My 08 has one that possibly bleeds off to much oil and knocks especially when I reatart when hot. It takes a while for it to normalize and get pumped up to where the bikes runs more normal.
I am tempted to get an intake and exhast set to change out when I do cams.
I read somewhere else where someone suffered a simmilar issue and did purchase a rocker in advance but he had repaired the original hydrulic rocker by removing a burr in the oil supply that fed the rocker hydraulics.. "Something to that effect"
Anyone else delt with this issue?
Dont want it to turn into another oil thread so I will lay down the fact that once it stated to appear more than 30,000 miles ago I stated to try other oils to help with cold start knocking and so on..
Done M-1, AMsoil, Vic, Castrol, Valvoline, but to date Rotella with Lucas seems to be best for me. Clutch is working better too.. Got a hot spot on it early in its life somewhere between Vic and M-1 oils..

LaPorte,Tx. | JSP, I'll reply that I had a knocking rocker lifter. It might not have been as bad as yours, as mine was more like a ticking lifter. I don't seem to have the issue now as much, but I'll hear a little lifter clatter...but only on cold start up.
So this is what I've done. I change the weight of the oil based on winter or summer. I use a 20w-50 in the summer months and a 10w-40 in the winter months.
I have also talked to a couple of Victory motor mechanics and looked at the oil pick up at the bottom of the oil pan. There is a possibility that if the kick stand is bent or the bike is parked on a slope there might be a issue with the proper oil pick up. I looked at the Vision cut away motor and the oil pick up is maybe 1/2" off the bottom of the pan and it runs all the way across the pan.
But on yours, I would say there might be a lifter that is worn a little and bleeding down. Good luck on finding the cure. |
