I am active Army and have been in for 12 years. I noticed that Victory has the military salute pins. I would like to have one. So I emailed Victory and they told me to get with my local dealer. Well my local dealer when out of business and the new one doesn't have any. I am currently on TDY to Fort Bragg so I checked out the local store Victory of Fayetville. I asked if they have one and they told me that they do but they only give them to customers. I was appalled. I thought my service would be enough. And I do own a Vision, advertise for them in wearing some of their clothes and speak fondly of them on forums and in person. I mean does the dealer pay for these or did they get them free from Victory. If they paid for them then maybe I understand, but if they received them free I don't think that was right. Just wanting to rant.

Prime Power - Here is information on the pin from Victory.

http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-us/Victory-Motorcycles/Experien...

Also they have a pin give-away for donating for military care packages. I'm not sure if any of these are currently active though, it would be up to the dealer if they are not I would think.

Give Higgin's Powersport in Barre, MA a call they should have some left. They gave them to you when you brought in stuff for the troops but I believe that was over Dec 1st.
No to get upset, they may have only gotten so many. Did you show them your military ID? I can remember before 9/11 us Vets did not get a whole lot but since then things have changed. I remember Pete and I stopped over at a motel. They would not give him a commercial drivers discount or me a senior discount. When I got out of the Air Force in '74 they gave me a plastic coated card with my Honorable Discharge on one side and my DD214 on the other. The hotel gave us both a discount when I showed that.

Thank you for your service.

But my understanding is that these are not promotional items for the store but "thank you's" from Victory. So to give them to people who bring in stuff for the troops is ridiculous also. I mean it encourages donations but the main purpose is till not met. It should go to the troops. I'm not wanting freebies necessarily I guess the principle is killing me. They said it is for the troops and the dealers are using them to drive business and not giving them to troops. I would even pay for the cheese wedges they gave to anyone who purchased a bike on Veterans day. But so far I don't have that choice.

1st let me say thank you Prime Power for your service. I can not tell you how much I respect you and what you do to keep us safe. I do think you may be misinterpreting the whole pin thing. Victory's web site reads "Each person who donates to operation Gratitude at a Victory dealership will receive a free Victory Military Salute pin while supplies last." I belong to a organization that helps a local veterans hospital with the day to day things. We bring the close toothpaste shaving cream soap books movies .. Things you would think they would get from the government but sad to say they don't. I commend Victory for putting a program like this together to help them. If you want a pin e mail me and I will get one for you. The local dealers around here have them and would give you one if you told them you are in the military. But the pin's where given out to the people that support operation Gratitude. http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-us/Victory-Motorcycles/Hometown...

Thank you, and on the link you gave me your are correct and I commend the work Victory does for the military. Especially auctioning of those two seet bikes. But according to the link posted above:

If you?re currently serving or are a veteran, Victory salutes you and invites you to visit a Victory dealer to pick up your free Victory Military Riders Pin. The pins are available to all veterans, regardless of the brand of bike they ride.

So that is what erks me to see dealers give it to someone just because they purchase something. I will email you, as I would like to have one. Thank you to the others who haved served too, I'm not the only one. And to the ones who are sending care packages thank you also. This country has the shortest memory possible.

Prime Power, you should be erked and that dealer should have shook your hand gave you a pin and thanked you for your service, SHAME ON THEM!!!!
These pins are SUPPOSE to be a THANK YOU, not a promo for the dealership. So if you are still TDY and near that dealership, go back, ask for the owner/manager and ask for "your" pin. If he says they are for customers, tell him you are...... and inform him Victory says on their site they should be giving you one REGARDLESS.

Thankfully my dealer REALLY is PRO-Service.....

ps... Fastfred, thank you...... Those who serve/served this great country via military service, sallute those like yourself who truly do support their military.

Most likely is that since Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base are right outside Fayetteville, local retailers see so many soldiers every day that they don't appreciate them like people who don't see them as often.

I know you're proud of him. My son finished warrant officer school and flight school at Rucker back in 07 and is about to return for maintenance test pilot course. He was allowed to come home early from Afghanistan a week ago to get ready to go to the school. I wish your son all the best.

Thank You for the positive comments. My son makes me very proud for a lot of reasons, number one is he is a silent warrior, not like his father who will go to full blown arms in a heart beat! Part of my cowboy background. He is looking to be part of all the bad ass covert-opps missions. I know I have a pair but his are solid brass. I have a very high respect for all of the military. My family has a couple more silent warrior's in the family which I am not allowed to talk about, Godspeed to you both, they know the difference between Iraq and Iran, they both rock and don't run....

Ride hard, ride fast, but above all remember those who allow us to ride free in the wind my Brothers and Sisters....
