I purchased a new IPOD nano today. I plugged it into the optional IPOD hookup and presto, worked just the way the manual described. Very cool having your name come up on the digital dash. I agree with the other posts, the sound is superior to the XM and FM stations.

I thought it was great too. Worked fine the first time, now it doesn't. Unable to control playlists or tracks. Went to the dealer yesterday for the update and they haven't heard of it. $90.00 worth of wire and the only control I have is the volume.

I spoke to soon, the test was done in the garage on the Nano. Today I went on our biweekly 200 mile lunch ride and hardly any of the controls worked. When and if my chrome EVER comes in, I will check with my dealer and see if he has the update.

I guess I am lucky. I am using a 3rd gen 4gb nano and haven't had any problems yet.

I found a 2nd Gen 8gb Nano on eBay. It too get's "flakey" some times.

I found it works best if I plug it in before I turn the bike on. I had one session where none on the integration was working.
It played but not has designed. It displayed AUX on the console. I tried unplugging it but it still showed AUX when re-connected.
It was only after I turned the key off and then back on was able to re-establish the integration.
Has anyone seen an "official" users guide that speaks to this?
I've seen several posts regrading iPod issues (including the firmware update) but nothing about proper connection "order"...

Unless I'm mistaken, my dealer downloaded the iPod update from Victory..... tell your dealer to ask for Rob or John @ the Victory tech line. BTW the only thing necessary to connect your iPod to your audio system is the iPod harness at a cost of $39.99plus shipping, if you paid $90 bucks in order to connect your iPod, you paid about $$50 too much.

Why do they tell you that you need to buy the 50.00 wire harness? Thats how I get to the 90.00 figure

According to the PurePolaris web site the audio harness is for... "connection of electronic elements such as the CD Player, XM® Radio and CB & Communication System.

Contrary to what some may have been led to believe, the iPod only needs one little connector and this connector interfaces the iPod with the stereo system and also keeps the iPod's battery charged up.

The $90 cable is for XM CB & CD. The cable in the left compartment will work with any MP3 audio only rquires an outside power source(battery, power cord) this is the cable that can be replaced with the Victory ipod cord ($40) and will supply power also.

When I went to the dealer on Monday to get the download (the one they never heard of), I told him that is was kind of odd that after installing the harness that the ipod cable didn't even connect to it.(no reply by them) Hell I could have left the mp3 jack there and saved some money

Is it possable that you would need the $50.00 cord if you only had the standard vision, not the stepped up models?

Not likely since the stereo in the standard is the same as the stereo in the premium.

The $90 harness is the CAN buss for CB XM & CD. Its two cables that plug into the back of the dash panel. If you only run the radio & ipod, you dont need it, the ipod cable ($39.95) replaces the audio jack in the left glovebox. If you dont plan on getting XM CB or CD give them back the harness and get your money back, you dont need it.

To get the Nano 3 working correctly your dealer can download version 4.13 of the sound system firmware from Victory and upload it to your Vision and you will be set. This new version fixes all the problems they have run into with the Nano 3. If you have a earlier Nano youdon't need the upgrade.

Just got word on the software update from a VERY reliable source...

Firmware Version 4.13 does exist. However, the engineers at Victory are NOT releasing it to the dealers, yet. Why not? It's still has several bugs in it that they want to work out before officially releasing it. So how come so-and-so got it? Well, you've heard the phrase, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease", right? That's about it. There's a chance that if your dealer complains enough about it to Vic that Vic might send them the update as it is. However...

I'd rather have it right, than have it right now. Just so long as I know someone is working on something to fix the issues we're having with it. Personally, I think Vic is doing a good thing here. Truth is, they released a product that worked with what was available at the time. How were they to know Apple was going to intro yet another version of the iPod and that version wasn't going to work. I applaud them for taking the time and making the effort to correct an issue they didn't create.
