20 miles west of Chicago. | I don't believe there is one. Victory's "Performance Air Filter" looks like a K&N, and I have cleaned and re-oiled it using a K&N kit, but it is not a K&N. |

| bummer, thought for sure we have one. I have the vic one but it is about done after 44k miles. i clean it every 8-10k

Billings, MT | I also have the Victory Performance version. I actually have two, that way I can just swap if need too. I clean it and treat it just like the K&N. I ride all year, in any weather, i clean mine about every other oil change, just habit for me, but might be over kill, but while it is on the lift doesn't take long to do.

go to the Front of the visions headlight, get on your knee's and look Under the headlight it it tucked up BEHIND the headlight. it require a 10mm wrench to remove the (2) bolts that hold the filter in place. it takes about 3-5 minutes to remove and replace. Very easy... |

How often do these things need checking? I got a little over ten grand on mine, it doesn't go stump jumping much...shouldn't be too much cat hair in it. And the rain up here keeps the dust down pretty good.

ive cleaned mine i think 2 times in 15000-18000 miles. I did this because of getting caught in some nasty rain storms . the filter was pretty dirty. but since it was washable i just cleaned it and reoiled it. i will say my opinion of the victorys Reusable performance filter isnt that great... what i mean is, it breathes just fine... BUT the steel mess is already Rusting! so i will eventually get the Arlen Ness replacement performance air filter and have the victory one has a clean spare replacement when the ness one is being cleaned... |

The stock air filter is $19.95 and fows just about as much air.
So with the K&N you have to take it out and wash it and then dry it. Thats a hole day loss.
Stock one you pull out replace and go riding all that takes what a hour.
So where is the benefit?
With out tax you can use 3 1/2 stock filters to one K&N and only a hour down time. |

the MAIN benefit is REUSABLE... get a standard paper filter wet and you are screwed.. the paper one is NOT made to be washable. also the paper one is Never in stock at my dealers, and "according" to my 08 manual needs replaced every 10000 miles. that maintenance for replacement paper filter would add up quick! |

last july i rode from topeka kansas to pittsburgh pa and i got caught in the heaviest rain storm i ever rode in.. when i got home the next day i found my air filter was completely dirty. my guess is it got wet and when i rode it wet it pulled or just had dirt get stuck in it (dirty water, etc). when i washed it, very dirty water rinsed from it. i let it dry over night and reoiled it and it was ready to go. i think the main reason i didnt feel any performance difference when it was wet was because i am running the Lloyds TOP air filter which very gets wet.. the interesting thing was, i washed the filter before the trip to Kansas.. So in as short as 2000 miles it needed cleaned again. it was a unsual circumstance.. i had no business being in that rain, i almost wrecked. even my rain suit couldnt help me.. lol |

Bay of Gigs, WA | Y'know, I got three K&N's on three of my cages, and I have to say that the increase in performance touted by the ads is moot, in my opinion. The "Filter Charger kits are expensive in their own right, they're messy, a pain in the a$$ to work with, since you can't blow them dry without ruining them. I always feel concern that I've got enough oil in there, or if I've missed a spot, but if you put enough oil on them to assure they're saturated, they drip and make another mess, and well, paper is new every once in awhile and you pop'em in and go. If you've got nothing else to do during the day, by all means, go K&N, but if you're a busy kinda guy or gal, maybe not so much. I'll allow that when clean, they're neat looking, but they don't save me a lick of time and actually increase effort, so while I'm not throwing out the ones that came on my other used rigs, I'm not spending the dough to retrofit any of my others to them, either, including the VV (unless, whenever I get under there, I find I already have one). Now, my Vic came from Craigslist with the S1L2 exhaust and the reflash, so maybe it's got the K&N type filter already, I dunno yet. |

I remember trying to get a paper filter some time back aound 12,000 miles on the Vision. Purepolaris didn't even have one. I finally found a used one on Ebay from a dealership that put one of these "performance" ones in on a Vision with about 300 miles. I snagged it fast. I find it insane you can't get a dang OEM paper air filter with ease?  Performance my big old ..... I don't need no stinking performance.  Just give me what you sold me on originally.
