I did not post this in the Tech forum, because I wanted folks to post any variations modifications to this project that worked for them.
This is a design taken from Thomas.  I modified it a bit to make it a bit simpler, but is still not a simple job.  At one point I wanted to track down Thomas and beat him, I just could not get that twist he did on his set.  After wasting 2 steel straps I gave up on the twist, and used an aluminum strap as a template.
Both rests can move, but are limited in their range of movement.
Parts needed:
·         Arm pads - http://chairarmpads.com/Chair-Armrest-Pads-Petite-YOYA1810.htm
·         2 - 1/8” x 1 ½” x 16” steel strap (arms)
·         1 (or 2) - 1/16” x 1 ½” x 16 aluminum strap
·         2 - 1”x 6”  aluminum angle (dimension is estimated will need to cut to fit)
·         2 -  1” x 5 1/4" steel angle (you will have to cut this)
·         1/16” Plastic cut pad
·         2 - 1/4” clevis pins
·         2 – cotter pins
·         4 - 1/4” large washers
·         4 - 1/4" neoprene washers (not shown)
·         16 – 1/2” sheet metal screws
·         10 – 7/16” metal stud screws
·         2 – 1/4" hex head machine screws (or something else you might like better)
·         Primer and flat black paint
Basic Steps (very basic)
·         Remove the seat back, speaker covers, and speakers.
·         Cut and form the aluminum angle as shown to fit it as shown.
·         Drill pivot/mount 1/4" hole for steel strap as shown.
·         Drill the mount hole in the aluminum strap.
·         Mount the aluminum bracket using the 1/2” sheet metal screws (8 per bracket)
·         Use the aluminum strap to create a template for each steel strap (arm).   This step and the next one will make you hate me and Thomas.
·         Using the templates and a lot of creative guess work form the steel straps.
·         Using the clevis pin, 2 washers, and cotter pin (don’t bend it yet) mount one strap and use one steel angle to locate where you want the arm pad located.
·         Cut that strap as needed
·         Drill the one steel angle to mount to the pad and cut the arm pad as needed to fit the strap.
·         Drill the steel angle and steel strap.
·         Tap the steel strap to accommodate the machine screws you got for it.
·         Fit it back onto the bike, and take a measurement from the mirrors to get the same location for the other strap and repeat the arm pad mounting as described above.
·         Cut the plastic cut pad as shown and mount it on to the seat back using the 1/16” stud screws (this will protect your seat cover from getting ripped).  Take care to check the screws by pushing on the cushion, and if you can feel the point on the thinner section, remove that screw.  You don’t need many to hold it in place, and you can’t use staples – they will shatter the cut pad.
·         Prime and paint all the steel, and assemble the project using screw lock on the machine screws.
·         Use the neoprene washers as needed to reduce any rattles you find when you take it out for a test ride.

Have at it. I'm not in the aftermarket parts busness. Besides if I had to charge by the hour, these things would cost $1000.

Check out the cut pad I'm using to protect the seat cover. I'm also concerned about the speaker covers, and I already have some dings in them. On the positive side, those dings are behind the seat cusion, and you will never see them.

Good to see you made a set. Sorry for your frustration on bending the metal.

Glad I wasn't close by, I might have had to duck a flying piece of scrap...lol.

We just got back from a Wisconsin-Tennessee/North Carolina-Wisconsin trip and

the homemade arm rests have held up great.

I thinking about taking mine off this xmas and getting the steel powder coated. Can you get a satin finshed powder coat?

Cup holder starts with the liquid caddy:

This cup holder is perfect since it uses several different mounts, and they screw on and off.

Drill and tap the steel just under the rest. Do it to both and you can use it on either side you want.

Just screw the cup holder on when you want to use it, leave it on, or take it off when you are not using it.

You can also make a bracket the uses the same cup holder for the driver. I posted that on a different thread:

lakes region, NH		I will making a set of these as soon as it gets above 32? in my garage. i also remember someone had made a set of heel rests that slid out of the floorboards? can anyone direct me to that post. thanks Tom
