I need some help with my decision. I want stock appearence, low cost, no other parts needed at time of installation (I.E. Power Commander), easy install, minimal side effects, and no down time. I have looked at Nascar6, Atom Bombs, and Witchdoctor. I know I will need to pay a core charge. What is ya'lls opinion? Thanks in advance.

So what do you want?
There is going to be 50 guys for each pipe that like them or don't like them.
What do you want if you were the only vision rider out there.
Not trying to rain on your parade but there has been plenty of pipe talk. Do a search

Yup, do a search. Lots of sound bites on You tube, lots of info here. Almost any slip on's can be added without any other mod.

IMO the sound clips on youtube can't really do any real justice no matter what pipe you're checking out. I personally have done the thrush mod to my bike and couldn't be happier. With tips I think it ended up costing me a little under $70. Though you will have to make new mounts for the rear of the exhaust to keep the pipes from bouncing around. I spent alot of time on this site searching all the exhaust threads before deciding on what to get. The victory pipe kits should come with an air filter and a bar code to take to your dealer to reprogram your fuel map. Adding exhaust alone shouldn't need a fuel commander or a reprogram from what I've read but I went ahead and installed one when I did my pipes. If you're willing to spend the big $$$ on a vision I don't think an extra hundred or so should factor into adding mods onto your bike. Running lean and putting a hole in the piston cost way more then any fuel commander ever will.

I'll have to agree with goat, sound clips do not do justice. I have the s1l2 pipes on mine and they sound nothing like the youtube clips.

I did the thrush as well, nice sound - $90 with clamps and straps. No pops and seems to run cooler. If I do the air intake I'll do the VFC but right now i go up pretty good hills at 75 in 6th - I'm debating the need for anything else besides removing the trunk.

I have the thundercones. They sound great, increased power, and got them on line for about 460 shipped.

I did S1L1 and didn't get the sound I wanted. So as I was putting the end caps back on I Saw the one end is larger and the end we see all the time is smaller. So I did away with the black middles and the sound came alive. Deep but not annoying.
What ever exhaust you do ride it for a thousand miles before you spend money on a new download or power commander.
All a new flash does is move your read line and add fuel. I get 45mpg and a little popping now and then but I have money in my pocket and feel I have good horse power for a stock motor.

Guys, I agree, sound clips don't do justice. But do you have a better way for someone to evaluate the potential sound of different pipes? If so, please give us a clue!! It appears that wtwhitelaw is looking for a sound improvement although he does not actually say that.

It's not like one can go around and actually listen to all the possibilities. So again, my suggestion (all other things being equal) is to listen to the sound bites on you tube as that's as good as it gets. At least you have some sort of comparision and more info to make your decision. And a few vid's actually have sound from before and after.

Just sayin'

I have CFR's and love the sound, but I do not think you can get them anymore as he stopped making them. But hey, check as he may have a set or two lying around and willing to give away for a song and a dance.

As rare as visions seem to be and to have aftermarket pipes on would be even more rare I guess the only way you have to go IS youtube. For what it's worth I'd really suggest the thrush mod. If you absolutely hate it you'll be out $60 instead of $600

Of course I have searched as well as listened to all the the youtube videos for the Vision and Cross bikes. The Thrush mod sounds good and is an excellent value but does not meet my needs for stock appaerence. I don't don't want the law to have any reason to hassle me. The three companies I mentioned meet my needs. I have heard Atom bombs in person, but not the other two. Videos can be subjective as to sound, that's why I asked for opinions. Thanks to all that have re[lied so far.

My bike with the thrush mod, aside from the tips which you can add to a number of aftermarket exhaust I don't see how it alters the stock look of the bike in any way. If you're afraid of being hassled for the look of the exhaust then I'd be terrified of even riding the vision because it looks nothing like a traditional motorcycle.

Copy and paste that or just do a search on eBay for LED exhaust tip. I picked mine up for under $40 for the set.

Anyone who has or has heard the witchdoctor's baffled version of the vision mufflers: What do they sound like compared to the thrush mod or S1L2's.....thnx.

I heard some Atom Bombs in person and they sound fantastic! I have some holes drilled in the end caps of mine and that sounds pretty good. Gonna punch a hole in the center baffle and see how that does too. Other wise the atom bombs are probably gonna get done soon after my trip.

I love my D&D's! They are louder than stock, but not obnoxiously loud and eliminate all excess noise except a deep rumble and feature reduced back-pressure more than anything except straight open pipes. I've had a number of people tell me what a great sound it has and some say they would rather ride behind me than any other bikes with modified exhaust. Lloyd recommended them to me when we spoke in Daytona, said he was really impressed by them as well.
