There are only two roads that cross the Arctic Circle in North America. The Dalton Highway in Alaska and the Dempster Highway in Canada.

I made it to the top of the Dalton Highway on my Vision in 2012 so it's time to try the Dempster in 2015. Can't wait to try this!

Some detail on the Dempster Highway -

Always looking for another challenge. Good for you. Could this explain the front knobby tire trials?

Thank you!

The other rides with the Shinko does give me confidence to try this trip. The Shinko has lasted a lot longer than I thought it would and I think it will last the length of this ride. This trip will be about 8500 miles.

Thank Johnny!!

This will be a solo ride. Going to try to do some long days on the way north and muddy roads could be challenging two-up.

Steve, another amazing adventure! You are definitely a traveler. Panama next?
Actually, if you want some real Adventure Riding, come to Boston at rush hour, LOL.

What do you figure it cost you for this trip?

Did you have a sense of where gas stops would be?

How many miles on the bike to date?

Thanks again for the post!

Thanks for the pics (not sure I would have been able to stop taking them) and narrative. Perhaps you should have included some specs on the bike such as weight, ground clearance, and class for the adventure riders to take note of. Quite the accomplishment! I did notice some pairing of speed vs. gear selection that appeared to not follow the user's manual recommendations. :-)

Cost? Not sure, but I do try too live cheaply on the trips. Cheap motels, meals and a lot of long days equals less motels.

Gas stops - Yes, I knew I would need extra gasoline.

The Vision has a little over 65,000 miles.

Yes - Its a very heavy dual sport!!!

Thank you! I was really happy with the pictures from this trip, they do tell the story.

Speed - I think some of the speedometer readings photos were km. I did switch between mph and kpm.

I cleaned the Vision and put everything back to stock. I was going to sell the Vision but have decided to keep it one more year.

I found another dirty ride for next year.

"Normal" and pretty again!!
