Fountain Inn, SC United States
I just discovered this yesterday on my 2010 vision radio and it hasn't been mentioned anywhere I can find.

While playing your iPod through the Vision radio (may be true for XCountry as well) using the ipod cable..

  • Double-tap the + or - button and you'll get a display of the Next | Current | Previous songs on your radio display. then hitting the + or - will scroll through additional upcoming (or previous) songs. There is now way to select a song other than the current one.

  • Hitting the SE (search) button will scroll through the input sources.

  • That's all, I just found this a cool little tidbit. Now back to your regularly scheduled banter.

I think if you have the song highlighted & press 1 on the console that song will play...If my memory is correct.

iPod Tuning
Press TUNE (+ or TUNE (-) once to move
one track forward or backward. Press the
button twice (double click) to bring up the
track selection screen, then use the TUNE
button to move forward and backward
through the playlist.
When the desired track is highlighted, press
any preset button on the console to select
the track.
Tip: To exit the screen without changing tracks,
press S/E.
Tip: Press and hold TUNE (+ or TUNE (-) to
fast-forward or fast-reverse the track.
To browse tracks by artist, playlist or album,
press and hold any preset button to bring up
the selection screen. Press TUNE (+ or
TUNE (-) to make a selection.
Press and release any preset button to bring
up the items in the selected list. Press TUNE
(+ or TUNE (-) to make a selection. Press
and release any preset button to start playing
the track.

Now, in all honesty, I did not know that.
Thanks.

2008 doesn't do that. I just paid $100 to have radio firmware updated to the latest version.

I think I might do that because my '08 just moves 10 songs forward or backward.

my ipod died so it doesn't matter any more to me. I need to find an older, workable ipod. My ipod touch that I was using will reboot about ever 4 minutes or so making it impossible to listen to it anymore. The radio stills plays great!

Thanks for that reminder so when I do find one I'll can take advantage of the features

Did that change the function of your iPod?

I am guessing that since the radio changed in 2010 those are part of a new feature set. In the 2008 and 2009 radio it just advances the iPod 10 songs forward or backward in the playlist.

Ride safe and look at the road.........not the radio display.

I am curious too if the firmware upgrade will install the new functionality.

I don't believe so. I had my 2008 radio updated to the lasted version of firmware 2 months ago. 5.13 something, can't remember. Helped connectivity with iphone 4, but the functions do not change for the most part. The only difference I noticed wa the radio no longer unmutes when you hit the souce button on the radio itself.
