a trailer, think about a replacement windshield (choose stock, shorter, taller), and a beaded seat cushion.

Don't know if Tri-City, UT still makes them but I love my highway "pegs" from them. Love the "V" cut in them.
Gas card for a Speedpass.
Old type Ipod that works with your model.
On long trips I love my Victory passenger seat bag. I carry up to 12 days of clothes in it. original manufacturer sells them for less.
cellphone tire pressure units.
Power outlets for the trunk

I have the hitch and the rack from Big D, got them installed in Maggie this fall. Great stuff but if you spend that much on a friend for Christmas, we need to meet

if he is a traveler (odds are he is if he bought a Vision) and it's pretty much bone stock, first addition for me was the heel addition to the shifter , a Victory accessory. The next thing I would have to buy (it came on mine, I bought used) a luggage rack for the top of the trunk lid. Highway pegs, dashbag, evolution of fully accessorized Vision can go in any number of directions after this. Trailer hitch/cargo rack from big D's is great on trips. Armrest are significant if he has a significant that rides significant.

OK... I've narrowed it down to the Dragon Bob's dash bag. Nice product!

(He's a real pack-rat and takes lots of electronic devices and other junk with him all the time that he wants within reach while riding.)

Need advice on which one to buy: The MARINE GRADE VINYL one, or the LEATHER one?

Does the leather one look nicer than the vinyl one? There's not a good pic of the leather one on his site.

(Note that he does ride in bad weather a lot.)

So, which one to get?

I have the vinyl and love it. I can't speak for the leather version, I have no experience with it. But I've had mine for at least 3 years and 100,000 miles and ride 6 days a week, 12 months a year and it still looks and works great.

If he rides in bad weather, I would get the vinyl. That is what I have and it works great.

Thanks JimTom and BashCars!

The picture really helps and he does ride in bad weather all the time.

So... the vinyl one it is!

Gonna go order it right now.
