| I like to think I wore out the old fuel pump. 
It started squealing about 2 days before I left for SLC and Sturgis. As Pete always says, ride it till it breaks. I made the whole trip but always got strange looks when I started the bike. I decided to try out a new dealer near me to save travel time and it was just warranty work. Also my stereo controller on the handlebar started acting up in the rain.
Well she sat in the shop a long time because all parts were on back order. Finally the pump came in and I picked her up yesterday. The controller came in with the wrong connector. The mech drove her around and left her running. I shut her off to get in the trunk. A funny thing happened when I started her, not a peep from the pump. O.O Not even the short whine I have come accustom to with Victory. She started right up and low and behold no piston slap? Why would a new fuel pump make that go away? Thoughts from others? Maybe her sitting for 3 months made the gremlin run away to another bike?
She's like she rolled out the show room. now if the sun would come out. I put 50 miles on her yesterday. The folks at work should be happy cause I am in a much better mood now.
Just a reminder the M/C show at the Javitt's is in December this year. |

Sand Rock, AL United States | mine started squealing a year ago. Dealer said it has to fail before it's replaced. Pure gas (no ethynal) has made the squeal all but disappear and I try to keep the tank above 1/4 tank. |

Pittsburgh, PA | i read one thing Very Bad for fuel pumps is , running them LOW on fuel. this is why i never run mine until the low fuel light is on.. i know there is still gas in the tank when the light is on, but i know people that Keep running it when the light is on! the fuel is used to Cool the pump as well.. and god forbid you run it SO low you suck air... |

| I guess I'm one of the abusors, I have alway run my gas down to like a half or 1/2 gal. I have noticed that when it gets down that low it doesn't seem to run as good, Like maybe the pump pressure is falling off or one cylinder isn't put out as good or its just tierd & needs a break. On a recent trip I took, the guy I was traveling with, stopped more often because he was pulling a camper. Didn't notice it as much this trip with sooner fill ups. I was thinking I had some sort of fuel pump problem & I may have. Will be doing the fill ups soomer for now. |

| when you get below a 1/4 tank your pump starts to heat up. For sure your going to burn up your pump. |

seattle, wa | The pump on my 08 is getting noisier, I think it is a good time to replace it. How much did a new one cost, and do you know the part number? Also, can fuel pump be rebuilt? |

Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | I see the Victory part # is 2520786 & lists for $365. I doubt there's much to rebuild in these sealed units. Given enough time a different replacement pump that would fit into the assembly could probably be found. Red Rider, do you have the old pump? |

| ByteN2it: If you fimd a replacement pump for the VV it would be nice if it had a little more pressure. On the 650 Burgman if you dialed in a little more fuel pump pressure using a NAPA pump you could get more zip out of the bike. |

Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | I run mine until the light comes on every week year round for 50k miles. I had no idea it would make the pump go out. Guess I have been lucky. Maybe I should fuel up a day sooner. |

| Rylan at the Vic shop can rebuild 09's and up. 08's are a bastard year and can not be rebuilt and you can not put a 09 in a 08 cause of the bolt pattern change |

| My gas gauge has always been off. I usually have 1-1/2 gallons left when the light comes on. This is the only Vic that I haven't run out of gas with.
Nothing lasts for ever. She's fixed and I am happy. They said my controller is in but like before they haven't called back to confirm... |

I have, more than once. Once, I coasted down the exit ramp and into the station and put 6.1 gallons in ( I was sweating that one). My low fuel light always comes on with 1 1/2 gallons left, usually at about the 180 to 200 mile mark. I consider it to be the modern version of the old reserve petcock and I know I can go about another 50-60 miles after it comes on.

Buford, GA United States | My fuel pump went out at about 62,000 miles and I think parts and labor were around $600. BIG difference in the power now that the pressure doesn't drop off. It did squeal for about 6 months before it finally needed replacing. |
